Yeah, I seems pretty emotional according to the blurb description.

Does anyone have anything good for Turtle, Iguana, Albatross, Pelican, Flamingo, Whale, or Dolphin on the cover / in the title, besides Island of the Blue Dolphins?
Kristie, I'm reading The Lost Flamingoes of Bombay
for that taskAnd with a turtle in the cover I remember a funny and quick read The Tower, The Zoo, and The Tortoise
It is also a white cover!
Kristie wrote: "Does anyone have anything good for Turtle, Iguana, Albatross, Pelican, Flamingo, Whale, or Dolphin on the cover / in the title, besides Island of the Blue Dolphins?"How about
? Like the plastic flamingo in her yard?
Cherie wrote: "Hi Janice, I need a ruling on this cover
. Is it red enough to be 70%? I cannot decide and you can shoot me down if needed. ;) If no, where can I apply it?"That is a tough one to read, isn't it? I was going to give it to you and then I pulled up the book and enlarged the cover. You might squeeze 60% out if you're lucky.
Unfortunately, I'm going to send you back to the drawing board.
Rusalka wrote: "Oh and maybe devout people. " Italian republicans strangle priests with their own intestines. " sounds pretty devout..."Sounds fanatical.
Cherie wrote: "I guess I have another to offer to Miss Meanie. Does this fit for the painting task in France? The Bellini Madonna: A Novel"How to win friends and influence people. Miss Meanie says....

anyone looking for a tower of london book and ambitious enough to pick up Neal Stephensons baroque series or whstever it is called. The tower may be in other installments vut it plays a large role in Solomon's Gold (The Baroque Cycle, Vol. 3, Book 1).
I have Quiksilver which is apparently book 1 in the baroque cycle so I'm guessing your vol 3 book is part of this one Travis ?!
Sarah, this series is so comolicated. Originally it was three parts but later it was broke into 8 parts. If you look at goodreads series of 8 books it breaks down the way I read them. I will look to see which book I read it as though.
So it's probably the final book in the 3 book version. Not sure I'll get that far. They are all pretty chunky.

Kristie, do you read cozy mysteries? There is a very funny series by Donna Andrews for which all the titles have birds in the name. One of the books in the series is Revenge of the Wrought-Iron Flamingos. I remember it as being good.

by Tim Dorsey would work.
I just stumbled across a book suitable for mountain vacation - With No Remorse. It's also set in Peru.Book blurb starts: "His quiet vacation in the Peruvian Andes turns deadly when a Black Ops, Inc. operative rescues a stunning stranger from a mysterious train robbery and discovers she's the target of a vengeful manhunt."

by John Dunning.

Janice, is it possible to collect all links in one post? Just thinking that if this thread is open for all of 2016 it might get tricky to find specific posts and people will likely not read through 50 pages first when they're looking for something.
Thanks for all the good recommendations. I can definitely read one of those. Several I'd be interested in. :)Casceil - I do read cozy mysteries. Thanks!
For anyone that's interested, the recommendation above - The Tower, the Zoo, and the Tortoise is set in the Tower of London.
Question - for the challenge, can tortoise be used for turtle?
Cherie wrote: "Tejas Janet wrote: "Whaat, Cherie, you're asking Janice to tell you where to apply a : )"No, I wasn't exactly asking Janice. I was hoping someone else woul..."
Rusalka gave all the possibilities that could work i think. Looks like a wolf to me. Oh no, another book added to my tbr list!
Thanks, Sandra :) I was concerned because the Me and You are so big on the cover and I really want to read it :)
Travis of NNY wrote: "I would have thought there would be murder mysteries or cozy mysteries involvong a ski resort"Yeah, I read one last year that was pretty good - To Hell in a Handbasket. 3 and a half stars I seem to recall rating it.
Peggy wrote: "Janice, is it possible to collect all links in one post? Just thinking that if this thread is open for all of 2016 it might get tricky to find specific posts and people will likely not read through..."I can update message 1. I probably won't do it tonight. Maybe tomorrow night.
Kristie wrote: "Question - for the challenge, can tortoise be used for turtle? "Yes, that will be fine.
Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident looks intriguing but really creepy. It's about ten friends, mostly in their twenties, all students or graduates of Ural Polytechnic Institute, who went on a hiking/camping trip together in January of 1959. All but one of them died under strange circumstances on this trip. The one survivor was saved by contracting dysentery early in the trip, and so turned back. He died in 2013 at age 75.
Stephanie wrote: "Would
work for red cover? If not then I'm probably going to go with either
or [bookcover:The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs ..."That has to be the reddest cover I've seen Stephanie! I think you'll be fine with Me Before You. Wicked Appetite is also red but not so sure on the one with the dog on - half of it looks orange to me.
Peggy wrote: "There's a task for a book set between 1800 and 1899 or something, I think for India. From the description it seems your book might fit there Cherie :)"Thanks, Peggy. I will check it out for that one.
If somebody is still looking for a book set in Venice, this came up as a GR recommendation to me: Interrupted Aria. Available cheaply from Amazon. If an opera singer is considered a musician, it would work also for the musician task.
Stephanie wrote: "Thanks, Sarah. I was wondering mostly because the wording is so big on Me before you...:)"If the cover kind of screams red at you, I would say that you're safe.
Kelly B wrote: "Is this book OK for Hawaii, needing a coconut?
"Sounds like there are coconuts in the story, so you should be good.
For those looking for a great love or an artist/painting, I stumbled across The Danish Girl. Also set in Denmark. I've not heard of it before but it's apparently already/going to be a film.
Sarah wrote: "For those looking for a great love or an artist/painting, I stumbled across The Danish Girl. Also set in Denmark. I've not heard of it before but it's apparently already/going to be..."That one sounds good, Sarah.
Can anyone recommend books with giants in them? So far my thoughts are The BFG and Odd and the Frost Giants.
The second one is probably too short Sarah. I'm going to (re)read The BFG for this task. I haven't really thought about other books for the task, although I'm sure there must be lots of fantasy with giants. Don't some Harry Potter books also have giants? I'm not sure if their role is big enough to count though.edit: and perhaps books related to mythology? I don't have specific titles though, but it could be a starting point for a search.
Yes I noticed the second option was too short after I posted it. Yes I wondered about Harry Potter but I'm not sure which ones do and which ones don't. And you'd think there would be some in fantasy books. I don't recall ever reading one though. I'll keep searching. I really want to do the Ireland task if I can.
