Today I learned... not to get between two little old ladies and their smut books. I went to the library with my grandmother this morning. First thing, another old lady tried to run past her in the parking lot. Then inside, they both were fighting over the same books - and by fighting I mean smiling and being overly polite - I was afraid a brawl was going to break out.
BTW - my grandmother would've totally won. ;)

I would have loved to see that.
Today I learned that when you get to your breaking point you just have to blow things off, go to Village Inn, order something yummy and read your book by yourself for a few hours. Mmmm free pie and Brandon Sanderson.

I'll have to see if they have a Village Inn close by.

Nah Chris. Room service.
I am heading to an insanely nice resort in Cabo where one of the amenities is fully loaded Kindles and access to pre-pub books. My husband clearly knows the way to my heart. ;)

WHAT? WHY didn't I know about this??
I'm heading to visit in-Laws. Why do I have the sinking suspicion that my vaca won't be as awesome as y'alls?

For real. I need details about these fantasy reading centric vacation spots.
Today I learned that I didn't get the permanent job I applied for, so I will have to keep doing temporary work. If there is any.
DoodlePanda wrote: "Today I learned that I didn't get the permanent job I applied for, so I will have to keep doing temporary work. If there is any."That sucks. :(
I temped for almost a year before I got a permanent job.
It wouldn't be so bad really, but I've got my whole life on hold waiting for a permanent job.Long story.
I'm sure it will :)it's not so much the job itself it's all the other stuff..
I'm not a very patient person... Lol :)
Kelila wrote: "I'm going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park next week. I am SO INCREDIBLY excited!"We went there for our honeymoon. Loved it.
Planning on going again next year, after the new section is built. :>

*hug*
I know the feeling - when you don't have a permanent job you can't make plans for things that require long-term planning.
I have my fingers crossed that the perfect thing will pop up soon.

I'm actually not going on vacation. I'll be getting paid to go to Delray Beach.
Good luck Doodle, being in limbo like that is so difficult ... I hope your situation improves real soon :)

Just get a job in Migrant Health. Then get them to send you to these conferences. Of course, I've been here ten years and this will be my first one.

Well, you've earned that, damn it! Make sure you get lots of time by the beach with frosty drinks that require paper umbrellas.
Wishing everyone well today in job searches, holidays, paper umbrella collecting. That sounds like something I could get into;. Paper umbrella collecting.
Today I learned that there's a whole lot of time to be wasted here on GR once I peeked out of the Gaming Group! So. Many. Discussions!

Today I learned not to read reviews for the book that I am currently reading... I just downloaded it from the library this morning and its kind of slow and boring so I was browsing thru reviews and I guess there's some kind of surprising twist at the end. And I know what the twist is because one reviewer was so very kind to put it in their review... and I was kind of enough to point it out to them (in a very polite way of course) but... really!!! Who does that??!

I might read reviews before starting a book but I stop after that. I don't want other people's reviews to influence my perception and my review.
