I think that Cezanne's painting is what is called a Still Life, the life part is the fruit which was at one time alive, the rest of the picture consists of objects which were never alive, like bread crumbs, These objects are also incidental to the picture as bread crumbs are to life.

My knowledge of art is sadly pitiful but I have been told that fruit in a bowl is called a Still Life. I imagine that the life part is the fruit which was once alive (life) and the other inanimate objects in the painting are "bread crumbs" or extras to compliment the main subject of the painting.
