✔Halloween is a contraction of All Hallows Evening: Read a book with a Contraction in the title

Ghost Story - Jim Butcher 10/15

✔Early Halloween celebrations could have been influenced by Pagan Samhain rituals: Read a book where a character practices Wicca or is a witch
Captive Spirit - Anne Windsor 10/7

✔Samhain is celebrated at the same time as Halloween, but for different reasons-it focuses on the end of the harvest and the loss (death) of the consort God: Read a book set in the season of Fall, where a crop is harvested or where a main character loses something or someone close to them.

✔Haunted attractions are entertainment venues designed to thrill and scare patrons. They include haunted houses, corn mazes, and hayrides: Read a book where someone gets scared going to a building or field
What a Ghoul Wants - Victoria Laurie 10/8
(castle is haunted by vicious ghosts and all the characters are terrified of entering)

✔Halloween has several different foods associated with it, like candy/caramel apples, candy corn, Monkey Nuts (peanuts in the shell), and Roasted pumpkin seeds: Read a book that is a guilty indulgence for you, a book that has a brown cover, or a book that has the colors yellow, orange and white all on the cover

READ: 7/7

✔3. What was the last book you read?
Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Cather
Sentenced to Death - Lorna Barrett (death in title) 10/22
Sentenced to Death (Booktown Mystery, #5) by Lorna Barrett

✔4. What is your favorite genre or series of books?
My favorite genre has to be historical fiction, without a doubt – especially if you throw in some romance as well! However, my two favorite series are not historical at all. I LOVE Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum Series and James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club Series.
The Art of Duke Hunting - Sophia Nash (historical fiction/romance) 10/13
The Art of Duke Hunting (Royal Entourage, #2) by Sophia Nash

✔8. What is your favorite movie and/or song?
I can never, never pick just one! Some of my all-time favorite movies include: Ghost, Forrest Gump, The Last of the Mohicans, A Walk in the Clouds and 7 Pounds. My list of songs would go on forever so let’s go with one from my high school days – Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi. I’ll pick one more that’s more recent. Disturbed made a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence and I think it’s pretty great.
Ghost Story - Jim Butcher 10/15
Ghost Story (The Dresden Files, #13) by Jim Butcher

✔9. What challenge or type of challenge is your favorite to participate in?
I’ve recently discovered role-play and more open-ended challenges and I’m loving those, but I still can’t resist a good ole spell-it-out challenge.
Mister X - John Lutz (used for an "X") 10/3
Mister X (Frank Quinn, #5) by John Lutz

✔11. What was the first book that you remember reading/being read?
I remember reading Nancy Drew books before anything else.
What a Ghoul Wants - Victoria Laurie (light-hearted mystery) 10/8
What a Ghoul Wants (Ghost Hunter Mystery, #7) by Victoria Laurie

✔17. If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future?
I would definitely go to the past to see if I could survive in the times I love to read so much about!
The Devil Wears Kilts - Suzanne Enoch (set in 1800's) 10/17
The Devil Wears Kilts (Scandalous Highlanders, #1) by Suzanne Enoch

✔20. What's your preferred method of reading? i.e. paperback, e-reader, audio, etc.
I’ve made my way through the progression, I guess, but I rarely read a “real” book anymore. I’ve made the transition to almost entirely audiobooks this year and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
14th Deadly Sin - James Patterson (listened to audiobook) 10/7
14th Deadly Sin (Women’s Murder Club, #14) by James Patterson
