PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I added a fall picture but you don't have to use it if others find better pics. Don't know if you're all sick of my pug pics by now LOL

A little early for the masthead photo to show snow but I couldn't find anything with autumn feel. Still open for a turkey themed photo should we find any. However, Pugs got our thumbnail photo covered. ;-)

:-( I tried photo, Nicole, but upload kicked it saying picture short of 970 wide X 245 high. Not to make more work for you but might you be able to stretch photo borders larger? That might fill in gap. I'll leave spot open should you want to try. Thanks, Nicole. Photo's "adorbs!"

message 557: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Maybe if I save it in Photobucket I can customize the size.

message 558: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Hey Tina what is the total required size. I think I can resize the pic in Fotor if I know what #s I need.

message 559: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
970 x 245 or larger.

message 560: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Ok, I made 2 more. One is 970 X 245 and one is larger. Hopefully one will work!!

I know! Not like you haven't tried. Thanks, Nicole! I'll be on my trusty device tomorrow and give it a go. One of them should work. ;-)

message 562: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Sorry, no-go, Nicole. :-( I think issue is with larger #. GR requires 970 or more and your Charlie's are coming in as 700.

So sorry and thanks for your perseverance on the matter. With their guidelines being so picky, it's a wonder there are any photos posted. Appreciate your creative cuties and hard work. Thanks again!!

message 563: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments The site said it was bigger than that so who knows.

If you'd like to try again, that's fine. Just don't want to give you more work if no. The internet is indeed the new Wild West!

You're not rushing things, NicoleG. Actually, you're right on time.

Just a thought re: Jan. pick -- If we go back to one main read and maybe one side (or no side read) , should we consider Toy Soldier as the side or leave it behind in '17? I'd still like to read it but could either leave it on 2017 thread or bring it (so to speak) forward to 2018. Any thoughts?

And are there any great Jan. themed mysteries anyone knows of for us to consider?

I probably have time for a main read for January, but not a side read. I am nearly done with No Clue at the Inn, and should be finished in a few days.

I am taking a "life-long education" class in January, offered through the university I used to work at. It is about Female Sleuths and promises discussions on Miss Marple, Miss Silver and some more recent examples. There will probably some reading associated with that, so I will need to monitor my reading obligations!

That sounds like fun! I've been thinking about taking some sort of class as well. Must research! I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know who Miss Silver is.......

I don't either, Nicole. We'll have to find out more. lol Just incase she has a mystery series out. ;-)

Miss Silver is a spinster detective created by Patricia Wentworth and is in the classic old-school type and time frame. Similar to Miss Marple, though not quite so endearing. Our group read one of Miss Silver's adventures a few years ago, around this very time, since it takes place on New Year's Eve. The title was The Clock Strikes Twelve.

Down with that thing that's going around. Ugh! Doctor, prescription etc. Pghfan, if you will, go ahead and do the pick for Jan title. I'll go along with whatever the PI's choose.

I heard that, NicoleG. Came down with it but just after Christmas. Luckily, I got doc appt. 'fore New Year's. So, we had Christmas but were sidelined for New Year's.

The Alienist is coming to TV at Jan. end. Wanted to but never got to read the book. I'll def. see the TV version. Not sure if it's in a series or a one episode production.

Anyone in The Parlor ever read it?

Nope. Didn't read it. Not really heard of it either, though the ad for the TV version has been on my screen for, it seems like forever!

PI's, maybe it was LovesMysteries who read it. Mmm? Anyway, I've wanted to but just never got 'round to it. Having it come to the screen will be more than great. May move me to finally read the book. Here's the cover. You've probably seen it around.

Here's another suggestion for a good mystery flick with a twist at end. The Limehouse Golem. Really good IMHO. It's been out on our UVerse picks so I believe it is available in DVD and probably at libraries. See it if you can. ;-)
