Lexx pointed out maybe the dinosaurs built a pyramid and that's why it's an archaeological thriller.
I was about to say "That sounds like AvP" but that's aliens not dinosaurs! I think I need to wake up a bit :-)
Maybe the dinosaurs where the Aliens in AvP and then they built pyramids and then died and were dug up in this book for an archaeological thriller when they all ate everyone again!!
Rusalka wrote: "Maybe the dinosaurs where the Aliens in AvP and then they built pyramids and then died and were dug up in this book for an archaeological thriller when they all ate everyone again!!"I think you should write that story. I would read that.
Rusalka wrote: "The book is going to be so disappointing now..."
It so is!
I'm looking for a book set in Quebec - any suggestions? (Other than Louise Penny's Armand Gamache series as I've read them all.) Thanks!

I don't think it's up-to-date. There are likely new ones in the last three years.
I've selected Déjà Dead as I don't seem to have a mystery book on my list yet and besides Cherie gave it 5 stars! :-)I'm looking for my last two - 1) book with the sun on the cover and 2) book with French food. Love this challenge - it is so creative and takes us around the world - thanks Janice!
Kristie wrote: "Lilisa - Do you read YA at all? The 5th Wave has a dominant sun on the cover.
"No Kristie :-) but I may have to if I can't find one! I'll keep digging but will put it on my maybe list just in case - thanks though!
I think I've found the perfect book for French food French Lessons: Adventures with Knife, Fork, and Corkscrew!
might work, Lilisa. I've not read it yet, but it gets very high ratings and is on my to read list.
clearly works and looks very interesting to me. Another one on my tbr list.
was good. Might work, not sure.

Thanks a ton TJ - will also check these out!
Lilisa - I also found
I haven't read any of these, so I'm not sure how good they are. I found a few others, but the sun was hidden behind something and I didn't think it showed enough.
Does a drawn sun count? How about:
Lilisa wrote: "Hi Janice - will
qualify for a cover with the sun?"I can't even tell what that is on the cover. It looks more like a reflection of the light from the sun and not the sun itself.
The only one that Tejas Janet suggested would be Wilderness. It must be the sun - not the reflection of the light of the sun.
Sarah wrote: "Has anyone read Tyrannosaur Canyon? It has teeth on the cover so I could use it for that but I wondered if it is about dinosaurs (I'm guessing they'll be dead ones). The blurb says it..."I remember reading it several years ago. There are bones involved. I was planning on using it for "fossils".
Also to the port setting possibly The Last Kingdom I don't know if it has enough of a role but there arw vikings coming and going through out it
I think I saw a book with a sun on the cover on Almeta's challenge list, Lilisa. The book I am going to read for the sun on the cover is a YA book that I bought and have never had a chance to read. It is
Thanks everyone for being so helpful with suggestions for the sun cover. I didn't see the flood of suggestions after Kristie amd TJ's and Janice's response here (hence the same Q Janice in the other thread not too long ago - oops) All Goodreads' alerts don't pop up for me so missed these. So, IM going to go with TJ's suggestion Wilderness: A Journal of Quiet Adventure in Alaska--Including Extensive Hitherto Unpublished Passages from the Original Journal - it sounds the most interesting and Janice approves! :-)
Travis of NNY wrote: "Also to the port setting possibly The Last Kingdom I don't know if it has enough of a role but there arw vikings coming and going through out it"And for those looking for a sun on the cover, this would work.
Peggy wrote: "Half of a yellow sun has also sun covers. I'll be reading that one.
"I've read it Peggy and really enjoyed it. Hope you do too.
Peggy wrote: "Half of a yellow sun has also sun covers. I'll be reading that one.
"I have that one too and will probably use it, if I use the sun location.
Lilisa - I had to put your book on my list! It is about the longest titles I have seen in a while, except for one Travis posted not too long ago. It is also set on an island, which there is a task for. I am hoping my library will have it!
Cherie wrote: "Lilisa - I had to put your book on my list! It is about the longest titles I have seen in a while, except for one Travis posted not too long ago. I realized I hadn't checked the books I own - lol - and lo and behold I had one with the sun on the cover!
Another question for you all. Those of you who have read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, French food in there at all? I would assume Guernsey has a lot of French cuisine.
Delitealex wrote: "Anyone have any possibilities set in Australia that are fantasy or scifi"Missed this sorry. Hard one as most Aussie fantasy and Sci fi I know is set in created worlds, or elsewhere. But here's a few on my shelf:
The Natural Way of Things - got this for my birthday and am super keen to read this. Getting rave reviews.
Tomorrow, When the War Began series - dystopian invasion of Australia by another unnamed country and teenagers who live in the bush and fight them.
Victor Kelleher - read a few of his as a kid.
Emily Rodda - as above.
Not read yet or not my thing:
On the Beach - classic
Chatting to one of my best friends who is an English teacher, and she recommends Nightpeople
The Business of Death - haven't read but urban fantasy set in Brissie (Brisbane, Queensland)
Greg Egan - Lexx has a few of his books and I just looked and he has HEAPS published. Maybe one of those is set in Aus?
John Birmingham - has many sci fi military alternate history series. Maybe some of those set here? I read his He Died With A Felafel In His Hand and The Tasmanian Babes Fiasco
Bloody Matthew Reilly *waves fists*
Cherie read The Darwin Elevator recently and liked it from memory.
Others who are Australian but not sure if any are set here: Scott Westerfield (lives here half the year), Traci Harding, Garth Nix, Jennifer Fallon , Sara Douglass
Kylie Chan, Max Barry
http://www.theguardian.com/books/2013... lots here
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... may help too
And you should read The Rook even though it's set in London.
There's a start for you.

