I'll host Clapham starting in early April if that fits with PI's schedules.

Lost my post...arrgh. Okay on Clapham then. I'll host if no one else wants to. And if we cannot find movie, we can follow along via book. Or both. Whatever works best for The PI's.

I'll start discussion first week of April. Will pin down day once I get past some backlog here.

I am ready any time.

I have tons of things on CD but I just got a new car (after 11 years!) and none of the new cars have CD players. I can download them through the computer onto flash drives, or onto my phone and plug that in. Seems a lot of work. Perhaps Hoopla or Audible can help me with this.

message 1154: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I bought a new car in June 2017 and didn’t realize until that December (when I tried to listen to a Christmas CD) that it didn’t have a CD player! 🤣

Congrats to you new car owners! Happy trails to you! My ride is a bit older but I love her smooth drive and that she has a CD player. LOL For my BD, I spent my B&N gift card at the CD rack. Got Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac, Dan Fogelberg and Steely Dan CD's. That was my favorite era of music. Memories!

I think the music of the 70's and 80's are my faves. I'm not much into what is current, now.

message 1157: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I could listen to Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan all day long!

You got that right, Pghfan. The current stuff is not music, it's awful. :-/

Same here, Nicole. Phil Collins, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Steely Dan, The Corrs, Blondie. Love it all!

With 2020 being a lost year, I'm taking stock of my losses...and gains in the form of 10 unwanted pounds etc. I am trying to shake them off and so far so good. I'm almost there. And for the first time ever, I've joined a gym. That was scary. Worse than any whodunit I ever read. LOL I'm such a klutz but at least I'm doing something to dig myself outta this funk.

How are the PI's climbing up and back out of the Covid abyss? Share please. :-)

message 1161: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I'm starting to go back to the gym but only until we get the rest of our home exercise equipment set up.

message 1162: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments We bought an elliptical! We have a bike but it bothers my knees. I was diagnosed with a weird allergy last August (alpha-gal, I was bit by a tick) and put on 15 pounds because I can't eat mammals or mammal byproducts but I can eat Oreos, lol!

I, too have gained a bit and really need to take it off! I guess I am climbing out fairly well, because most of my close friends has new been double vaxxed more than two weeks ago. We are getting together for dinners at one another's houses and are able to hug one another after a excruciating year plus! Right now, I am with two friends in a trip about 140 miles from home, enjoying some touristy things, but safely. (Still masking up!)

Awesome, PugMom. That's the best way IMHO. Always a clean machine free to use. Good on you!

Oreos! I heard they heal all ills. LOL I'd kill for one right about now but I have to settle for mango green tea.

"Ouch," on the knees, Nicole. I've problems w/my left so I can identify. Mine had been quiet for a few years and now it's acting up since starting the gym even though I'm not working it too hard. Still, any use causes it to act up.

message 1168: by Tina (new)

Maybe do a short story for June as we all seem to be in catch-up mode. One that perhaps has a movie adaptation? Just floating it out there for you all.

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments That's fine with me, Tina. :-)

Thanks, Nicole. That's two PI's for a short story. If we go that way, then on to selecting a title. Post away PI's.

How about discussing the "long lost" Miss Marple story. Not sure if it is in any collection. At this link in its entirety. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...

My computer shut me out from getting a copy. Mmm? Anyone know if I can get a copy thru Kindle? I don't mind paying a few $ if so.

Or can a PI C&P it to a link or or body of e-mail and e-it to me? If no on any of the above, go ahead and discuss though I'd love to see this one....UPDATE. :-)

Is title, The Case of the Caretaker's Wife? If so, I gots it. (Kindle copy - $.99). If no, run title by and I'll sleuth it out. Thanx, PI's!

message 1179: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Tina, I can C&P today and send to you, or is there a way to attach a file to the group board? :-)

I think, since the story is short, that I will have two posts where we can discuss the whole story, one with spoilers and one without.

As far as I know, we have just set up this one discussion, on the Caretaker story.

If there are any other suggestions, please let us know.

If nothing shows up, I suggest a story or two from Christie's short story collection, Three Blind Mice and other Stories. I chose this for an upcoming class I'm teaching in my OSHER lifelong learning group.

During the spring, in my Agatha Christie class, several people asked about reading some of her work and discussing it. So I proposed this class and it is set up for September. And it will be IN-PERSON!

Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to read one or two stories from the book.

Any thoughts?

message 1190: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments How exciting, Mark!!! I'm on board with another couple of stories from the book. :-)

I wouldn't mind a Diane Mott Davidson if it's one of the more recent ones as I've read most of her earlier works. Anything of hers that are recent, Pghfan?

Nicole, are there any after the Koi Pond mystery?

message 1200: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Yes, Debonair in Death is the next in the series. If we ever decide to read Koi Pond I know we can get the author to participate, she's super friendly!
