Mkittysamom (mkittysabkworm) | 77 comments I'm not in a slump but I'm overwhelmed by my books and I am stuck, don't know what to read first. I went overboard on getting books to review and now I just feel lost. I've been ignoring my duties and reading the Warriors series but that has gotten old now. I am also reading one to many books at one time and can't figure out which one to read. Ahhhhhh!

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments Oh, Gosh, Meghan, I know just what you mean. I have been there very recently and it doesn't seem to go away until you find that book that can truly capture you. Which one, which one, will that be?

Karen’s Library | 11320 comments Mod
I know!! I read bits and pieces of each until I find one to match my mood. :)

I gave up and decided to re-read The Giver The Giver (The Giver #1) by Lois Lowry , because I needed a shorter read and it helped. I made a list of the books I need to review and some I wanted to read ;) but yes it took a long time because I kept starting books and going ugh, not this and searching...buying more books lol and amazingly enough winning more books to review!
Thanks Karen and Donna!

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I am having copious amounts of guilt. I told Giselle that I would buddy read the Enchanted Chronicles series with her and I can't even get halfway thru the first book. I seriously can't stand this series. I don't want to disappoint her but I think the most I can make myself do is finish the first book. It her fav series of all time and I hate it!

I am a terrible person. Jeesh, I'm struggling to get thru Harry Potter. I think I need time set aside just to get thru those books in one sitting. Then I think I might love them. Right now I'm laughing out loud thru Chamber of Secrets - seriously, it is hilarious. These kids are so serious and the professors are so funny. Halfway thru and enjoying it, although I put it down and then pick it back up and wish I hadn't put it down. Again, first world problems . . .

I loved every single HP book, but they do pick up the more you get into the series. Right about the end of the Prisoner of Azkaban, where we start learning all kinds of things and things start tying together, is when I became really hooked!

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I'm reading the Prisoner of Azkaban right now! I loved the first two HP books! I had watched the first two HP movies so I kind of knew what would happen but I haven't watched any of the other HP movies so the rest of the books will be a complete surprise!

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 297 comments I am kinda in a slump right now. I just have been not doing anything.

Sometimes I have to push myself to start a book. I usually don't have to push myself to finish it though :P

I go through the same thing sometimes. It's hard to start a new book, especially after you've just read an amazing book.
But once I start, it's hard to stop.

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 787 comments wow! Its so nice to.know that I am not the only one who gets in one of these. i always feel bad when I get in one.

message 62: by Alison (new)

Alison Morquecho (thebookishcamper) | 787 comments @daniel that is so true! once I read a really good series I get into a slump, like right now.I kinda had to.make.myself read something new. I just finished the one, which was great, but now im trying out new series and I'm just worried they won't b as good as the recent ones I've read, chaos walking and the darkest minds. its SL hard sometimes

That's what I do, I read some short books or novellas. I usually am reading 2 ebooks, an audiobook, a slower book and 1 or 2 quicker books at one time. I get into trouble when I don't like the quicker books and the ebook. Which is why I had 9 books in progress last month.

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 297 comments huge, lumpy slump.

I wish I could concentrate on reading. :(

I would love to be able to read right now. I just can't concentrate. I guess it is understandable, but ugh. I hate this. Its been over a week since I've been able to read more than a like more than a chapter if that at a time. I feel useless as reading is one of the few things I can almost always do.

:(

I've been on a zombie ad comic binge! It's been fun I made friends with a bunch of authors and scored a free set of books! I love after reading a book to be able to ask Rothe author questions! Now that I'm out of my slump...I had a writing slump...I have like 20 reviews due lol. Kaylani, try some short stories or comics or graphic novels :)

Keep trying, Kaylani. All it takes is one good book.

I'm in a bit of a slump only because I have so much on my mind I can't seem to concentrate. I get a few pages in and my brain starts making lists. :(

message 74: by Mkittysamom (new)

Mkittysamom (mkittysabkworm) | 77 comments What about Audio Books? Or entering contests for more books :) That's what I do.. alway on the search for more!!

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I'm in a total reading slump this week & I think it's because I've read two very heavy, long but good books in a row. I feel like I need to stop all challenges & buddy reads & just read something light and cute & very different or read even an NA romance. Ugh....suggestions?? I suppose it doesn't help that I've worked three 10 hour days in a row :(

Karen’s Library | 11320 comments Mod
I'm going through that too, Rose. Mine is that I'm maxing my brain out at work and with the long hours on top of it, about all I can do is veg for a couple of hours with some mindless TV. I have another week of this workload so hopefully next weekend I'll be back into the swing of things. :) Read your light books and give your brain a rest! We've all been there!

I'm too zonked to even hold a book right now. I think I'll put on the audiobook I'm listening to instead and drink a cup of herbal tea.

audiobook is a smart Choice I think. Zombies Vs. Unicorns by Holly Black is great as a audiobook.

Rose: Mates, Dates, and Inflatable Bras (Mates, Dates, #1) by Cathy Hopkins Girl Online (Girl Online, #1) by Zoe Sugg Ruby Blue (Ruby Blue, #1) by Julie Cassar Love Is Hell by Melissa Marr Prom Nights from Hell by Meg Cabot a few suggestions I hope they help.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments Thanks @Oda and @Karen! I only have 8 hours to work today and then I'm off for the weekend! Going to find something light to read :)

Storm Arashi (stormarashi) | 1130 comments All I'm gonna say is... It sucks when you wanna jump back into an awesome book but hesitate because your frigging exhausted. (For some reason my internal alarm clock has been saying: "THREE HOURS OF SLEEP IS PLENTY. GET UP!" so I've been dozing off at three AM and waking up at six... To which I usually require a nap sometime after... I wanna sleep...QAQ) My slump is... I'm too tired.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I picked up the first Percy Jackson book today from my daughter's collection as I bought her the set for Christmas and she's reading book 2 so I'm reading book 1 :) Just what I need I think.....first line of the book....I accidentally vaporizer my pre-algebra teacher :) Ha! Ooh, Rose, the Percy Jackson series and the Heroes of Olympus series (the spin-off) are some of my favourite books EVER!
Hope you like them!

I am so glad you are enjoying the PJ series and they are easily some good books to read if you have been on a reading slump for a while.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments @James and @Daniel the last three books I've read have been very long (400 or more pages) and very heavy material so I think I just need a break from those kinds of books for a while & not to commit to any buddy reads or challenges, just to read for enjoyment :)

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Slumping real hard.
I haven't found a 5 star book in a long time, and I haven't read much recently partly because I've been frustrated at the lack of amazing reads and partly because I've been busy with school.
Hope I can find a good read soon. I'll be starting Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas soon. I don't like fantasy but I hope this is an exception.

Marla | 366 comments I read 3-4 books at a time, so I try to make sure I am reading at least one that is a quick or fun read. I usually get in a slump when I'm reading a non-fiction book.

Silly me, I was just reading 2 non-fictions at the same time. At least both were quite short. Reading is more fun now that I finished them.

message 95: by Brooke (new)

Brooke (brookeluvsbooks) I just got out of a horrible reading slump by listening to audio books and now I'm addicted to them :]

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments Back in a reading slump again...ugh. Not sure what to read. Maybe I just need to draw a book out of my TBR jar & not read a book just because it's a BOTM or a buddy read. Anyone read The Murder Complex, Mud Vein, Never Fade, Jackaby or Bird Box? I have these all on my Kindle.

Rose (The_Calm_Reader) (roselittlebookowl75) | 1372 comments I also have Cress, The Lux Beginnings, The Bone Season, Cruel Beauty.
