The Mourning Thread
It was superb, as were the books I Clavdivus and Clavdivus the God (I wish I'd been the one to think of using v instead of u on this thread).King Jesus was also great, but you have to wade through pages of genealogies. All worth a read
Just heard of two more deaths today...Alan Simpson, aged 87, of Steptoe & Son fame and Tara Palmer Tomkinson who has died of a brain tumour at 45.
Sad to hear of Peter Skellern's death - I loved his You're a Lady song.http://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/cel...
Apparently Colin Dexter's died today. Got his books on my kindle to read but I love the Morse tv series.

Martin McGuinness bites the dust. Very difficult for lots of people to have any sad thoughts on this - particularly if they lost relatives in the bombings - He did, however partially make for some redemption with his efforts for the Peace Process.

RiP to all who lost their lives in Manchester.RiP Sir Roger - we really enjoyed The Saint in our house......... back in the good old days, when all the family watched programmes together!!
RIP John Noakes, died yesterday at the age of 83 :( He was a big influence on my childhood.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW3da...

That was something! My stomach hurt the whole time, and I wasn't there.
Indeed Desley - so sad that we've got this type of news again, so soon after Manchester and the previous attack on London Bridge. Here in Cardiff - we were all concerned that they might decide to plan some sort of attack here - but as I've heard of no trouble - I'm assuming that all went off well here for the Champions League final.
And Peter Sallis has gone, aged 96 (he was the voice of Wallace in Wallace & Gromit, and played Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine)

Feeling a bit down. One of my friends from university has three children, his youngest, aged 12, died on Wednesday. It seems to have been some kind of freak accident, although I'm not sure what happened and the family are not saying anything. It's just very, very sad and a bit close to home because McMini is 9.
That's unspeakably sad at just 12. Makes us all realise the importance of treasuring every day. Big hugs all round - some virtual, some physical.
The order of the universe is wrong when parents survive their children. Your poor friend and the family. I'm so sorry, MT.
That is so sad - I can't think of anything worse than losing a child at such a young age - whatever the reason xx
Michael Bond also wrote the brilliant Monsieur Pamplemousse stories. French detective and his dog, Pomme Frite. Stonking stories. I love the fact that his wife is called Doucette (Sweetie) and there 's a grapefruit (pamplemousse) called a sweetie. Clever and funny stuff.

Darkest Peru. Wellington boots, duffle coats and floppy hats. Fond childhood memories of reading Paddington's adventures. Mr Bond also created another of my childhood favourites: The Herbs. 'I'm a very friendly lion called Parsley...'

I hope you listened carefully to the news; they only told it once.
So many catchphrases from that programme, and the casting was superb.
