I finished listening to Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare, I-Team #3, and it's my favorite to date in the series. Here's my review.

I finished reading Show No Fear by Marliss Melton and enjoyed it. Here's my review.

I'm now reading What We Find by Robyn Carr, first book in her new Sullivan's Crossing series. I'm listening to The Widow by Fiona Barton.

Great news, because she had fallen into a slump. I can hardly wait!

Cathy Skendrovich I just finished The Pirate Lord by Vanda Vadas. It was ok, but I had to force myself to finish it. It needed a good editor to tighten the plot up. Now I'm on to Erica Ridley's Too Sinful to Deny, my autographed copy! How cool is that?

Congrats on snagging this! I was turned down but was kind of okay since I want the audiobook version. Thanks for confirming our suspicions that this is a really good one.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1488 comments I got rejected for The Obsession by Nora Roberts too. I have it in my "Recommended for Purchase" file at my library. In the past I've gotten a copy not long after publication. To hear that someone has read it and likes it makes all to effort to get a copy worthwhile.

Susan - be sure to post a link to your review.

Britney, the Immortals After Dark series is fantastic! If you like listening to books, you'll love this on audio. It's narrated by Robert Petkoff, one of the best in the business.

I started the Immortals after dark series from you recommending it a few days ago :) I got through the first one and really liked it! ( I almost had to quit until I got halfway through. The whole kidnapping scene was bothering me.....) I am about halfway through No rest for the Wicked and I'm losing interest I think. I feel like there isn't enough love. I neeeeeed love lol. Just seems like he's chasing her and she's resisting and then the book will be over. :/

I have never listened to a book by audio. I've always been nervous to do that. I almost did last night but I was afraid I would hate it so I didn't. Why do you prefer audio over reading? I'd be interested to hear, becuase I always felt like hearing someone else read would make me have different feelings about the book instead of hearing my own voice in my head - if that makes sense. :/

The first two books are the weakest so hang in there.

Reason for audio? Robert Petkoff is amazing!!!! When you get to the third book and beyond, the mythology gets more complicated and the world building intricate. Petkoff distinguishes all these characters and adds excitement and emphasis where the story demands. He's just wonderful.

I switched to audio after #5 and I wish I'd started with that format.

message 177: by Britney (new)

Britney | 380 comments So do you only do audio with every book? How do you find out who does them? And when you buy a book with audio , do you have an option of turning it off?

message 178: by Jonetta (last edited Mar 20, 2016 03:14PM) (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7080 comments Mod
1. No, I read most of my books but prefer audio for mysteries/suspense/thrillers and urban fantasy, especially when it's a good narrator. I find the reading experience is better via audio for these genres.

2. You can check on Amazon, selecting the Audible edition, to learn the narrator. Also, most of the time you'll see the narrator listed with the audio editions here on Goodreads. I only go to Amazon or Audible if the information isn't here.

3. If you buy a Kindle edition with Whispersync, that means the Audible audio comes with it. Often you're offered a discounted fee to attach Whispersync, which you only activate if you want.

4. I download most of my audiobooks from the library. Then I add them to my iTunes library and listen to them on my iPhone.

This series is considered paranormal romance first, even though there's lots of action. I gave the first book 3 stars, the second 4, and the third 5 stars.

Here's my review of the next book. I think it may be helpful.

Britney | 380 comments Oops! I didn't read the prequel so I guess technically I started with book two and am reading three. So I guess in my previous comment about them, it would be I loved book two, after really not liking gone beginning. And am having a hard time finishing book 3. Sebastian chasing her all over and her resisting and I get it but It just seems like the book is almost over and no love lol. So how's book 4? :)

It may not be the series for you. Here's my review of the fourth book.

Might I give you some recommendations of some really great contemporary romance series? Do you think that would be better?

message 183: by Britney (new)

Britney | 380 comments I would love suggestions from you any and all the time! Lol!
My favorite thing is paranormal romance no doubt. But it just has to have love. I can read a contemporary Romance sometimes but I just get bored unless there is something supernatural going on it seems. Have you read Nora's stars of mithra books? Those are about as none paranormal as I want to go right now and even they had a mystical feel sometimes. Something along the lines of the BDB series and all, of Nora's trilogies is what I'm wanting. Love, friends/family relationships, lots of love, suspense and action. Am I confusing you?

message 184: by Britney (new)

Britney | 380 comments Oh and I'll just add, the law enforcement love of any kind is not something I like right now. I think everything I have picked up has some sort of cop. And I think I may be the only one on the planet that didn't like any of the In Death books...

I'd start with Midnight Breed. IMO, both of the other series have weak first books but then get really good. The Breed works from page one.

I'm up to the third book after having resumed the series last year. My distraction had nothing to do with the series (blog commitments). You're going to love Raphael and Elena.
