Buddy Read Queries and Preparation
Hi Mars,Margo n Sarah,Firstly Sarah I hope your procedure and recovery goes well.
Secondly I would love to join the buddy read with you all if that is ok. The Silent Patient was one of my Xmas gifts. This will be my first buddy read also.
Dom, Cherie, TrudyAn, Renee and I are planning to read The Serpent's Tale in March if anyone else is interested.
Janice and I are going to read Fly By Night , If anyone wants to join. haven't picked up a date yet.
ʙᴀsʜ wrote: "Janice and I are going to read Fly By Night , If anyone wants to join. haven't picked up a date yet."I'll set up the thread for it and we can figure it out there.

I really love the cover too, Margo. I hope it's going to be a quick read even though it's over 400 pages.
I have
for a couple of years and just don't seem to get around to it. My library has
and
.but unfortunately not this one

Face like glass is my favourite book! I loved everything about it
Jannene wrote: "That last one looks like the cameo task that we have Margo."The face in profile task? Ummm - no. Not the focus, not prominent enough. It's overpowered by other things on the cover.
I'm wrapping up Once Upon a River and thought other readers might be interested in a buddy read. I've almost read it, but I think it would be perfect for a BR.
Dom and I are finishing the Robert Langdon series next month with Origin. Janice is reading with us. If others want to join, let us know.Currently Dom and I are reading Inferno.
Cherie wrote: "I own it and have on my Trivia challenge, but I don’t think I can commit to reading it right now."No problem, Cherie. It hasn't to be right now. I thought it was maybe a possibility for a group read.
I'm trying to read more classics, something I used to do but for some reason I'm getting lazy about. Is anyone interested in reading a classic in the near future (not necessarily right now)? There are a few I had put in my list for this year:
The Grapes of Wrath
East of Eden
The Moonstone
The Awakening
The Turn of the Screw
Watership Down
The Haunting of Hill House
but I'm open to other options that might sound interesting to me.
Sandra - I would be interested. I have not read either of the Steinbeck books nor the Chopin nor James book. I have read both of the books by Collins (loved it!) book and Adams (I read it years ago and tried to listen to it last year, but I could not do it). I am not sure if I am too interested in Jackson's book, but I have never read her either. You could twist my arm. ;o)
Lol, Cherie! I hope we can agree in something to read together without me having to twist you anything. :)So, I own The awakening, so I have immediate access to it. The turn of the screw appears as always available as an ebook in my library webpage.
As far as I can see it shouldn't be great deal to get The grapes of wrath or East of Eden (again in my library webpage).
Watership Down seems to be more tricky to get, but still not impossible.
Which ones do you have available?
When would be a good time for you according to your schedule, Cherie? July or August both work for me.
Sandra - it is weird but The Haunting of Hill House is an always available audiobook on my library web site. I picked up The Awakening from Barnes & Nobel for 99 cents. I know that I can get the Steinbeck books from them too, but I will also check my library. I think they are both available as ebooks, but it has been a long time since I looked at the availability.
Either July or August will be fine for me or both if you want to do more than one. You pick the book you want to read and I will join you. You don't even need to twist my arm.
I own The Moonstone in my ebook archive.
I can get The Turn of the Screw for 48 cents to $2.99, depending on which version I want.
Cherie wrote: "I picked up The Awakening from Barnes & Nobel for 99 cents. ..."Well, if you bought The Awakening I think we should start there to justify the expense. :)
I would suggest to start it on July 3rd, but I'll set a thread to discuss the details there.
We definitely can read another in august or later in the year. I really would like to read as much classics as possible this year (but not only classics).
Sandra, I'm up for Watership Down when it's okay for you.Would someone like to read Wolf Hall with me? Normally I'll get my copy the first week of August.
Hello~ is anyone's up to a buddy read for the book Dig. ? I have the hardcover book and I'll probably get the audiobook too.
Saar The Book owl wrote: "Sandra, I'm up for Watership Down when it's okay for you."Great, Saar! We just finished East of Eden, and the plan is to read The Awakening in the near future, and then we can do Watership, but there is no rush. Is there a time that works better for you from August on?
I'm having vacation at home the first 2 weeks of August, so that would be perfect if it fits for you?
Hi Janice - please change the thread that was created for The Inventor's Secret (Book 1) to read (Book 1 - 3). Jannene and I are going to start reading Book 3 today. We already read book 2 on our own, but did not really discuss anything, although we made comments in our series threads. Dom decided not to read with us, but Dawn may. I just thought it would be easier than doing a whole new topic.
Cherie wrote: "Hi Janice - please change the thread that was created for The Inventor's Secret (Book 1) to read (Book 1 - 3). Jannene and I are going to start reading Book 3 today. We already read book 2 on our..."
I changed it.
Whoever creates the thread can edit it, as Jannene has done. I've added Book 3 to the Buddy Read calendar.
Cherie and I are going to start Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin if anyone wants to read it. We planned on starting today but Dom is trying to get it too.
I am want to read Written in Red and Book of the Little Axe if anyone is interested in doing a buddy read on those in the near future that would be super awesome.
Christina, I'd love to read Written in Red with you. Anytime after 10th october would be good for me, if that's soon enough for you?
Margo wrote: "Christina, I'd love to read Written in Red with you. Anytime after 10th october would be good for me, if that's soon enough for you?"That would be awesome, Margo! Want just start middle of the month.. 16th?
Margo wrote: "16th is good for me. Will you pop it in the calendar please Janice, if that date is OK?"I will add it to the calendar once a thread is set up so that I can link to it.
Janice wrote: "Margo wrote: "16th is good for me. Will you pop it in the calendar please Janice, if that date is OK?"I will add it to the calendar once a thread is set up so that I can link to it."
Done, Janice. Thanks
LOL that was confusing. Christina, you must have set up a thread at the same time as me heheI've deleted mine now ;-)
