What she didn't know was that he was still in control, if only by a hair. If he let that go--- there would be no going back. Things would get messy once again. And he didn't want that to happen while they were in the middle of this. Answering her question by taking her lips against his again.


"Maybe--- we'd just have to put a really good lock on the motel room so that they couldn't break out and find each other..." She said thinking it over, and the chances of that happening. But right now that was the only thing they had going. "Fine, we'll do it. But what are we going to do with Avery while their well-- not in commission?"

Ruby kissed him back gently and then moved to his neck. Her hands found the rim of his shirt ready to peel it off. She slowly removed the shirt and ran her hands up down his chest. "Nick baby kiss me." she begged right now she wanted Nick to be the one kissing her and teasing her. "Please." It drove her crazy not having him kiss her and touch her. She knew Nick would know that, maybe that was his intentions or maybe not.


"I don't know what we will do with Avery, yet, all I know is we need to get them separated now." Will said looking at Raven.

Nick knew that it was driving her crazy that he wasn't touching or kissing her right then. Leaning up and kissing her, again as he wrapped his arms around her waist once more. Wanting her but not willing to give over completely and let go. Something told him something would happen. Something worse when he had earlier when the elder had been here. What that something was though he didn't know. Kissing her in spite of it though.


"Alright.. lets go and get back. I have Avery asleep in the guest room and Derek is-- god knows where right now. So lets go and get it done so that they can't blame me for leaving there young daughter alone once all of this is taken care of." She said heading for their room to get dressed.

Ruby felt that he wasn't completely there as he was kissing her. It felt like he was completely distant and had a lot of thoughts in her head. "You haven't let go." she whispered softly. "Your mind is somewhere else, but besides kissing me." she whispered pulling away slowly.

Will nodded as he waited for her to get dress. When it appeared for her to be done he walked out the door and started to drive off in his car as fast as he could. To say he was obsessed with putting off a war is an understatement. When he arrived he opened the door to their house Ruby and Nick were on the couch. "Hi ya sorry for what's about to happen." He quickly snapped Ruby's neck and then quickly snapped Nick's before he could do anything about it. Ruby noticed Will and Raven and raised her brows confused, but then felt her neck being snapped. Her body fell over limply. Will pulled Nicks body to the car and drove to the motel as fast as he could. Walking in the motel and placing a heavy duty lock before he woke up.

Ruby woke up with a sore in her neck, but realized Nick was gone and saw Raven. "What did you do with Nick." She snapped. "I want Nick now." It caused her a new found pain she had given Nick her mind. She wanted Nick to have her mind, she wanted Nick to let go.

Raven had stayed with Ruby while Will had driven Nick to the motel room that they'd called for before hand. And had called her to let her know that he had safe guarded the room with locks and now he would be leaving to head back. But looked over again when Ruby demanded to know where Nick was and what they had done with him. "Don't worry, Nick is just fine.... He's safe. But I'm sorry you can't see him. Not until we know the threat has past."

Ruby knew how to get Nick to come for her. She went to the kitchen and grabbed a wooden spoon. "He's going to come to for me. He's going to come for me." Ruby glared at Raven. "I mean you would understand how I feel if you mated with your own kind." She hissed.

"He might try too. But he'll be unable to Ruby. You have to trust me when I tell you that right now it's best that you two are separated. Bad things could happen if he lost control and you two mated right now. What I have or haven't done with my own mate isn't important right now. What's important is that you trust me when I tell you this." Raven told her slowly, knowing it wouldn't go over well but she had to still try and get her to see reason. That if Nick lost control, and they were together--- things wouldn't turn out for the best. They would become under the Elders control, and in turn all the other vampires would fallow them. Regardless of what they thought themselves. They would still become followers of the royal couple and fall in line behind them to be given orders by the elders.

Ruby looked at Raven. "You don't understand a single thing. Bad things are going to happen Raven if you don't let Nick go
When Nick wakes up alone he will find a way to come to me. Even if it means letting go and killing you and Will. At least you will die with someone who really loves you." Ruby smirked another wave of pain coursed through her. NICK it hurts her knees trembling. "He's going to come for me and if you or Will stop him I'm sure he won't think twice about snapping your neck" She wanted Nick and that's the only person she wanted. "You never mess with a vampires mate"

Raven shook her head. "I'm sure he'll try.. but Will will find a way to handle it." Shaking her head no, after a moment. "No, me and Will ended things a long time ago. He doesn't love me like that and neither do I, him. We've both found our mates. Our true, mates. He has Grace and I have Derek. There is nothing more but that. But that doesn't matter now. What we're trying to do, what we Have to do, is stop Nick from loosing all control. Because if he does. Things wont just be bad for us, or the two of you. Things will be bad for the whole world. All of Vampire kind, along with the Weres' do you understand what I'm saying?"