Wow so many possibilities most I haven't heard of thanks for bringing them to my attention :) I definitely plan to read The Rook I just don't know when. I read mostly fantasy and sci fi and noticed I hadn't read any set in Australia when I was thinking about books for this challenge.
No worries at all. I thought other people may be interested for Aussie ideas, or just the huge amount of fantasy and sci fi readers we have. So kinda brain dumped. Will let you know if I think of more. Isobelle Carmody is another one, but I don't think her books are set in Aus. This was the conversation that I was having with my English teacher friend, and she gave the suggestion. It's now sparking lots of conversations on Facebook, so will let you know if more pop up from that too.
Rusalka wrote: "Another question for you all. Those of you who have read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, French food in there at all? I was about to say that if there was any food it probably was not very significant (I also watched Star Wars Episode 1 yesterday and had already forgotten that at the end of Episode 6 (view spoiler) so my memories of books and movies should not be trusted) and that's why I googled it. I came across this: "Food is tied very tightly with this story– as evident from the book’s title. There’s mention of food in just about every letter."
Whether it is French enough I don't know. They talk about potato peel pie and other dishes that they have to deal with because they have so little stuff because of the war, but also remember the good food.
I have been reading more YA recently and The Red Queen was mentioned which came out recently. Many people were talking about the Obernewtyn Chronicles I'd never heard of it before then. I hope to read the first book sometime the series seems interesting.

Lexx and this friend of mine been waiting for the series to finish for the last 20 years. The last book came out in November, and Lexx is making it wait, like it made him wait.
Peggy wrote: "I came across this: "Food is tied very tightly with this story– as evident from the book’s title. There’s mention of food in just about every letter."Thanks Peggy. And that's too funny about Star Wars. But I don't think you need to spoiler that for anyone besides yourself :P
I have The Darwin Elevator ready for my set in Australia task. Thanks for the other recs Rusalka. I've added a few of those to my list.I can't comment on the Guernsey book about French food but haven't you still got The Lollipop Shoes to read? (I know I have) and that will be full of french food I'm sure.
I do indeed. But looking through the tasks it looks like I have 3 or so of her books to read next year, so was looking for other options. I enjoy her writing, but I need to mix up my genres and authors a lot. 3 or more French food romps will drive me a little insane.
I get that Rusalka. I don't blame you. I started reading Blackberry Wine for the food challenge you set earlier in the year and I didn't get far with it. It's put me off her a little so I'm going to take a break and come back to them another time.
