John | 3943 comments I don't seem to have a slider option at all.

Michael (mobe1969) | 463 comments Maybe you need to go to the play store and force the app update.

message 53: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3943 comments BINGO -- that was the problem!

message 54: by Michael (new)

Michael (mobe1969) | 463 comments Nice!

One minor problem with it is it applies to both the cloud and device list. So when you finish a book, it disappears off the device list. However, it is still left sitting in your phone's memory, so you have to change the filter, and then delete it, and then put the filter back on.

message 55: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3943 comments Oddly enough, I'm re-listening-to a book now that I had marked READ so I can access it, though it isn't on the actual list.

message 56: by Michael (new)

Michael (mobe1969) | 463 comments Hah odd! I think they should restrict the option to the cloud list. Or at least have separate saved state for the cloud and device titles.

message 57: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Michael, the filter on the ios audible app is the same - it applies across all cloud, device and iTunes screens.

However, a just-finished book still appears even if the unfinished filter is on; it disappears on a refresh. So you get a chance to remove it without changing the filter.

Hmm, on android once you finish a book and click to go back to library it refreshes and it goes automatically

message 59: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Michael,

hmm. The latest update of the audible app states they've added "autorefresh", so I may now have the same problem as you. I haven't finished a book since the update though.

Kimberly (poweki) | 136 comments Hey - did anyone notice the new "deliver to" dropdown box in Audible's website library? It's under the regular "download" button. I'm trying it out now - I selected a book to be delivered directly to my phone.

message 61: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Yes I noticed it, but haven't tried it.

I guess that's a side effect of the "autorefresh" feature they've added to the phone apps? They can now push updates instead of wait for us to pull them.

John | 3943 comments I have had it happen, but it seems to be more of a random thing. When looking at my overall library, it's frustrating to wonder "What's that gray one?"

I really wish we could have a way of deleting finished books forever that we don't plan on ever re-reading, as we can do with Kindle print titles, or at least mark the books finished to hide them. I went through my library on my phone and there were VERY few I might even consider re-reading.

When I start reading a book, I download it on both my iPhone and iPad. One of my books had the cover art on the iPhone but not on the iPad.

Hey Ammon,

We'd like to look into this issue for you. Please email us with the titles in question when you have a chance to "social-support@audible.com".

Thank you.

If you're using the Android app, you can press on the cover of the book and a menu will pop up that includes "tag as finished" and "remove from device." I love that I have the option to not see finished books in my library now. However, I do have to remember to remove them before they get tagged as finished.

I really love that I can have the book delivered to my phone from the website now without having to go through the whole rigamarole of opening the app, going to the cloud tab, refreshing and downloading. Audible just made things just as easy as Kindle.

message 66: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3943 comments Unfortunately, there's no Finished tagging for Kindle Fires.

I get that with miscellaneous books - in fact, my most recent purchase (Thérèse Raquin narrated by Kate Winslet) was one which downloaded to my Kindle Fire without any cover art.

Joel (joelevard) hello audible,

i wanted to put in a vote for fixing the speed control issue on the ios app so it can actually do speeds faster than 2x. i have a third party app called swift that goes up to 3x with no clipping. i would love the option in the audible app so i don't have to mess with downloading and synching (and i can keep working on my badges!).

message 70: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) | 136 comments My audible app keeps signing me out. Is this happening to anyone else? It's particularly frustrating because I listen while I'm driving and cannot log back in until I stop.

I only started having this issue within the last couple of weeks.

Oh thank god not just me. I've been having this for months. And worse still I can't even pause until I pull over, get a connection, and sign in again. Driving me crazy. I've contacted them so many times. No help. Their suggestion was uninstalling and deleting everything. So lost all stats, and which books in my library were read. So much work to manually flag everything

message 72: by Sandi (new)

Sandi (sandikal) | 420 comments I discovered that you can just ignore that sign in thing. Just hit the back button on your phone and you're back to normal. I'm also a big fan of using the Audible widget on my home screen. That sign in thing never happens if you don't actually have the app open.

message 74: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Holbrook (holby2) | 1 comments I have had the Audible.com app since it came out. On my current iPhone, I have accumulated 2 months, 15 days of listening time, so I definitely USE it. For the past two weeks, the app keeps crashing. If my phone rings, I get a text or email, it seems to interrupt the playback, freeze the screen (VERY frustrating) then restart the app. It has become MADDENING!!!! I have tried shutting phone off and back on. I have not deleted and reloaded because that is my last resort because I am afraid it will not mark my current locations and I'll have to reload my "go-to" books that I keep perpetually loaded. Please tell me there is a solution that is easier.

When you are in your library in the app, you can tap and hold on the book. The option to 'tag as finished' will then come up to choose. Hope this helps!

message 77: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (magickrhythm) To Audible.com: How can I get my FREE audiobooks to filter with my PAID audiobooks? I can filter for FREE and I can filter for AUDIOBOOKS

For example: I received The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo as a promotion for signing up with Audible. I received the entire book free. But when I filter for Audiobooks in the Android app, I DO NOT see the book. I only see it when I have the library unfiltered or I have it filtered for Free.

