Jane Jago | 888 comments Okay. I'll make an exception to my normal British reserve. Poorly people are allowed to need hugs.

So here's a big one from a big girl.

Maybe June will be the month to get better.....

You know, you really shouldn't go around asking for hugs if you're ill, and I really shouldn't be giving you one, but what the hell. I'm sure my laptop's anti-virus can cope.

hug! (virtual)

I hadn't thought about your anti virus, I hope I didn't hurt it! ;-p
Hey, maybe it helped give me extra antibodies??

Aww. Thank you everyone.
British Jane; I'm British too. Some of us hug.
Thank you for your extra effort though.

I love you guys.
I love how this thread seems to draw in even non-huggers into our fold.

Oh poor you :( Sending you well wishes and a great big HUG!!

message 160: by T.L. (new)

T.L. Clark (tlcauthor) | 727 comments Tee hee. Missy. I guess a run by hugging is better than a drive by shooting! ;-) I'll take that.

Thanks Susan.

I get really grumpy and full of self pity when I'm poorly (which in itself is annoying).

I'm slowly getting better. Much rest is planned this weekend (so, still no writing yet; really want to get back into it soon. Book 6 is feeling neglected)

Hey ho.

Upcoming weekend hugs to you all.
xx

Sarah King | 1 comments Hi T.L,

I stumbled across your post three days after publishing my second novel and every word you said back in March hit a note with me!

Self-publishing is a tough world to be in. Hang in there and remember, it's the pleasure of writing which matters :-)

No worries. Both me and my Laptop are fine, apart from the usual annoying Windows 10 related nonsense.

Grrrr.

Hugs TL, hope you're fighting fit soon.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Matt? (biting my nails, eyes wide in fear) Is Windows 10 that bad? I have 7 and MS Word 7 and am doing okay so far. I know 10 is free until July 29th, but I'm scared. Am I going to need a hug after I switch? (trembling)

message 165: by Matt (new)

Matt Parker | 38 comments Well there is an issue where sometimes no icons are displayed on the toolbar at the bottom, and the start menu doesn't work. The only way to get into my documents, for example, is through my desktop icons e.g. the recycling bin. I really should put a desktop icon on there for Word, for when it happens again, but I quite like the idea of accessing all my files through a bin.

The only way to turn the laptop off is by pressing Ctr+Alt+Del, and going to the power button from there.
The glitch tends to last for a few weeks, then it suddenly starts working again.
I'm not sure how widespread the problem is. Apparently Microsoft are aware of it, but I've got no idea when its going to be fixed. I keep meaning to uninstall W10, but I just keep putting it off.
Just way too busy.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Thank you, Matt. I read somewhere that MS is putting out a patch this Nov. Good luck. Ugh, I gotta decide what to do...

I might just stick with until then.
I can live with my laptop being borderline quirky/frustrating.

Thanks for the info.

Ahh! I still keep closing the annoying 2010 popup box asking me to install it. No thanks! ;-)

message 170: by T.L. (new)

T.L. Clark (tlcauthor) | 727 comments To all who are sturggling with 2010; special computer hugs!
To all who have not taken the plunge, and unsure what to do, comradery type hug!

Matt Parker | 38 comments T.L. wrote: "Matt wrote: "Ahh! I still keep closing the annoying 2010 popup box asking me to install it. No thanks!"

I kept doing that, until I finally installed it, just to make the popup go away.
Big mistake :(

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments T.L. and Matt,
Honest, my W10 upgrade message just popped up when I entered this thread. I quickly closed it! Yikes!!

Matt, I offer you my sincerest condolences on your continuous struggle, and a hug.

T.L. I gratefully accept and reciprocate your hug of comradery. (Why does GR thing "comradery" is misspelled?)

Matt Parker | 38 comments Sue (Dog Mom) wrote: "Matt, I offer you my sincerest condolences on your continuous struggle, and a hug.."

