A little about me, I'm a 35 year old mom of 4 from Minnesota. I stay at home with my kids and watch my niece and nephew part time as well. Hobbies aside from reading are gardening, trying to stay healthy through exercise & good nutrition, going for walks with my family and boating/camping in the summer.
Favorite genres are fantasy of any kind but I read many other genres as well :-)

Wow Greta didn't know how active you were! I'm super jealous. I just got the Cize videos (LOVE SHAUN T!!!) because I've been super lazy for months and need something to ease myself into working out again and what better way than to dance?! Ha!
Re the game:
Anyone can chime in (and correct me if need be) but it's really easy and relaxed...at least how we've played it! Once we have our full team we can request the new itinerary. We will have 8 stops, with a minimum of 1 week at each stop. At each stop we have the option to do a spell-it-out (location) or do the detour. This round because we're Business Class, we can do up to 6 detours. We can determine in the beginning which we want to do based on what's given to us.
All books started from the beginning of the journey will count but you must read at least 1 book per week. If you tend to read more, or need to read something earlier that will work for a later stop, you can use that book but you still need to complete whatever task is set for that week.
For example, if you read a book in week 1 that works for the detour for week 5, you can choose to use that book for week 5 but you still need to read a book to use for weeks 1 (for the detour or s-i-o) and another in week 5 for "participation" since you already completed that task. At least this is how I understood it...
Does this make sense?

Yay thank you for the new itinerary mods :)

So, for #1 in the new itinerary, is is the second city listed that we'd choose for the tasks? That would be Takamatsu.

Our 1st stop is Takamatsu, Japan.
We can choose to do the task OR detour.
Tasks -
A. set in Japan or Japanese author OR
B. Spell it out of Takamatsu or Japan (I believe Takamatsu gains more points so it's better to do that one - asked mods to be sure how that works)
Or Detour -
Read a book shelved (listed on the first page of the "top shelves" of the book) as russian - plurals and minor spelling variations are acceptable
According to the rules at least 4 members must complete the detour in order for it to be considered complete but to gain the maximum number of points, all team members should complete it.
Listed below is the Points scheme -
TASKS
◈ Completing a task will earn the team 10 points AND
◈ If at least 6 members of the team read a book that contributes to the tasks, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points
DETOURS
◈ Completing a detour earns the team 25 points AND
◈ If at least 7 members of the team read a book for the detour, that is an additional 15 points AND
◈ If ALL team members read a book for the time you are at the stop, that is an additional 10 points

Just stopping by quickly and checking in before running out again. (We finally have some great weather here so I'm taking full advantage) :)
I'm all for spell it out of Takamatsu - I have nothing set in Japan or Japanese authors.
As for the detour, not so sure I have anything Russian either, so I'm quite useless for this first task I believe :(

#4 in series
Listopia- Books that Exceed Expectations
shelved 2008
shelved adult
Weight between 1-2 pounds
The Lovers tarot card
The DNA Helix option and Russian sound tougher.

Hi Annika! Welcome to the group!
I agree let's do the Takamatsu spell-it-out! There are 9 letters so we'll need 9 books for this 1st round. I'm almost done with a book that will work for T, and my next read can cover 1 of the A's. Anyone have a U book?

And I think I'll save my next read for the #4 in series (don't know if I'm on that # in any other series!) but I am 1/2 way through an audio that can be used for either U or A.

I got A's, a possible K, M's and am going to the library on Monday. Let me know if we need that U, Cathy. I think that would be the hardest letter to find.

For the U, I could read:

Let me know if you need it!

I'm all for spell it out of Takamatsu - I..."
Hi Annika!! Glad you're joining us :-)

If we're doing the spell out I have a few books that would work:
Sandman Slim - S title or K author
Armada
Kiss of Steel - K title or M author
I have a bunch of other books so if we need something else specific let me know, but I'm reading those three and Evernight (which I don't think works for anything, lol) in the next week or so. :)

I also finished The World As He Sees It yesterday. It can be used for:
T - Title
A - Author (Arthur)

When you've completed your book you can add them to our books log - here is the link, or add to the thread and someone can post it for you.
So to recap -
T - Cathy's Red Dirt Heart (MC Travis) (DONE)
A - Annika's The World As He Sees It (Author AM Arthur) (DONE)
K - Denise's Sandman Slim (Author Richard Kadrey) (DONE)
A - Lauri's Aunt Dimity and the Duke
M - Greta's City of Glass (Series: Mortal Instruments) (DONE)
A - Laila's Prisoner of Night and Fog (Author Anne Blankman) (DONE)
T - Jess' book
S - Deliteaux's book Small Fry (DONE)
U - Annika's Unexpec;ted Demands (DONE)
Just need to hear from Laila Jane, Jess & Lauri on what they have on deck and we can move things around if need be! I can also remove my T since I'm also listening to an audiobook that works for A.

If we're spelling Takamatsu, I have books that will work for M, T, S, A. Also maybe K depending on when we were allowed to start books for this challenge (I started that one March 31)

Looking good already, ladies!

Do start dates matter for this? My book says 3/23 because I stuck it on my currently reading shelf when I downloaded it from the library (I tend to forget what I have if I don't do this, LOL) but really I just started reading it yesterday. Let me know if I should fix the dates!

I finished The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time which can be used at later stops so I've added it to the books log.
