Brooke (brookeluvsbooks) Hi I have returned some books using the audible website but the books are still showing up on my android app is there a way to fix this?

message 203: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3943 comments I set my app listings to hide finished books, as I rarely reread and the list would be YUGE otherwise, So, I flag those books as "read" if they're still there. The only other thing I can think of is to go to Manage My Content at Amazon, change the default setting from ebooks to audiobooks, and if the returned book is still there, delete it manually.

Hi Brooke,

Signing in and out will help refresh your library. If this doesn't help, please send us an email to social-support@audible.com with the title that are still showing on your end so we can try manually removing them on our end.

Thanks!

Julie | 103 comments I have not read the posts in this thread to know if I am repeating a previous topic. With that caveat, I would like to ask for an app feature.

Could we add a sort by narrator, please?
We already have sorts by Recent, Title, Author, and Length.

I would really love to be able to sort by Narrator.

Make it happen, Audible. <3

Hi Julie,

We've passed along your request to our team. Thank you for your suggestion!

Have a great weekend!

Rayne (raynebair) | 15 comments For a while now, whenever I relaunch the app it always opens to Cloud, which shows my entire library.

I usually only have 3 or 4 books downloaded at a time, so to have to switch constantly to Device is annoying. Why won't the app remember this setting? I've deleted the app and re-installed it on my phone thinking that would fix it, but nope.

I'm on an iPhone 6 with the latest version of the app.

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 495 comments Yes Brooklyn, this is bugging me also.
I'm on latest audible app with iPhone SE.

message 211: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3943 comments I wish there were a way to mark them "finished" in our master library once and for all, with that carrying over to devices. It's incredibly frustrating to have to periodically re-tag the books on my phone!

I hide "finished" ones so I can see what to choose from next.

Hi John,

This is definitely a big request for us! We hope to be able to start saving those finished tags to the cloud so they are synced across all devices and saved when a re-installation of the app is necessary for troubleshooting.

We will be sure to update this thread if and when this becomes available.

Hi Brooklyn,

We're sorry that this is causing an inconvenience for you. In the past, we had received many contacts about confusion as to where customers' books were when the app did not automatically open to the Cloud section.

We have submitted a request on your behalf to possibly create a setting in the app where it is possible to select which section users would like as their default.

We appreciate your feedback!

Rayne (raynebair) | 15 comments Just out of curiosity, I never tried it, but is it possible to play audiobooks that are not from audible on the audible app? Like if I transfer them from my computer?

message 217: by Mara (new)

Mara Pemberton (marapem) | 233 comments You can down HOOPLA, ONECLICK DIGITAL, OVERDRIVE, & 3M Digital Apps from Apple App Store. These apps are connected to Libraries who choose to offer them. Some libraries have all the digital download apps and some only have Overdrive, and one other. It depends on the library,

I've done this, with audiobooks from cd made into an audiobook on my laptop. Works well.

message 219: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Brooklyn, on iOS, yes. The app will detect any audio files marked as type "Audiobook", downloaded via iTunes. An "iTunes" tab will appear in the app.

On Android, I have not been able to get the app to open audio files on local storage. I can only play audible files downloaded by the app from audible.

message 220: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 1 comments For the last few months, the Audible app on my iPhone has not been correctly keeping track of which books I've finished, which means I cannot sort by finished or unfinished status. I have over 50 books in my library (in the cloud; I only keep one book on the phone at a time), a majority of which I've read, so I'm finding this issue very frustrating. Restarting the app doesn't help, nor does restarting or shutting down the phone. How can I fix this problem? Thanks!

message 221: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3943 comments Consistently doesn't recognize finished books at all, or is it that you'll go through and tag them finished and then every so often they'll all show up and you'll have to redo it again from scratch?

message 222: by Mara (new)

Mara Pemberton (marapem) | 233 comments I don't an issue per se, but it would be nice when another Goodreads update is done in app. I would Ike to see that character names from our favorite series or book be accepted and not always underlined.

message 223: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 495 comments A wish (so it is a bit of an issue for me): will the Audible app be able to function with siri in iOS 10?

message 224: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Audible, if you're listening, I have a feature request for iOS.

It would be nice if downloading audio from within an ebook in the Kindle app downloaded the audible audio into the audible app, using the same audio quality as configured in that app.

This is how it works on Android, and it would be nice if iOS did it the same way.

The reason is that I like to read along with the audio when I can, and if I download the audio from within the Kindle app, the Kindle app turns the pages automatically as the audio progresses. It's kinda neat.

The problem with this is that the audio is always downloaded at the poorer audio quality, unlike the audible app, which gives you the option of a bigger file at higher audio quality. Also downloading from within the kindle app does not download the audio into the audible app; they are separate. So I have to download the audio twice if I just want to listen using the audible app.

It would be nice if the Kindle app used the audible app as its audio player, as it does on Android.

message 227: by Icywolf (new)

Icywolf | 12 comments I recently noticed that a book that I just completed reading on my iPhone (5SE, if that matters) immediately disappears from my device. I do usually delete books from the device when I finish them, but this is happening without my intervention/choice. Is it a new "feature" or "learned behavior"? (I swear I am NOT imagining it! It has happened with the last 3 books I read, but I don't recall it happening before that.)

message 228: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 495 comments Mm, I'm happy to say I don't have this "feature" on my SE. Though I'm mostly on Audible UK, maybe this is happening only to .com users?
O, and I'm still on iOS 9 - if that has anything to do with it. I do use the latest Audible app as far as I know.