When Nick wasn't answering her she looked down tears in her eyes. "Just shut up Raven, I don't care to hear your commentary." Ruby looked up at her. "I don't care about the werewolves. Your a were lover anyways, I mean first Will, then Derek. If you truly loved Derek you would spend at least some of your time. Your whole world rotates around you and Will" Ruby spatted and looked towards the window and jumps through it. She darted in the direction where she felt Nick was. She kept running until she was at a motel the door was lock. "Nick baby please I need you."

In someway Raven guessed Ruby was right. She spent more time with Will then she did with her own mate. But it wasn't by chose. If it wasn't for the war that they both knew was fast approaching.... and they didn't have to try and stop it. She would gladly spend every hour she could with her mate. A mate that was a werewolf. But still her mate. Taking a deep breath to try and push Ruby's inslutes away from her mind. Before running and jumping out the window and going into a full run. To where she knew Ruby would of run to. The motel room where Will had put Nick.



Nick had woken slowly. Not sure about what had happened, only to find himself nursing a very sore neck along with the fact that he was no longer inside the house they shared. Sitting up on the bed and looking around the small motel room. Smelling Will's sent. But he was already long gone. Why had he snapped his neck and then brought him here of all places? Why snap his neck at all? He wondered as he heard banging coming form outside of his door and Ruby yelling for him. Hopping up and going to go to the door.

"Nick, please open up," Ruby begged, feeling the pain spread more quickly. She looked to the side and saw a window. Ruby jumped through the window causing more scratches that were already bleeding. Tears ran down her face. "They want to separate us. Please don't let them separate us." Ruby was clearly shaken by this all she was processing was that Raven and Will didn't them together at the moment. "Don't let Raven take me without. Please don't let them. It hurts when I can't see you."

Nick looked up preparing to have to fight someone when the window burst into a million different pieces all around the room. But straightened up when he saw that it was Ruby. Seeing that she was all cut and bloody. Crossing the room to her. "What happened? Why are your arms all cut up?" More considered with that at the moment then why Will and Raven wanted them separated.

"She had the doors locked so I couldn't escape so I jumped through the window." She whispered softly looking up at him. "Then I jumped through the window here." Ruby started to cry. "Please don't let her come take me away." Ruby buried her face into Nick's chest holding on to tightly.

"I wont... but maybe we should try and at least hear why they don't want us together right now. Seeing as we both know neither of them would hurt us, not if they didn't have to." He told her wanting to look on the bright side of things.

Ruby shook her head. "No, they want to separate us. It hurts too much to be away from you. Please please don't side with them." She knew if he sided with them she might lose him forever. That he wouldn't want to be a vampire. "Don't," She had some chardes of glass stuck in her arm. "All I want is you to hold me and not let them take me."

"Shhh, I'm not going anywhere...." he told her leading her softly over to the bed and sitting her down on it and starting to remove the glass shards that were still embedded in her arm. "Alright, then I wont let them. But we also need to know why they did this to start with. Do you really believe after all this time they would just out of no where decide that we needed to be separated? For no reason at all? After Raven helped delivered Avery, and everything else they'd done for us?"

"All I know is that I want you and I don't want to be separated from. I don't want them taking you away from me." Ruby looked at him. "You're justifying what they did." She said looking at him hurt. Tears ran down her face. "I don't care if they have a reason they have no right to separate me from you." Ruby sniffled as she yawned. She knew the reason and wasn't going say because she didn't care. "I can't lose you to them. I can't have you not wanting to be a vampire."

"No, I'm not saying their right. And I'm not going to walk away from you. I'm staying right here. Okay? I'm right here." He told her taking her into his arms, thinking of why in the world they might try this. Might try to separate them. Then opening his eyes and looking over when Raven climbed- not jumped- through the window. Fallowed quickly by Will.

"Go away," Ruby said looking at them. "Go away." She curled into Nick even more. "Please Nick, don't let them take me away from you. You're staying right here with me." She repeated softly.

"Nick look if you let go then the elders can control both of you and then this can cause a war against the werewolves," Will said looking at him. "That's why we separated you two, that's the only way." He looked over at Ruby. "This will cause your connection to Ruby to grow weaker and prevent anyone talking you into letting go."

Ruby knew what it meant and she knew she could lose Nick because of it. "Nick isn't going to leave me," Ruby said. "You are both wasting your time. He wouldn't willingly do this."

