Whenever I see the acronym for our group, I always think it means something dirty or rude a split second before I realize what it is...
Today I learned that when you disconnect the battery of certain vehicles, you have to drive a certain number of miles to clear the emissions sensors before having it tested for registration renewal. That number of miles is >5, because that's how far the testing station is from my house.

Had some issues on my VW when I learned all to that stuff.
Disconnecting the battery is a great way to clear codes sometimes.

Yeah, I'd still have to drive it to clear it. I did a bit more checking. Any clear / reset - whether from the OBD interface or from disconnecting the battery - will cause the sensors to go into a temporary fail state. I suppose it keeps people from driving around the corner, clearing the codes, and retesting before it triggers the sensor again. This likely varies among various vehicles in terms of actual implementation, but it seems to be more common than I thought. Which is fortunate, because the guy at the station was immediately able to tell me what was going on when it failed.
I had a power steering light which took away all of the power steering while it was on. Modern cars are hard to drive without power steering. And a manual transmission and it was a workout getting around. The emission sensor makes sense for it to require some actual driving time to prove whether the emissions are actually any better or not.
Today I learned that I probably am a grammar-nazi... Which is ironic as English isn't my first language. Also since I probably do loads of typing errors myself.I just can't help it.

I can but then I have to d/l the plugin for Calibre to strip the DRM and then sideload it.
:(
I'm thinking of just getting the paper version. Less hassle...more money (but less than the ebook from kobo).
