hahahaha! You surprised me! I guess the real challenge is finding a book written in English with my name...

Nate Espinola | 10 comments To go back to the beginning. I lived in Nyssa Oregon for 6 months when I was 8 years old.

And in response to the other discussion that happened here, I had my Wisdoms removed with only local in the Navy. That was not the best experience. Mine were only slightly vertically impacted. A few shipmates had horizontally impacted teeth. Their stories of the doctor standing on a ladder with hammer and chisel while awake made me very grateful with how easy mine came out.

message 158: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes I have some too.

Today I learned that books are heavy for about the millionth time.

message 159: by Laurel (new)

Laurel And yet I always prefer a book over electronic for some reason. I'm old fashioned?

I prefer real books too, but after reading Under the Dome in hardcover last year, I had to go see a chiropractor. Super sized books I now read in electronic format.

message 161: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes ^Agreed.

My problem today was the trip to the library with my son. I love the bus ride with him, but we were returning way too many titles and picked up way too many titles. There are worse problems. I really can't complain.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Went bowling tonight with the boy, my niece, and her boy. Good time was had by all, and I totally won the second and third games. (I should add that I won without breaking 100 at any time, 'cause we all generally suck.) :D

The only downside was I felt a bit ripped off 'cause the coupons I had count 'per game' as really 'per person'. (i.e. we played 3 games, but the way they reckon it we played 12 games, 'cause each of us played 3 games... the coupon is only for 'up to 6 games', so half the rounds were charged at full price, and I only found this out when we got our bill at the end.)

But, regardless, we had fun.

Then we headed to the arcade, where I continued to dominate hubby dearest in air hockey, and we got enough tickets for me to get a stuffed purple dragon. Win!

message 163: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Woo hoo!

message 164: by Felina (new)

Felina I love bowling and winning with a pathetic score. In college I was on a league that played at like 8:00 in the morning on Sundays. My team mates figured out that I played better when I would get very little sleep the night before so they started making it so I would not get to sleep before 4am. Thank god for being young. Now I'd die.

As for laughing gas, I had a root canal about 9 months ago. I have a very high tolerance for local numbing and was very nervous so the dentist suggested the gas as a means to calm me down. Best. Decision. Ever. About 10 minutes into the procedure I felt the pain because the local had worn off but I was so happy I just looked at the doctor with all that crap in my mouth and said, 'Uh oh. That one smarts a little sir.' It was one of the most relaxing times of my life. I can't speak for outside of the US but you should just be able to request the gas for any procedure. They will make you pay extra but only like $20 bucks. I am looking forward to my next dental procedure. He he.

message 165: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Yeah. I could get by on much less sleep in college. Not happily, mind you, but I could do it.

I keep thinking of joining a bowling league, but it'd have to be for fun and not competitive. We really do suck.

message 166: by Felina (new)

Felina When you join a league they'll calculate your handicap each week. Obviously it would have to be an amateur league but it doesn't matter if you suck.

message 167: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes Today I am learning that April 28 is way to early to start youth soccer in Saskatchewan. Actually I knew that. Too bad the city organizers don't know that.

It's zero Celsius and snowing. Tomorrow is supposed to be 3C and rain, turning to snow right around soccer time in the evening.

message 168: by Laurel (new)

Laurel As a fellow Canadian, I lift my Tim Hortons Double Double to you. I totally get it!

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments Today (yesterday) I learned that I bowl better with bumpers up. I don't even hit them... Just removing the chance of a gutter ball makes me throw better :P

To be fair a lot of horrors start like that... decided not to read any horror books while I was there, just in case ;)

message 182: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes Context-sensitive reading. Sounds like a good idea.

message 183: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 506 comments I kinda feel like I'm being a hypocrite though... I tend to complain that I can't find any books thay actually scare me, so I should have taken the opportunity to read a horror based in a cabin in the woods. Maybe that would have worked ;)
It might have caused problems if i needed the toilet in the middle of the night though I guess, as you have to go outside...

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments So, a (extended) family member posts this status on their FB:

"Does anyone in my family gets margarine if so what does the doctor give u cuz they can fine a med to work for me and I can't take them anymore urg it's going to be a long night at work"

And I know it's probably an auto-correct, but I'm tempted to respond with: "Personally, I try to stick with real butter." :)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Yeah, well... if I tried to correct everyone's text speak and grammar on FB, I'd never get anything else done.

HAHA! TRUTH!

message 196: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments Well. I would give some slack. They did have a headache when they wrote it. Maybe.

One of my friends awhile back posted about an earthquake we had. But for some reason she wrote sandquake. Which reminded me of sand worms. And Dune. I don't think she got my joke. But I enjoyed it.

message 197: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 506 comments I get really annoyed at horrible spelling... Not saying I'm perfect, but at least I've got an excuse in English not being my native language... Which makes me try to avoid correcting other people :p

message 198: by Felina (new)

Felina Spelling isn't that big of a problem for me. The English language is nuts with spelling and autocorrect is turning into a big problem. But we all learn punctuation in middle school. And text speak makes me cringe. Smart devices have evolved to the point where we can easily type in full sentences.

Though, like Nienna said, maybe it was the headache. Though when I have a bad headache the glow of a smart device would be torture.

message 199: by Lee (new)

Lee | 939 comments I hate text speak but luckily most of my friends are old school - which makes us sound so old. I don't mind one or two mistakes. We all make them. But when there's a mistake every other word, yeah, that bugs me.

message 200: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 506 comments It really bugs me when people aren't even trying, like text speak. The occasional mistake is fine, I'm not a complete lunatic... :p

Wrong use of They're - their - there and to - too - two bugs me too though...

On the other side I can never remember how to spell definitely so....