Nick didn't want to believe that. Didn't want to believe that if he lost control-- just for a moment. It would cause them both to be under the control of the elders. But he did believe it. He had known --- in some way that if the elders ever got the chance to control them- find a way to. They would. Without even thinking twice. Then that would make them not just the oldest but the most powerful as well. And here just a couple hours ago, Ruby had been begging him to loose control. Let go of it. Had she known about this? About what him loosing control could do back an hour ago? Had she wanted it to happen? She couldn't have or else she wouldn't of been begging for him to do it. Looking between the two of them.


Raven nodded her head, in agreement with Will. Right after this was taken care of she was going to go home to her mate and spend as much time as she could with him and then do the same thing in the morning once he woke. And if he wasn't already home she would go out and find him and tell him exactly what was going on and why she had been so busy with Will these past couple of months. Then hopefully he wouldn't be so mad at her. "It's true.... and if The elders can control the both of you, then--- the rest of the vampire race will fallow suit and be under their control through the two of you."


Nick didn't know how to answer after he knew that. Every single vampire on earth--- controlled by the elders. And even if there connection did grow weaker they could always build it back up given time. "Is there any way that we could stay together without chancing me loosing control?"

Will shook his head. "Nick if you stay with Ruby, you have a high chance of losing control. No, contact physical or mental.I'm sorry if there was another way we would have said. Nick,please come with me to a secret location so this doesn't happen. The last thing we need is a war on our hands." Will had sorry written in his eyes.

Ruby didn't know what else to say or do she wanted Nick to let go. Everything was perfect she was so close to having Nick letting go. She would train him how to stay in control and all, but that wasn't going to happen now. Anger, sadness, and fear all gathered in her. Ruby deep down knew that it was the right thing for Nick to do, but for once she didn't want to think about the right thing. She wanted to be selfish for once in her life. That didn't make her a horrible person. "Go ahead go, but if you do don't come back." She pulled away and curled into a ball tears were coming down her face. "Making a connection grow weaker hurts, the worse part that neither of these two will tell you is there's a chance that connection will not grow back and I'm going to be selfish for once. I can't risk losing you."

Nick was stuck. He didn't want everything to go to hell all because he lost control once. He didn't want a war to start because of the elders being in control of the two of them and then the rest of the vampires would fallow. But he also didn't want to loose Ruby. And if he left, and went with Will--- he would. He'd loose her, and their contention. And according to her a connection that might never grow back. Even given time. He knew that the connection would hurt as it grew weaker. He still remembered how much it had hurt the few times she had tried to break it. And the one time that she had and he had sealed it back in place. He couldn't imagine how much it would hurt given days--- weeks. That would be hell at the abouslote worst. Finally letting out a sigh. And facing the three of them. "I need time, I need time to think about it. "

Ruby shook her head she let her heart break. It caused her so much pain, but at least she would die. She wouldn't have to face life anymore. "Go let me die. If you love someone let them go." Tears ran down her face. Nick could heal her heart and take all the pain away. "I can't lose you please make me feel better. I'm sorry I don't want to die. I just don't want to lose. I just can't take much more Nick."

Nick felt lost- broken. He wanted two very different things. And one of those things was Ruby. His mate. But at the same time he didn't want war. And he didn't want her to die either. Turning back to her. Starting to build back up her heart and heal it. Turning to Raven and Will for a moment. "Can we have a moment? Please?"

Will nodded and left the room with Raven.


Ruby looked up at him helpless. "I love you Nick please don't leave. I can't lose." That's all she could say. Tears kept coming. "I know I haven't been me lately. I'm tired really tired of everything Nick I want it to come to and end. The only way for that to happen is if you let go and we can train you and fight the elders destory them."

Raven walked outside with Will. Looking around and then rubbing the back of her neck. Due from stress. The stress from not knowing what Nick would say, in the end. And stress caused from worry about her relationship with Derek. Looking at Will finally. "Can I ask you something?"



Nick shook his head. "I love you so, so, so much. But even if I did let go, and the elders did gain control over us, how would we fight them? Destroy them even? I would love to destroy them., kill all of them. After everything they'd put us through. But to risk starting a war?-- I don't know if I can do that."

"What?" Will asked looking up at her. He was confused on what she wanted to know. They had nothing going on between them, strictly business.

