Grumpus | 473 comments Did anyone else notice that the app allows for listening speeds of 2x, 2.5x, and 3x but if you time it, the fastest speed is only 2x no matter if 2.5 or 3x is selected? I've used my watch to time 1 minute noting my place in the book by the time on the app. After 1 minute (real time) you would expect that 3 minutes should elapse on the book if 3x is selected. Whether 2.5x or 3x is selected only 2 minutes of the book passes.

Audible, can you explain? Or is it just me?

message 2: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 2212 comments I have noticed the same thing, though my Android version doesn't have a 2.5x speed option.

Hey Grumpus,

We are aware that the 2.5x and 3x speeds are functioning at the same speed as 2x on iOS devices. We have found that the built-in functionality of an iOS device doesn't support any speeds higher than 2x. We are exploring other options to improve the narrator speed functionality, but there is no ETA at this time.

If you would like to be notified when this is resolved, please email "social-support@audible.com" and we will add you to the notification list.

We're sorry for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Hey Chrissie,

Great question! Yes, Voice Over works pretty well with the Audible app.

I take it this is also an issue with Android? My Audible app on my Android phone does the same thing.

Jan | 534 comments Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. But here goes...

On the Audible App I have on my tablet and phone I can adjust the playback speed - which I love! But on my computer - which is where I do most of my listening - I can't find that option in the AudibleManager. Am I missing something or is it just not available?

Hey Jan,

Audible Manager does not have playback speed features. This option is only available on our mobile apps. Sorry if this is an inconvenience. You can always email us at social-support@audible.com if you have any other questions.

Jan | 534 comments Thank you for answering my question - though I'm disappointed. It might be something you should consider adding.

message 14: by Michael (new)

Michael (mobe1969) | 463 comments Heh heh yeah.

In answer to your question though, you can add the audible audiobooks to itunes on your computer, and that allows you to increase playback speed on your PC. There are pages I think on the audible site how to do it. The audible download manager itself will add to itunes automatically if you have it set.

E (twenty8twelve) | 32 comments I'll ask in here in case Audible have their listening ears on... (anyone else feel free to chime in, I really would like an easy solution to my problem).

I have the audible app on my iphone and ipad. I also have a shiny Sonos system (and a sonos app on my ios devices). Is there anyway to get my audiobooks that have been downloaded to my ios devices to play through my Sonos system?

I do not want to have to download the contents to a laptop/pc, or have to convert them and put them on the devices via itunes. Mainly because this takes up double the space, not to mention you can't sync between audible on pc + audible ios app.

If you can do it, please tell me how... but if not can you please get in touch with Sonos and sort something out (if spotify, tunein, etc can do it why not amazon/audible?).

Thanks for listening. :D

Hey Emma,

At this time, Sonos is compatible with Audible via a PC or Mac and not mobile devices.

We understand this is not what you would like to do, so we will forward your feedback on to the appropriate team.

If you would like to review the steps to set Sonos up with your PC or Mac, please go here: sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail...

Hunchback Jack | 545 comments Dear audible, :)
I've noticed a couple if problems with the latest version of the ios app. Both happened at the same time.

1) a bunch of books got reordered both in the "recent" library list and in the purchases list under "me".

2) in the library list, some entries have their authors names missing. It appears to be authors with more than two words in their names - or more than one author.

Hey HBJ,

Thanks for pointing this out to us. We will forward your findings to our mobile team to check it out.

In the meantime, please submit a bug report via Settings that will go directly to our developers.

Amanda (magickrhythm) Hi!

I have a couple of books that I got during a free promotion, when I filter for Audiobooks in the Android App, those free audiobooks disappear.

How can this be fixed so that I see all my audiobooks (bought and free) when filtered?

Thanks.

Hey Amanda,

When you choose from the filters list, please choose All Titles to ensure you're viewing all your audiobooks plus any free samples.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi!

That is what I am trying to avoid. I only want to see audiobooks, not samples and not newspapers.

For example, several years ago, when I joined Audible, I was given a free book (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) for joining. This is the full, complete audiobook (not a sample). When I filter for Audiobooks, I do not see this title in my list.

I don't want to see the samples that were automatically installed when I installed the app, and I don't care to see the newspaper subscription I have.

Please help!

Amanda.

Kimberly (poweki) | 136 comments I have a question about an Audible App Badge.

I feel a little silly asking as I probably shouldn't care about the badges at all.

Alas, I cannot seem to earn anything past the first level of the Audible Obsessed badge (for listening 7 days in a row), despite my having listened for hundreds of days in a row. I've achieved all listening levels - but that bludging badge won't budge.

Any ideas?

