Review: A groom of one's own by Maya rodale
Rating:2 stars
This book is one of the initial books written by Maya rodale and that is very evident and noticeable in her writing style.
It seems like she has just blandly written down all the tropes and elements of a historical romance novel . But there is no emotion or passion in the story
The idea of the series is really good - the four writing girls but the execution really needs to improve.
The hero/ heroines story whatever isn't really inspiring or made me feel really invested in it. I felt like oh god just let this book be over . Why am I having to read this book.
The only interesting part in this book was that the author also wrote from the pov of the heroes fiancée. She and her story were in fact what is interesting about the book . Her happy ending was what I was invested in. In conclusion don't waste your time on this book. I try my level best not to write negative reviews but this was just bad!

Review: I absolutely loved this book. It kept me interested. I was never quite sure who did what and what specific role someone might have played in Theo's disappearance. Every time I thought I knew what might've happened, I was never right. I loved how Morton just kept me guessing. This was the first book I read by Kate Morton and I think I will have to read some of her other books.

Fellworth Dolphin, 38 year old virgin, under the thumb of his mother, working as a waiter to pay the bills, finds his life suddenly changed when she dies. He finds himself very well off with a lot of questions about where all this money came from. He then discovers that there are no photos of him as a child and only pictures of unknown people in the one album he finds.
When an aunt, whose personality matches his mother's offers to move in to care for him, he pretends an engagement to his one friend, Maggie, a plain girl he works with. Maggie also has a lousy home life with a floozy of a mother. They agree to share Fell's house and maintain the pretend engagement until they straighten out their lives.
The two begin fixing up the house and searching for answers concerning Fell's background and the money. Much of the mystery revolves around whether or not his father may have been involved in a 20 year old train robbery. Things begin to get dangerous. There are side stories involving other love interests and the mysterious photos. All in all a satisfying little mystery.

this more about 2.5 stars...
I got this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review...
I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to love this book. It had a lot of potential to be a 5 star book, it just never got there. to me it seemed like the same writing over and over not really getting to any point until the end. it was like a whole book of someone talking to themselves which was quite confusing until you figured it out. I honestly thing this story could be cut in half. Then my friends it would be a 5 star read.
Milly has a split personality. Amelia the the bully in her mind. She is the only that tells her she is ugly and never good enough .she also is the one is trying to convince her to kill herself. Milly will write in her diary about how could someone like Amelia hate her so much, yet she is so abused with her. I was confused when first reading this book because it made it sound like Amelia was another person chasing her in school and that it she was a bully. I was hooked until i found it was an alter ego... this will go on for like 60 pages.. GAG ME..
Milly lives with her grandpa because her parents are dead. when a fire breaks out she is forced to live with her aunt Rachel. her aunt seems to hate her and her grandfather. Amelia makes her start digging and she found her aunts diary. things just didn't make sense. she found a grave in the garden and having dreams that seemed real. milly will start to find out what this mystery is but it will come with a price.
Milly will find out what friends are real friends and who are foe. Also, milly will find a new friend in places she never thought were possible. Milly will also have to come to terms with her new found disability and how to live with it

This book was lame. It had the typically YA being thrown into a magical school setting and being super powerful. That part I was okay. I mean hey who doesn't love Harry Potter. Where it went wrong for me was the heroine. She is in the start of a love triangle which is wrong on so many levels. Especially when you add teenage angst. Additionally, she cries ALOT. I understand that this whole thing is stressful but crying because she does not see her boyfriend for an ENTIRE day is a bit too much for me. I mean honestly she could have died after such a tragic event. It also means that there is something terribly wrong with the relationship. GAG me. I will not be continuing this series. I can already predict how the entire thing is going to go.
Guys I'm really really sorry but I will have to withdraw from the team . I have this huge work thing going on right now and forget about reading I haven't even started my book . I have absolutely no time on my hands . I just came back from work and this is going to continue till 3rd Feb. Extremely sorry again but I thought I will be able to manage and I couldn't .

