I think I've been reading too much Regency romance type things. I had a dream last night that I was trying to find my younger sister* a husband... * I don't even have a younger sister.

My apartment building has a "Library"Basically a walk in closet that's a sort of "Need a book? Take a book. Have a book? Leave a book."
So I've learned that at the end of the month, YOU GO AND CHECK OUT THAT ROOM!!! People moving out will dump their libraries before they leave!!!
Today I scored the first two books in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. YAHOO!

That's cool. My train station and work both have a little take a book/leave a book space, but none of the books that get left are ever ones I'm interested in.

The red hair is great. Red hair is great. I loved coloring my hair red. As a good girl who never got ant piercings or tattoos, red hair always felt daring and rebellious to me. Every girl should have red hair at least once.
So... This week I learned being on a computer all day is a lot more tiring than it looks and that it's hard to squeeze in reading time with a full time job.I've been training on data entry and when I get home at 5:00 I'm beat. I eat dinner. I do some reading. Some things that need to be done before morning. And I'm ready for bed around 8:30.
Something else I've noticed - I don't feel like reading on my nook when I get home. My eyes have a hard time focusing on the screen. And a hard time focusing the words. But reading a paper book is much easier.
At my old job I was a file clerk. I did a lot of filing and paper work. I was hardly ever on the computer, maybe a few times a year, and I did a lot of reading on my various ereaders.
Which got me wondering, does anyone else have this problem? If you do a lot of computer work do you have more trouble reading on an ereader than you would a paper book?
That is interesting... I use a computer for work but very little, so I'm fine reading on my Kindle... If I have any energy and time that is...
I'm on a computer at work all day. When I got my first gen Nook, I didn't notice a decrease in reading.Though this year I upgraded to a Nook HD and my reading production has dropped into the toilet. The old one used the eink and was easy on the eyes. The HD doesn't seem to bother me with glare though. I think the decrease is more to the other distractions built into the thing.

I'm on a computer all day long. I own an ereader but I prefer paper books now. I can and do read digitally but I notice that most of the time I really like to give my eyes that break and that I just like the analog. ;) But I do duplicate copies of my favorites.
I'm on the computer all day too. I notice that when I have a hardcore day and staring at the screen for most of the day then I don't want to read on my Nook HD at night. My eyes are tired and unfocused. Focusing on a physical book is a little easier, but my mind is so shot by then that I just want to either crash or watch something stupid on TV.
I also stare at the computer all day, and prefer paper books. I do find my eyes a bit more tired and harder to focus on the ereaders, especially backlit screens - but DTBs also feel more personal to me, somehow.

I agree with both of you! But I play games instead of the TV watching (except SYTYCD! has started!! Woot!)
I get a lot of my reading done on the train to and from work.But my usual nighttime routine is watching one or two episodes of things with Jer at dinner, and then around 9 o'clock we settle to our seperate activities - him playing a game, and me reading a book and drinking my tea. And around 10 - give or take depending - I go to sleep.
There are diversions, of course - like when we play racquetball instead of watching TV, or if I have rehearsal, or the days I just don't feel like reading - but that's a usual night.

I read about that the other day. Not too alarming, really.One, none of us would be surprised if he went to 8. Secondly, the speculation that it's happening isn't even his. He acknowledges that it could happen, but he's never been firm with how long it'll end up being.
Personally, I'd love 8 books. I'd be more concerned about how it affects the show if it get stretched that long. He's already going to play hell finishing before they pass him.

My husband believes that the show will pass him and the books will end up being a shadow of the show instead of vice-versa.
I'm betting that we'll see a pissing contest before it's over.

I'd be more than happy to read 8 ASoIaF books - but he needs to actually write them first. I have a feeling it won't affect the show that much. I think they're going in their own direction with the story. I wouldn't even be surprised if HBO and Martin end the story different.
Right..When he told them the ending, he might have sent them in a different direction. Or, he could change his own ending.
I've decided to stop watching the show. I genuinely enjoy the books more, so this decision was a no brainer.Maybe 10-15 years from now I'll go back and watch the show.
Honestly? I am very tempted to stop the show. This season just hasn't been as good for me. And the changes have started to bug me now. And I don't want to know the end until Martin writes it (if he writes). But I watch it with my aunt, who hasn't read the books, and she still wants to watch it.I was very disappointed in the last episode. The first time I saw the Viper I was looking forward to (view spoiler) Everyone knew it would happen in that episode. I kept waiting.... and waiting.... and finally with only ten minutes left (and after a pointless scene) they show it. And what was there, was good, but I wanted a little more. I thought the book did it better.
I do believe that Martin told the HBO producers his ending - I just think (nothing more than a guess) that they aren't going to follow it. They've already given the hint that there could be 2 different endings.
I still love the show, even with the differences.
I'm getting the seasons from my Dad this weekend to get caught up. I can be part of the discussion soon!
