I dread that 'who would you cast to play the parts of your characters in a film' interview question because I can't picture enough celebs to make up half the cast!
I knew about David Guest because ... the hair ... and I saw him on a programme about music at some point.
Cheers

I think that Guest is the first "Celebrity" in here. Most of the others have been stars, some, if only in their own firmament.
Kath wrote: "It had the most ridiculous ending, though. I hope Gareth Thomas's was better thought through."Heart failure, from what I read. Not sure whether that was thought through or not.
It really was one of Terry Nation's high point from a writing perspective. There have been a number of discussions about a remake, but nothing has surfaced.
Kath wrote: "Short of a mass resurrection, there'll be no sequel. And us oldies wouldn't watch a remake."They're never the same, and certainly never better.
Paul Darrow was once keen on a follow up about young characters who take on the mantle, perhaps with Avon and possibly Vila, both having survived the ending of the original series, but nothing ever came of it.

I agree

Once they killed off Blake it was rather good :-)
That's a huge loss and much too early. Here she is with one of her best moments:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkfuE...

That was great - thanks.
"We'd like to apologise to our viewers in the North.... it must be terrible for you."Victoria Wood - national treasure, comic genius, lovely lady.
RIP
She did a film set in Barrow in Furnesshttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housewi...
So quite a few people locally met her

I suppose you're not surprised to note that I've never seen the film or met her but my Lady Wife enjoyed the film
That film was really good, so was the musical she wrote about the Manchester children's choir 'That Day We Sang' She was a very talented lady.
RIP Guy Hamilton. Director of Live and Let Die, The Man with the Golden Gun, Goldfinger and Diamonds Are forever.
Apparently, we've also lost Chyna - a star of WWE "wrestling" and ... ahem ... some other jobs.http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article...
As Victoria Wood might have said "be naughty, be flighty, melt the buttons on my flame-proof nightie"
He turned into a symbol for a while and his career wasn't exactly the most lively for the last few years, but I don't think that the afterlife was part of his career plan until now.
It's just us getting older. At one time, the old people died. Now we're the old people and our contemporaries are dying. I'm learning to accept that I'm too old to die young.

Kath wrote: "It's just us getting older. At one time, the old people died. Now we're the old people and our contemporaries are dying. I'm learning to accept that I'm too old to die young."Exactly.
When Ginger Rogers died most of us barely noticed.
Firstly 'culture' is probably getting more homogenised so a wider range of people recognise individual celebs.
Secondly there are probably more celebs.
Thirdly we're older so more people we know are dying
Arguably a lot of us could identify more with Victoria Wood - I don't know much about Prince, (except that he sang) but I doubt he possessed a uniquely British sense of humour. She was one of my favourite comedians.
M T wrote: "I could never get into Prince but I'm gutted about Victoria Wood."I couldn't name a single track of his, but then I suspect we don't take a lot of notice of singers younger than we are :-)