Ruby sat up slowly and looked up at him. "You would rather not have a war, but risk love?" She asked him. "Fine do what you want I'm tired of arguing with you. I'm tired of trying to reason with the fact if you just let me train you then we will be able to stop the Elders. I'm tired of waiting for you to propose to me. I'm tired of not being able to have alone time for kissing,sex, dates, romantic things. I'm tired of not being able to plan our future. You been on edge for five years waiting for the Elders everything has been rotating around them for five years, Nick. I want the Nick who would take risks and believe that we can do anything" Ruby said softly

Raven thought on her words carefully. Then spoke them even more carefully then she had thought of them. "If you know you were meant to be with someone, but you thought they started to distrust you even though you had done nothing wrong.... and they left for hours on end. Where do you think they'd go?"



"What part of training me would help this right now? I wouldn't be able to loos control for you to train me how to still stay in control. Because then it would already be too late. I was planning a date night, for after Avery's birthday party. I was going to take you out to dinner at some fancy restaurant and do it there... have Will or Raven take Avery for the night. I do too, but we did sign up for it as soon as we knew we were having Avery. At what point, in the past few years have we not been able to plan our future? Our future is raising Avery, and building a family, a life together. Can you even blame me for being on edge? Everything they'd put us through when we got together, and after that--- EVERY THING. They almost dictated our lives for two years. And you want to know why I've been on edge for so long? I kept expecting them to pop back up at some point, like a mean jack-in the- box that refuse's to stay down even when you want it to. And take you, or Avery.. to take something. And I'd have no control over it. Now it's actually happening." He told her, then realized how all of that sounded. It sounded horrible. It sounded like excuses. Excuses that she wouldn't believe. Running his hands through his hair and then walking over to the window in defeat.

Ruby felt her heart drop as she watched him walk to the window. "No please don't leave." She begged him looking up at him. Her heart was rushing she started to panic. This is how her last relationship ended with Damon walking away and he faked his own death to get away from her. She knew what she did when she signed on being parent, but you still got to do things alone and she tried so hard to plan things with him. Her mind racing back to the Nick walking to the window. Did she push away? Was it her fault? Was she not good enough? Realizing that she held onto him so much was because she was afraid of losing him and it really was happening. "We always get through it. Why are you giving up this time. We always find another way?" She stuttered. "You're doing tje exact same thing that Damon did to me? Is my life that horrible that my relationships end in the guy walking away?"

Nick let his head fall so that he was looking at his feet as he ran his hands through his hair causing it to stick up even more than it already was. Before sliding his hands down his face in a rough 'what in the world do I do' type of way. He knew how things had ended with Damon. Mostly because he had stepped in, but still the guy had earned what he'd gotten in the end. It wasn't that she wasn't good enough. Hell, at times he considered her to be too good for him. But then remembered that they were somehow meant for each other. And it wasn't the fact that she didn't put forth the effort to try and plan things alone with him, it was just that something else always came up and they ended up having to push it back to another time. Letting out another frustrated breath. Knowing that she was right. Somehow, through everything that they'd gone through they always made it through it-- together. Because they always found another way. And now she was throwing it in his face that he was doing the same thing Damon did to her. He was pulling away, and he wasn't seeing another way. So she thought he was giving up. Turning back around to face her again. "Because, this time I don't see another way. I don't see how we can get through this. We're pinned on all sides, I loose control and the whole thing goes up in smoke. Even if it's just for a tiny second. Even if I do it so that you can train me how to stay in control even when I'm not--- it's over. Just like that. I've already lost control once tonight, and it was a set up to get me to do so. So that they could set the whole thing into action. We don't just have us to think about anymore, like we did all those years ago when we were first starting out. We have ourselves to think about but we also have to think of what's best for Avery. So that she doesn't loose her parents. Do I want to walk away from you, and chance our connection breaking only to later find out that we can never get it back? No. But I also don't want to be the cause for a war starting either. Did I ever think we'd be put in this position of having to make this kind of choose? No, not in a million years." He told her more calmly walking over and kneeling on the floor next to her feet. "What I'm saying, is I don't want to walk away from you. But I also don't know what to do..... I just don't know what to do."

Ruby looked at him sadly and moved away. "No matter what you try telling me to make me feel better about this isn't going to work." Tears rolled down my face even more. "I don't know how you thought you could walk away me from me and expect me to be okay with it. Damon hurt me on so many levels and you are doing the exact same thing that he did." Ruby fell to her knees crying. "I thought you were different than this. I thought you would believe in another way. I was wrong about you. You have two choices me or no war and you are choosing no war," her voice stammered. "Don't you think I know what's best for Avery? She should have both of her parents together, but obviously, that's not going to happen. If you leave don't come back. I don't need another relationship like Damon. My daughter doesn't need to learn about men like this not now not ever." Ruby snapped leaning against the bed. She buried her face in her knees. This couldn't be happening. Nick wasn't about to leave her wasn't about to risk everything. Why didn't he believe in another way? There was always another way. All she wanted was a night alone with him, but that never was going to happen again unless if he changed his mind. Nick was everything she ever wanted and now he's leaving. "I promised myself that I would never love again after Damon, but you made believe in love again," Ruby whispered her body trembling.