When I do that the book will still be in my library but I just won't see it? If so, how do I bring up the books I've tagged as "Finished" so if I want to listen to them again later on (such as before I listen to a sequel that has just come out)?

message 79: by John, Moderator (new)

John | 3943 comments You need to change the "hide finished books" toggle, and you'll see all of your books again.

message 80: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 17 comments I've tried the audio version in Kindle - the little "headphones" icon - however it never works. So, I've resorted to listening to the audio version in the Audible app. But then I have to manually find my place in Kindle which takes time and isn't always easy like it's supposed to be with the feature included in the Kindle app. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

message 81: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments The Audible app on my android syncs with the Kindle app on my android AND with my stand alone Kindle. When I listen to something on my android and then switch to my Kindle or Kindle app I will get a message saying that I am currently at location xxxx and the Audible book is at location yyyy and it asks me if I want to sync to that location. All I have to do is click Okay and the book automatically goes to that location. The reverse is also true when I have been reading a book on my Kindle or Kindle app and go to listen to the book on my Audible app.

message 82: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 17 comments That's great to know Jeffrey. I have an IPhone/iPad. Do you know if it will do the same - maybe I'm missing a setting in the app itself. I'll take a look today. Thanks for the information.

We are sorry. At this time free books will only be shown in the filters for "Free" and "All Titles" within our app. If you search by tapping on the magnifying glass towards the top of the app, the book should also come up. We will be sure to forward this feedback for consideration.

Jan | 534 comments I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this. But I'm considering getting a Chromebook and was wondering if there is an audible app that functions on a Chrome Operating System. Thanks!

message 86: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I don't know if there is an app specifically designed for Chrome, but I have been known to stream my books on Audible.com using Chrome. It works fine. I use Chrome exclusively on my Asus all-in-one PC and on my tablet foor surfing the web. I use the Audible app on my tablet to listen to my books.

message 87: by Jan (new)

Jan | 534 comments Thanks Jeffrey - that certainly would be an option for me.

message 88: by Michael (new)

Michael (mobe1969) | 463 comments You can actually install android apps on chrome, but it is a bit of a technical process.
Eg
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/goo...

They specifically mention the audible app there.

message 89: by Jan (new)

Jan | 534 comments Thanks for the information Michael - I'm not very technical but maybe I can get someone to help. I'm saving the page fo future reference.

Hi Jan. At this time, we currently do not have an app for the Chromebook. We apologize for this. You can stream your books from your library on our site by clicking on the "Play Now" button. We will be sure to forward this feedback to our team.

Audiothing My IPad app and Android operate in exactly the same way, when I delete, it is not visible when the app is on "device" but I see it greyed out when on "cloud", it's there ready to be downloaded again should I need it. Pretty good I reckon

Mara Pemberton (marapem) | 233 comments Does anyone know how to delete books in the WISH LIST page when you are shopping for or checking out what's new books on screen app on your iPhone/iPod I have tried several times and nothing I do works.

Either I download the full page on iPod or I delete through my computer. Any other suggestions?

message 94: by Drew (new)

Drew | 45 comments Anyone else update to the new iOS app only to have all their books delete? Also everytime I go back in it shows be all my books rather than how I had it filtered before so I need to re-filter every time. Such a disapointment

message 95: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments First, a note of thanks.

The iOS Audible app used to treat an m4b loaded via iTunes as a single track. A recent update added support for recognizing chapters in m4b files. This is a HUGE win for me. I love the app, and while I get most of my audio from audible, being able to use it for books from other sources is fantastic. Now it's also much more manageable.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have one minor enhancement request. Though the 30sec and chapter controls in the app work for iTunes m4bs, using a headset switch does not. Double- or triple-clicking the headset switch moves the audio to the start or end of the whole m4b.

Is there any way you could support the same behaviour as when playing audible files? I sometimes forget I'm listening to an iTunes track, and end up losing my place in a 20 hour audiobook, with little idea of where I was.

Thanks in advance,
HBJ

message 96: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 495 comments Really? My iTunes bought audiobooks are showing chapters in the audible app? This would really make my day... Thanks for sharing this info.

message 97: by Hunchback Jack (new)

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Specs, you're welcome.

This is particularly useful because there are tools that will create a single chapterized m4b file from multiple single-chapter mp3s. So you can convert audiobooks ripped from CDs or MP3 CDs to m4b, and play them in the audible app without dealing with multiple files for the same book (which the app doesn't seem to handle as well), but still get chapter support.

M4b has now become my preferred format for (non-audible) audiobooks.

HBJ

message 98: by Specs (new)

Specs Bunny (specsbunny) | 495 comments Thank you Hunchback. Yes, I already rip my cd's to m4b en play them using the nice bookmobile app.

Unfortenately, I tested with a bought iTunes book but the audible app still does not see the chapters. Probably only m4b without drm. The frustrating thing is that the iTunes books are actually audible...

I will have to wait for the apple fix in iOS 8.4 for this, bringing back chapters in audiobooks in the ibooks app.
