If you've read Wizard, would you do a reread, or are you wanting to read something different? If so, do you have a suggestion?
Janice wrote: "Rusalka mentioned having a buddy read in honour of Ursula K. Le Guin who died on Jan 22. I think it's a great idea.Would others be interested in doing a buddy read of one of her b..."
I'm in for this. I've never read any book of Le Guin, but I have them on my TBR - pile, so it would be perfect.
I have all of the Earthsea books, and the Left Hand. So happy to go for it. Thanks for moving it here, Janice. It was a throw away good idea at 11pm and then I went to bed and work. I should shout out for all my other mods who pick up my pieces when I do this, which is frequent. Time zones... oops.
Peggy, Are we hoping to read The Daylight War as a buddy read? I think it was mentioned at some stage. I have it down for the zz challenge.
Yes, I would like too! I also have it planned for the zodiac challenge. I feel a bit overwhelmed by my reading plans for February so if we could do it March or April (or anytime after that if that works better for you) that would be great. I would actually like to read it after I finish Oathbringer (although who knows when that will be ;-)). I'm afraid I'm going to confuse the two. I'm not even reading them together now, but flamespren were mentioned in Oathbringer and I thought they were bad demons and couldn't understand why nobody was panicking!! Imagine what happens if I actually read the two books side by side, haha! Actually, I could also put Oathbringer on hold when we read this. The number of times I'm putting this one on hold are going to make it last all of 2018 ;-)
Peggy, I'm flexible with our read of Hollow City too. If you get overwhelmed and need to move it, just let me know.
Peggy wrote: "Yes, I would like too! I also have it planned for the zodiac challenge. I feel a bit overwhelmed by my reading plans for February so if we could do it March or April (or anytime after that if that ..."Later in the year world probably suit me better too - maybe april or may?
Mikayla wrote: "Would anyone like to read Unearthed and Dreamfall with me?"Do you still want to do a Buddy Read with me, for Dreamfall?
Update: I see that you have already completed the book and gave it five stars. I'll have to make sure to read it.
Amanda wrote: "Almeta and I were talking on another thread about reading Infinite Jest, anyone else want to read with us?I've never done a buddy read before, and I'm so excited! :)"
Travis sivarT wrote: "I'm in also for Infinite Jest. I think. Lol. I haven't actually began a book yet in 2018 but maybe some buddy reads is what I need"
I'm setting up a Buddy Read thread for Infinite Jest.
We can discuss timing over there, if either of you still want to do it and/or if anyone else wants to join in.
Margo wrote: "Sounds good :-)"I would like to join as well. I started the series a while ago and stopped on that book. I was planning on finishing the series this year.
Peggy wrote: "Perfect :) Shall we get back to this early/mid-March to make a definite plan?"Are you making a plan?
Totally forgot! I'll make a thread where we can discuss our starting date right away. Several people joined the discussion of the previous book and I think some of them would also be interested in this one.
That may well be, Peggy. I have read Infinite Jest, and I sometimes wonder if it would be more enjoyable on a second read. When I was in college, I read James Joyce, Ulysses. I remember the Professor telling us something along the lines of "you can't read Ulysses; you can only reread Ulysses." I suspect Infinite Jest may be similar to Ulysses in that respect.

Jannene wrote: "Cherie, Peggy, Margo and I plan on reading The Skull Throne in June."Depending on how my next week goes I might be able to join back the buddy read (currently finishing book 2 of the series).

Yay!

That is great!
I would love to do a Buddy Read, never done one before. I just finished This Monstrous Thing, and wanted to have some discussion, but all my 'book' friends were reading something else. :-(
I would join The Skull Throne, but I haven't read the previous 3.
I'm doing the June Toppler, but would be able to start another book on June 10th.
Anyone interested in :
Stardust
The Life List
Forgotten Boxes
INK: A Love Story on 7th and Main
Sometimes I Lie
I like a variety of books, as you can see. But if you don't see one, what would you recommend?
Heather, you're righy, you would definitely need to the previous books to be able to pick up The Skull Throne. You'd be welcome to join but you'd need to be very keen to read the first 3 in time lolI don't own any on you list unfortunately or I love to read with you. Oh, except Stardust which I highly recommend ☺

We're just finishing up Circe, and are about to start The Skull Throne which is book 3 in a series. Things are a bit quiet. I don't have any books you've read on my TBR, unfortunately. I'm trying to whittle down the books I own and get some of them read, or I would join you. I hope you find someone who will read with you.
I'm currently reading The Sword of Summer for the first time and I am currently where my currently reading says, page 156. I would like to know if anyone would be interested in reading this with me and I would be willing to wait for you to catch up to where I'm at.

How is the book so far?

I had very very high expectations going into this book because I'm such a huge Uncle Rick fan and I have yet to be disappointed. Are you guys planning on reading the second book this year because if so, I can wait for when you guys are ready to start that one after I finish the first one and we can buddy read from the second book on.
Rusalka wrote: "Welcome to YLTO, Books With Chi! Lovely to see you jumping in :)"Thank you so much ^_^. Yeah, I don't have anyone to read with and so I thought this group would be amazing.

Harsha wrote: "Anyone interested in reading Proust's Swann's Way? Looks daunting to tackle it on my own :)"Hi Harsha. Welcome to the group.
Swann's Way is quite a book from all accounts - I found an interesting account of what reading it is like: https://www.theguardian.com/books/201... and am intrigued, but a bit daunted at the thought of reading it too.
I would hate to start off with just the two of us and give up 100 pages in. But if there were a small group reading it (3 or more of us), I would definitely take part.

I would be interested, but can only start in september. Will be travelling in july and august.

Thanks Sarah.
A few of us are considering a buddy read of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society for the monthly challenge. If you'd be interested in joining let us know.
Sounds good, Clive. I'm ready to start whenever too. I'll start a thread.Anna, do you have a start date that works better for you?
Tricia, would you be interested in joining?
Anyone else want to join?