It's actually working fine at the moment, but I'll take that hug on credit for when it goes loco again. (Which it will)

GG, I don't know what to say. Sometimes life just sucks, but we keep fighting.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Here's a HUGE hug for you, G.G.
I'm so sorry. I know how painful having teeth pulled is. You need stronger pain meds... and some ice. I hope you feel better soon.
Hugs, Sue

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Thanks Anthony. Trying to make lemonade with lemons, but I'm turning yellow from drinking too much of it. :P

Thanks Sue. Should be better tomorrow. I'm taking hydrocodone so hard to get stronger, although I took some ibuprofen too now and it's much better. ;)

Thanks Davyne. Glad we have the same taste. :)

Hugging you all back!

message 184: by Christina (new)

Christina McMullen (cmcmullen) Huuuuuuuge huuuuuuuuugs from the person who shys away from them in real life. ;P

As for the Windows 10 fears, I've had no issues. I have a new laptop that came with 10 installed and no glitches so far (knock on my head) and one super old netbook with no memory to speak of that I tried to drown a while back that runs slower than molasses in January, but still hasn't had any glitches. I'm guessing it's all machine by machine as to whether or not it will be a smooth transition.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments Thanks for that encouraging report, Christina. : )

message 186: by T.L. (new)

T.L. Clark (tlcauthor) | 727 comments Oh GG! Ouchies!!
Special healing hug for you.
And get some clove oil on your teethy pegs.

Nat; I think you're trying to summon up something else entirely.
The spell for effective advertising is to take a bank note and set fire to it whilst dancing around naked, chanting "this is not a waste"! ;-P
(please note; this comment is for comedic effect only. Burning currency is actually illegal in a lot of places. This author does not condone illegal activity) :)

Sage smudging, burning a green candle with money symbols will attract wealth. Just saying.

T.L. Clark (tlcauthor) | 727 comments btw, fellow huggers...
Any good romance reads for me to delve into on holiday? Something I can read on a plane (looooong flights!)
I appreciate this is off topic, but I can't be bothered to go into a massive long thread. I only need a couple of ideas. :)

message 188: by G.G. (last edited Jun 09, 2016 04:56AM) (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Tks TL...(What's a 'teethy peg?'? I keep seeing a pirate's wooden leg with a tooth for foot. Don't ask me why.) /blush

And what kind of romance you like? Erotica? PNR (which is usually very close to Erotica) cute little romance, romance with a bit of comedy? Historical romance? Have you check in the group's library? Those are all recommendations from mods (but they aren't all romance though.) The last romance I read was good, but then again, I don't read many romance so maybe the change of scenery is what I appreciated. :P You can check out My Dirty Detour. It has a little bit of everything: Romance, a few sex scenes, and a guy who wants out of the Mafia. :P

message 190: by T.L. (new)

T.L. Clark (tlcauthor) | 727 comments Ooh a group member book; I'll check that out ta.

G.G. - I like all kinds of romance. TL Clark just loves love :)

Oh; teethy pegs are the plural of toothy peg :-O
I have no idea of it's origins. My mother always used to say it, in a pouty lip sort of cutesy voice, e.g. "Aww hav ooo got sore teethy pegs?" pmsl
I was merely recommending clove oil on your sore gums.

message 191: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments TL Oh ok lol that's what I thought but wasn't sure. You're the second person who recommend me clove oil. The thing is...I don't think I can put that on the holes. :/

Oh and the author of My Dirty Detour, Grace Risata, is also a member of this group. :)

message 192: by T.L. (new)

T.L. Clark (tlcauthor) | 727 comments If you don't want to risk clove oil get a chamomile tea bag. Boil it up. Then soak it in iced water or bung it in the freezer a little while. Bung onto the offending area. :)

But a couple of drops of oil on a cotton swab gently wiped over the area should be fine.

((Healing hugs))

xx

message 196: by G.G. (new)

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Tks for the thought, TL. I haven't had the chance to try the oil yet. I've had visitors for the last 5 days now. They are leaving tonight so...but the darn teeth (or should I say teeth holes or maybe something else?) hurt as much as before I had them pulled sometimes especially late in the evening. I can't wait to try the oil really. :/

Advise: Don't have teeth pulled when you know you're going to have visitors. ;P

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments G.G. - OUCH! I'm so sorry you're hurting. HUGS

G.G. (ggatcheson) | 2491 comments Thanks guys for the hugs. :) just don't hit my jaw as you do. (My sister did a few times last week end...OUCH! hehe)
On the good side, it's not as swollen today...finally. (I don't look like I've got a ping pong ball in the mouth anymore. :P)

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) | 973 comments G.G. - Does that mean you were talking life a mafia boss? LOL! Glad your swelling is down and you're in less pain. {Very Careful Hug}