I guess I've never paid much attention to the badges. I got a new phone about a week ago, so all my stats started over from my old phone. I seem to have 3 badges: one for having over 200 books in my library, one for listening for over 4 hours over lunch, and one for listening for at least 5 hours on the weekend.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Kimberly, I'm in the same boat. I dislike the badges because they never seem to be awarded with any degree of accuracy - and I too have had to start over every time I acquire a shiny new device.

Hah yes so true, they are inaccurate and pointless like ALL of the stats they collect. I mean I've been listening to a book for a few hours and I look at the time and it shows I've been listening for 14 hours or stuff like that. And the badges. The fact that NONE of the information persists over a reinstall or new device makes it utterly useless.

It is great that they spend money and effort adding pointless, inaccurate, and transcient features like this when something simple like "which books in my library have I read" doesn't manage to save online, and you can't even filter out read books from your library list. But hey, at least they are trying... It is like the corporate policy there. They must brainstorm for stuff that no customer wants. Or maybe they have all these hundreds of ideas, and they start at the bottom of the list with the most useless ideas possible, and eventually work their way up...

You have just identified the modus operandi of Goodreads. Never fix bugs, even after repeatedly begged to do so, but keep introducing new features that no one requested and which routinely malfunction at launch.

Hee hee! I didn't realize GR themselves did that too. I haven't been about that long. It is most definitely the audible MO though! Agile software development frowns upon design, detailed planning, and looking back (eg fixing bugs)...

KatieMc (katiemcsantamonica) | 10 comments Hi. I am having trouble with whyspersync. If I read on my kindle and resume the audiobook using the iOS audible app, it syncs up nicely. However, when I listen and then go back to my kindle (or cloud reader) it doesn't seem to update to the new location. Is there something I need to do on the audible app to "update" my location?

Hey Katie,

It depends on your Kindle model. On the Kindle Fire, drag the menu bar from the top down and go into Settings. Then, please select Sync All Content. On the iOS, you can also manually sync by going to Settings in the Audible App.

You can also go to www.amazon.com, hover over "Hi [Name], Your Account" and select "Manage Your Kindle"/"Manage Your Content & Devices". In the Settings section, you will be able to turn OFF, then On your Device Synchronization (Whispersync Settings) to re-sync.

If you are still experiencing issues, please email us at "social-support@audible.com".

Tjo | 56 comments When I play a title from my iTunes library on my iOS Audible app, the speed adjustment (1.5x, 2x, etc.) functions are completely inoperable. Since I usually listen at 2x, this is quite annoying.

Is there a fix for this or do I need to find another player app for my iTunes titles?

Hey Tjo,

The app's features like narration speed, sleep timer or badges do not function well with transferred titles from iTunes or iTunes purchases. We recommend downloading your Audible audiobook within the app to utilize those features.

Hope this helps!

message 34: by Michael (new)

Michael (mobe1969) | 463 comments You can also just play the titles from the iOS music player, and speed up playback there. It will only allow 1.5x I believe though.

message 35: by Tjo (new)

Tjo | 56 comments Thanks, Michael. I didn't realize that.

Audible, I love the app for my Audible purchases, but Audible is not my only source of audiobooks. I just wish I could use the otherwise awesome Audible app for all of them.

Tonight was the first time I've noticed authors names missing from the app. They weren't missing a few days ago because I always sort my library by author, but now there are a bunch by random authors at the top of the list with only narrator names listed. Hey John,

Unfortunately, your gut instinct was right. We don't have a feature like this right now for Android devices. However, we do have the feature that allows you to sort by Unfinished available for iOS so you can view only unfinished titles.

We will forward your idea along to our Mobile team for consideration.

I cannot sort by progress on iOS. Recent, Title, Author, Length. Not Finished / Unfinished. Made it very difficult this month because for once I was not choosing my next listen based on a GR challenge.

message 44: by Joel (new)

Joel (joelevard) Jennifer (Feedback's just another word for we don't give a damn) wrote: "I cannot sort by progress on iOS. Recent, Title, Author, Length. Not Finished / Unfinished."

if your app is up to date, the sort options under the "audiobooks" tab should be "all titles, audiobooks, free, promotional, unfinished, free excerpts." you can then sort within those categories by "recent, title, etc."

So I thought I'd just skip right to Written in my Own Hearts Blood since Echo is a re-read but it won't play either but others on my ipod will play??

Anyway I downloaded Echo to my phone but it won't find WIMOHB when I search author all the other books in the series come up and when I search by title it doesn't come up. Why????

when you go to the My Library - Cloud. Down the bottom there is a filter icon that looks like a funnel. Click that and there is now a slider option for "Hide Finished Titles"