Nick hadn't moved, when she had gotten off the bed and sat in the floor against the bed a little ways from him. Instead he had buried his face in his hands that rested on the bed as he had listened to her. Listened to all the things she was blaming him for. Pushing back a growing lump in his throat as the list seemed to get longer and longer. How could he have both? It was impossible. And for once he didn't know what to do, didn't even know what to say to make any of this better. So--- he prayed. Prayed for an answer, for all of this to go away, for a way that Ruby might somehow find a way to forgive him after so many past mistakes.... For- For another way. For everything to work out in the end. For Ruby and him to somehow find a way to be happy together. Feeling slinent tears sliding down his face.

Ruby heard his tears. She frowned and crawled over to him and brought him in a hugged. "I love you Nick, but I can't lose you like this. I can't take the chance of losing." She whispered against his hair. "I believe we can find another way" Ruby sat down and put his head in her lap. She rubbed his hair. "I can't lose you Nick, please please don't leave."

Nick hadn't thought she'd be able to hear his tears. He had been so quiet while he had been crying. The only thing that had to give him away was the tears themselves hitting the sheets on the bed and his shirt. Seeing as other than that he had been perfectly quiet. Letting her lead him over to her, and then rest his head in her lap. Letting his head roll so that his face faced her belly. And the last couple of tears hit her shirt. Letting the rythem of the rubbing in his hair sooth his roughed nerves. Finally getting himself under control. Clearing his throat before he spoke. "Then what do we do?"

Nick let his head roll so that he was looking at the ceiling. "Okay- I'll try to." Then remembered Will and Raven. "Do you think we should tell them our decision? That way they can get home to there mates. That I'm staying, but we'll have to work towards me not losing control, while you also somehow train me."

Ruby down at him and smiled softly. She kissed him softly. "Please Nick, never ever scare me like that. I was so afraid that I was going to lose you forever. Forever is a very long time and without you my life would be empty." She said across his lips.

Ruby giggled some as he planted kisses on her. She kissed him back softly. "I hope you will do this more often." He took his scent in and smiled softly. "I love you." Her voice was quiet and soft and her arms wrapped around his back.

Raven frowned smelling all the lovey dovey stuff in the air. Then saying "I think they made up their minds... and the answer is they're staying together."

Ruby nuzzled her head on his shoulder exposing her neck to him. "Nick let's have a wonderful romantic night." She whispered softly to him. "Nick you can do anything you want to me tonight." This was her way of teaching him and to have a night together with him.

"Okay, well I should get back to Grace." He mumbled walking away.

"Okay, see ya later.." Raven said starting to head back to her own place to hopefully find Derek there. And if not- then she'd be going out and looking for him at the bars.



Nick rested his chin on top of her head as she nuzzled into his shoulder. "That sounds wonderful, and well deserved." He said holding her closer still kissing the tip of her ear.

Avery was awake crying her head off. "Mommy daddy. Me want" she said.

Ruby smiled and shivered against the kiss. "Very wonderful" she purred. "Remember how when I was human we got into a situation where all I wanted was blood and I went looking for some. We came in contact with the police and Will said I was running away from you because I was naughty and didn't want to get caught. I may have been human, but I still felt that you wanted to try something like that" Ruby was rambling nervously and blushed. "Sorry I'm terrible at trying to hint at the thing two people to do together."

Raven walked in, and heard the crying right away. Going in and picking Avery up. "You can see mommy and daddy tomorrow.... okay?"


Nick felt her shiver. And then smiled at her nervous rambling. She did that a lot when she was nervous or worried about something and it always ended up being something random. "Yes, I remember that very well..... I also remember the looks on there faces." He told her thinking she might not remember the looks on the two police officers faces seeing as she had been so pissed at him at the time.

"No now now now now" Avery screamed crying. "Daddy turn to tuck me in. Mommy turn for bath time. Story time together. I want them and Ellie" Avery wasn't spoiled or anything she just didn't like being away from her parents.

"Nick, can we have sex tonight?" Ruby blurted out looking at him. "I was trying to hint at it because I feel weird asking or even talking about it, but I just keep rambling on. I was mad at you furious at you. I wanted blood." Ruby looked down embarrassed. "I don't really know the procedure we only had it twice and the second time we got pregnant."

Will walked in to the house upset that Nick didn't come with him.
