I am reading
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta SepetysFabulously written so far - to think I poo-pooed it at first because I thought it was another version of the shades of grey series - shame on me for thinking that!!!!

It's a lovely book Sally. Funny how a title can put you off a book isn't it!

Just finished Double Cross by James Patterson. I think I've just found my favourite book by him so far.
I'm currently enjoying The Birdman's Wife by Aussie author Melissa Ashley about Elizabeth Gould and her role in drawing birds for John.

That was a 5 star read for me too Elias :)

Where did you pick this one up Jools? I have it on my wish list after reading her second and third :)

I started Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, I played library book renewal roulette and lost, there were no reserves.. Then 4 days before it was due, boom someone put a reserve on it so I have 3 days to read it :-) Its fantastic so far

NetGalley Brenda, I've had it too long :/
I just started reading Dear Mr M by Herman Koch. His books always have plenty of humour, some black, some tongue in cheek, but I wasn't expecting to laugh out loud at the disclaimer:"Anyone who thinks he recognises himself or others in one or more characters in this book is probably right. Amsterdam is a real city in the Netherlands"
So, I've read a few books since last posting on here. I am halfway through Cross Stitch. It's pretty epic! Lol. In addition to this, I have read a few ebooks, too- Lost to You, Take This Regret, If Forever Comes, Breaking Walls and a book I borrowed from my aunt, Promise of the Wolves. This in between getting my first novel ready for publication and writing my second novel.
Another of those reading coincidencesIn Dear Mr. M the book I just finished, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote was mentioned in the final pages.
In the first few pages of my very next book, The Scholl Case: The Deadly End of a Marriage, once again a mention of In Cold Blood
Yesterday I read Shadow Lily. You all know how I I feel about this series by now. I loved it, of course.
Anyone else got the free book (from book shops)
? I'm barely into it yet but so many exciting people from Geraldine Brooks to Tim Winton (including two of my particular favourites Isobelle Carmody and Morris Gleitzman)I am promoting it because anyone who loves aussie authors and aussie books ought to read it and it is FREE too (so every budget)
I'm currently reading the collected poems of Thomas Hardy and an ARC of forthcoming novel Bright Air Black, which is based on Medea. The prose took a little getting used to, but now I am enjoying it.
After that, I still have 11 books I want to try to finish by mid-December, when I always receive loads of new ones for birthday and Xmas. Though I only need another two after these to hit my Goodreads Reading Goal for 2016.

The most recent book I've finished was The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt I enjoyed it a lot. Currently I'm listening to The Heart is a Lonely Hunter Carson McCullers, a brilliant story! on Audible.
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt has been very popular Lisa but I haven't heard of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers - glad you're enjoying it!
Hi Brenda, I would really recommend The heart is a Lonely Hunter, it was published in 1940, first story by a 23 yr old writing student, a year in a small Southern US town, a deaf mute is the pivotal character.
I have just 20 pages to go of Slaughter Park and it's definitely an action-packed 5 star ending to the series. You are in for a great read, Brenda!

Already?! Wow - and yes, I expected that... the first two books didn't disappoint (me anyway)

Yesterday I sat down, amidst packing, and started The Shadow Hour by Kate Riordan. Already it feels like a 'half-strength' Kate Morton novel. But it will do till I move and join my new library.

Kathryn, Looking at reviews, I am in the minority with my opinion. Many readers loved it, you probably will, too.
I won an advance copy of You Had Me at Christmas
in a competition Molly O'Keefe ran. It's a lot of fun so far!
After finishing my current read last night (Apprentice in Death by J.D. Robb) which I'll review shortly, I'll start The Wonder by Emma Donoghue next :)
I started reading The Slap and almost didn't get past the first pov fellow. I must be getting old but found the mandering of 40 year old man about young ... although I imagine many a man's mind rambles in a similar fashion, I found it irritating. I also finding the next pov a little irritating too. Oh, well, will see where it takes me.

No - my son has and said I wouldn't like it. That was from when it was first published. Since then I've read many reviews and have no desire to read it myself :)