★★★½✩ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Okay, I tried to read this via paperback several times. I really enjoy this author's Paws and Claws Mystery series, but I just couldn't get into this other series by the printed word. It really irked me that the mother and sister were so dismissive of the protagonist's feelings. Frustrating! I had to power through those scenes. (All while being extremely thankful my mom wasn't like that.)
For some reason unknown to me, I decided to get it on audio, which is nicely narrated by Hillary Huber, and I'm glad I did. (Even though the trashing of the crime scene still made me shake my head, I reminded myself that in most of these cozies I have to suspend belief.) Sophie's rival, Natasha, really bugged me at first...but then, duh, she's supposed to! Still, when I tried via paperback to read her (Natasha's) advice at the beginning of most chapters - I cringed and couldn't handle them. Nevertheless, hearing those outrageous, "Martha Steward Perfection" expectations made me LOL via audio! Too funny. Juxtaposed to Sophie's, they were even funnier.
I'll continue with the series. We'll see if it's via paperback or audio.

Y'all are okay with 6 players. I'm not adding anyone.
@Karen: I hope work gets smoother for you. I'm sorry to see you go. Take care dear and come back next round.

Chat Love by Justine Faeth
I received this from the author for an honest review. I liked this one. It is definitely fun and easy read. This book is about Lucia and her search for love. I enjoyed the main character relationship with the main love interest. Great banter between them. I also enjoyed her relationship with her friends. The thing that annoyed me a lit bit was the Lucia could get almost whiny. However that is a small part of the last part of the book. I do recommend this one looking for a fun contemporary read.

Book: Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie (#1 in the series)
Date finished: 1-28-2016
Rating: 5 stars
Review: This is the second book I have read by Agatha Christie. And I must say I like this first book in the Miss Marple series way better than the first Hercule Poirot book. I love how even though the series is about Miss Marple, the story isn't told from her point of view. It's told from the vicar's point of view instead with Miss Marple's views on the case coming from him talking to her or others telling him about conversations they had with her.
Figuring out the case in this book was super difficult. I could never accurately say it was one person who killed Protheroe because then they'd find some other clue and it would seem like someone else did it. So, naturally I was suspicious of everyone. I absolutely loved this book and plan to continue with the series.

Thanks Ezi. A co-worker informed me that I could use the mobile version and switch to the desktop version. I never knew that and completely just thought there was the app and the computer. Oh the slow moments I have haha. But it worked great. Review's up and formatted.

Jacobia "Jake" Triptree, former Wall Street money expert, and her friend Ellie come upon the washed up body of an old flame of Ellie's while walking the beach in Eastport, ME. Jake has left NYC with her son for a less stressful life in Maine, but instead of enjoying her fixer-upper and her new boyfriend she finds herself involved in helping her friend find out who killed Ken and the sudden rash of additional bodies. Things get more complicated when her ex arrives, and she finds that a former financier she helped send to prison has established a llama farm (?) in the next town. I love this town and its characters, seeing Jacobia grow as a person and out of her ex's controlling mindset, her relationship with her son and her boyfriend and the solving of a good mystery.

★★★★✩ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Karen White does her usual wonderful job narrating this next installment of the Cedar Ridge series. Good vocal differentiations, tones, and pacing.
Honestly, I didn't think I was going to like this one. I've had enough of the ravages of cancer to my loved one and my patients to last several lifetimes and didn't really want to mix it with my escapist romance reading. However, in the deftly creative and gently hands of Jill Shalvis, it is well done.
I definitely was rooting for the romance between cancer survivor Bailey Moore and her “mountain hottie” Hudson Kincaid, AKA Hud. The best things were the conversations between these two opposites and how they would listen to the other's viewpoint on different topics and come away with a few epiphanies.
Of course, the dynamics between the Kincaid family members continue to produce a chuckle or a bittersweet ache, making me get even more attached to this family. Thus, I'm really looking forward to Nobody But You, featuring Hud's absent twin, Jacob, which comes out March 2016.

Carter Reed... So I put off reading this book for a long time because I wasn't super wild about the first one. Overall it was okay. I enjoyed that they were a solid couple throughout without any fights. What I didn't enjoy was her sticking her head in the sand. I wanted her to take a more aggressive role in her protection. She did ask for him to train her but that kinda of puttered out. I would have preferred it if she really did learn how to fight with him. Overall it was meh.

This is a very cute book. I love the characters. Especially the heroine Marla Jean Bandy. I love the banter in this book. It was so much fun to read. If you are looking for a fluffy contemporary I would give this one a try.
