Today I Learned...
Today I learned about Googling Atari Breakout.Seriously.
Google "Atari Breakout" and click on the Images section. Changed my whole morning.
TIL......about mass uploaders. I was flipping around SFFB and someone was complaining about books on Amazon.
Plagiarizers, ugh.
Beattrice Thora Dalziel - http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_nos...
In this list I've seen books by:
Barbara Hambly
Stephen King
James P. Hogan
Harry Harrison
James P. Kelly
Graham Masterton
I've run into another author that does that. They use old science fiction stories and just switches the genders of the characters. So all boys are girls and all girls are boys. Otherwise they're word for word. Sadly, I read all of one before I realized what it was.

I was trying to report this to Amazon, but apparently only the copyright holder can report it no matter how obvious it is.
I called them and reported it to a CS person. I didn't use the "report copyright violation" form/button, etc.But I also emailed one of the authors and they replied that they are getting their agent on it.
Today I learned that goodreads can link up to my amazon account, which helps me add all my amazon books to GR... It's going to take me days to sort through them all...But I will have to do it.. :)

lol
Though I don't think you should link them, I understand why you want to.
This week I learned that I'm giving up on this year's challenge. Okay, I'm not giving up on the challenge, but I'm giving up on finishing the countries in order.
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "This week I learned that I'm giving up on this year's challenge. Okay, I'm not giving up on the challenge, but I'm giving up on finishing the countries in order."I can understand. You gave yourself serious limitations.

^I'll get you a tinfoil hat. :)I follow Charles Stross's advice and take the battery out of my cellphone.

What does that do? (battery)
And I look marvelous in Silver. Thank you! :)
^If you don't want to be followed or leave a trace, turning the cellphone off is not enough, removing the battery is always safer.
Today I got five cavities filled, on my right side. (I have 6 more on my left and one in the front.)Now I'm just sitting at home waiting for the numbness to wear off enough to have some coffee...
No ouch yet. But, then, I'm still numb. The weirdest part is that some of my nose is numb. It's just... it feels so odd... like being stuffed up, without being stuff up... or something...
(I'm gonna stop talking now.)

The borg knows where you are. :)
Get better c.o.lleen.

I have a high tolerance for local anesthetics so whenever I have work done they have to numb my whole head. It's weird to feel your hair move when it's numb.
I went over to my sister's house real quick, and had to pet their dogs for 30 minutes...As I was leaving, I realized I was breaking out all up and down my arms.
One more reason to stay away from dogs. o_O

In other news, I'm both bored and listless. Blech.

SOrry you have a dog allergy. You know, my Benji is hypoallergenic. :-D *hint, hint*
c.o.lleen ± (... never stop fighting) ± wrote: "For some strange reason, I'm a bit skeptical about that statement... ô_o"Hubby is allergic to dogs but he's not allergic to Benji. There's a (short) list of hypoallergenic dogs.
Has anyone else gotten a goodreads email which was titled "A personal message from [author]" which is obviously just a paid advert/book plug?
c.o.lleen ± (... never stop fighting) ± wrote: "Has anyone else gotten a goodreads email which was titled "A personal message from [author]" which is obviously just a paid advert/book plug?"Not me
I did the other day. It said something like, I'm glad you enjoyed my book and you'll be happy to know the next one is soon to be released, or something like that. I found it odd, I'm not 'friends' with the author or anything. I probably have her listed as one I'm following though. I think that's why I got it.
That's what mine was, too. I don't follow this author, though. I think it was sent to anyone who had read her books and rated it 3 or better. That's my theory, anyway.
Today, well, yesterday or maybe the day before I learned that my fingers are pretty much dead to Overdrive a lot of time. How does one flip pages consistently with it? Kindle has no problem all the time. Sometimes I have to turn the screen sideways and force a stroke from off the screen all the way across and then sometimes it works nicely for five minutes and then starts ignoring my finger again. It's really annoying. I might never e-borrow another library book again.

What is Overdrive? :)
I live in Canada and have a Kindle so Overdrive doesn' work on my K3, but my Galaxy S4 has the actual Overdrive Media Console app that let's me connect to my library and borrow e-books which is so super cool, execpt that the Overdrive app sucks with recognizing my page flips. It seems very inconsistent.
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "...How does one flip pages consistently with it? Kindle has no problem all t..."That must be very frustrating! I find tapping in the right or left margin works well for page flipping (on iOS). Have you tried uninstall/reinstall?
I haven't tired uninstalling. It's weird becuase other applications are totally fine. I haven't been able to find much on-line about the issue.
I only saw one mention of a similar problem and that user suggests it was an intermittent thing perhaps due to bugs in specific ePub files.
^What other options do I have in Canada? Any other readers sync into Overdrive on Android?I'll probably just have to use the Kobo app. Is that a good reader? I'm not excited about trying out a lot of different readers.
I've used Overdrive on my Nook HD which runs Android. I don't remember experiencing issues with page turning the times I used it. Usually the problem is me accidently hitting the screen and flipping the page.
^That happens sometimes too, but most of the time the issue is no page turn at all unless I try three times.

I use Kobo only because I have a kobo. IDK. I don't have any good suggestions. :-(
Have you tried Marvin?

It's funny because the twist was obvious - even if I hadn't known before it happened. So no loss really. But lesson learned.
