Finished:
5-4. The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson (7/15) - takes place almost exclusively outdoors & is almost an ode to the outdoors of Wyoming. Mostly all of the back half of the book takes place in a blizzard in a national park.
5-6. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon (5/24) - France/Scotland
5-7. The Thousand Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas & Jennifer Graham (4/2) - Veronica Mars book (the TV show was/is one of my favorite shows)
10-4. Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor (4/9) - set in many places outside the United States and in a fantasy world far, far away from the main characters homes on Earth. No character is in their home country/state during the course of the book
10-6. After the Golden Age by Carrie Vaughn (6/28) - had never read or heard anything by this author before finding/reading this book
10-7. Written in My Own Heart's Blood by Diana Gabaldon (6/22) - A couple weddings take place in the book and (besides the very fun fact that this was published this summer) I attended my cousin's wedding in April in Idaho, which was very fun
10-8. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart (6/11) - Emily Jenkins writes under the name E. Lockhart
15-4. Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bardugo (7/6) - Conclusion to Grisha Trilogy
15-5. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (5/19); Adapted into the STARZ tv series Outlander (the first episode "Sassenach" I watched on on-demand on 8/2); POST: It is amazing, very faithful to the books, if not in every detail than captures the essence of the books perfectly. It is very close to the way they have done the Hunger Games movies: in that they follow the books, but there are places where they have added for the visual audiences things the first person narrators would have only talked about inside her head or things that are mentioned but not necessarily "seen" by the reader. And like Hunger Games, near perfect casting.
15-6. Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo (7/5) - "Siege": a military operation in which enemy forces surround a town or building, cutting off essential supplies, with the aim of compelling the surrender of those inside.
15-7. Hell is Empty by Craig Johnson (8/9) - Metafiction: written with the structure/references of Dante's Inferno intentionally worked into the plot and characters
20-1. A Breath of Snow & Ashes by Diana Gabaldon (6/16)
20-2. 1) Vice: Trouble by Non Pratt (6/29); 2) Virtue: Kindness Goes Unpunished by Craig Johnson (7/24)
25-2. Death Without Company by Craig Johnson (7/22) - 4/27: Tell a Story Day; Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake (4/30) - 8/27: Just Because Day
25-5. American Revolution: The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon (6/11) - the early rumblings of the American Revolution; An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon (6/19) - covers both characters who are fighting for the Colonials and those fighting against; set in the early years of the American Revolution
25-6. 1) N. America: Any Other Name by Craig Johnson (7/11); 2) #2 set mostly on water: Voyager by Diana Gabaldon (6/11)
25-8. Rogues by George R. R. Martin & Gardner Dozois (7/31); In the Shadows by Kiersten White & Jim Di Bartolo (6/23) - "Rogues in the Shadows"