Not so silly! I must have hit that setting without noticing! Never even thought to check that...

Dee (austhokie) | 1959 comments here's a problem i'm having...

last night I bought The Great St Mary's Day Out from audible - it is showing in my library if I access the website - but I can't get the library on my app (itouch) to refresh and show it - I've hit the refresh option and the circle spins around; I've tried shutting off and on and nada...

thoughts?

I don't know what the Audible App looks like on your Ipod (depends on the generation?) so this might not apply but here's what fixes the problem on my iPhone 6 (David S. suggested this several months ago): hit the More button at the bottom, then Settings, then Refresh Library. Mine spins for a minute, then stops and stays on that screen; I go back to the My Library page and the new book appears at the top. The Refresh button on the upper right of the My Library page frequently doesn't work for me.

message 233: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 1959 comments yeah - I finally got that to work after doing another reset....on my old ipod, I could just do the refresh and it was automatic :(

message 234: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I have just recently upgraded to an iPhone 7+ and I have a question about the Audible app. I have a couple of books on it in the audible app and I can't figure out how to delete them from my device. I want to see them in my library showing them as finished, but I want to remove the book files from my phone so I don't fill up the memory with audiobooks I am not listening to. I tried long pressing the book like I do on my android tablet, but there is no option to remove the book from my device. Whaat do I do?

message 235: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 136 comments In the app, you can view what's in the Cloud and what's on the Device. Go to the Device view. On the far right, there are 3 dots. Put your finger on the three dots and swipe to the left. A red box that says "delete from Device" or something very close to that will appear. Tap the red box. Voila!

message 236: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments Thank you so much Kimberly! That worked perfectly! I knew there had to be a way to do it. I just couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

message 237: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 495 comments Has this something to do with the app update I just downloaded?
Have to install it on my iPhone though, that's still running the older app.

message 238: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 495 comments Luckily I've already downloaded all the to reads to my device. Good luck, Manda...

message 239: by Andy (new)

Andy | 17 comments I'm not sure if this suggestion has been made before, but it would be great if you are playing a book at 2x speed, if the times displayed would adjust accordingly. For instance, if on regular speed, my book has 2 hours left, Audible would show only 1 hour remaining if played at 2x speed.

Some other Android audiobook apps work this way (Listen, Smart Audiobook app, etc), and it's really useful to not have to do the math in my head every time I look to see how much I've got left of a book.

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition I have a hard time scrolling forward and backwards while listening on the Audible app on my android phone.
I can't seem to do it precisely, either it goes too far forward, or backwards.Sometimes I just want to skim forward or review what I just heard.

message 241: by Tobias (new)

Tobias Langhoff (tobiasvl) | 6 comments Yeah, scrolling isn't very precise. I always skip backwards 30 seconds with the dedicated button if I want to re-hear something.

message 242: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 1190 comments I've noticed that the app isn't displaying the correct time remaining. I'm currently listening to The Girl Who Drank the Moon. The player shows I have 3 hour, 39 minutes remaining. But when I pull up my library on the app, it says I have 5 hrs, 29 minutes left. I've noticed this discrepancy for the last few books I've read. I wondered if perhaps something changed with the last update to the app.

I have the app on my iPad and iPhone and both apps show the same behaviour. The example above is from my iPad, but on my iPhone it shows as 4 hours, 23 minutes left on the player and 5 hours, 29 minutes from the library.

Is anyone else having this issue?

message 243: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I also use the app on my iPhone and iPad. So far the time has been very accurate on both. Have you tried removing the app and reinstalling it? Maybe just signing out and back in would help. That was a strategy suggested to me by Audible for another issue I was having and it has worked a couple of other times as well.

message 244: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelnyg) | 15 comments Do you listen at a different speed? (Something other than X1) I've noticed the library says what time is left is the official time but when I open the audio it shows the time remaining depending on the speed I listen.

message 245: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 1190 comments Thanks for your comments. .

Barron, I turned off the apps and powered down both my devices. There was no change when I powered back up. I'm reluctant to delete the app and reinstall unless it becomes absolutely necessary.

Kelly, I do listen at different speeds. I have my iPad at 1.5x and iPhone at 1.25x. Your comments do seem to explain why the iPad would show 3 hours, 39 minutes at 1.5x, and my iPhone with 4 hours, 23 minutes at 1.25x. I've never noticed this behaviour before. I'll time it tonight and see if I do finish in 3-1/2 hours.

message 246: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelnyg) | 15 comments Janice I've only recently noticed it myself and figured that was the reason. Let me know how you get on.

message 247: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 1190 comments Maybe this was an update to the behaviour of the app, because I could swear it's not been like that up until recently. I will time the book and let you know if it agrees with the app.

message 248: by Audible Support (new)

Audible Support (audible_com) | 260 comments Hi Janice. If you are listening to a speed above 1X, the time is reflecting how long it will take you to finish the book when listening at the higher speed. This was a new change added to the app. Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to us with any questions.

Thanks for clarifying that. We had pretty much figured it out. It was a bit unnerving at first but I think I'll get used to it quickly.

message 250: by Ann (new)

Ann (annrumsey) | 163 comments Kelly and Janice: I recently noticed this too. I often listen at 1.25 speed and while listening I see the remaining time matching that pace; or from the library the remaining time at normal speed.
