I like it when KD posts here, not because I recognize the music, but because I like looking at the album covers.

you seem like you would be into something like psychobilly.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Natasha wrote: "effin love any warhol!!"

That's an album cover for the Velvet Underground, too, Natasha. Warhol was sponsoring them at the time.

I've been listening to a lot of Matt and Kim. Their song "Daylight" was in a Bacardi commercial/they're sell-outs/blahblahblah. The video for the song is cute and they're pretty much what I like in people in general: dorky, four-eyed boys and girls with funky hair.

It occurred to me the other day that MOST people say they like everything "except rap and country." I always used to counter with, "So you dig funk-jazz and a bit of bluegrass too?"

But where I went to high school, MOST people ONLY liked rap and/or country. Is this a normal experience?

That sounds pretty fun, KD. I would have enjoyed mocking the bass player, while rocking out to the drums.
Too bad about the opening acts. Do they get drunk because they're nervous about performing?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments They should put huge warning labels on that decaffeinated stuff, I think.
Car trouble, KD? Didn't you get it fixed around Christmas?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Okay, I'm making a note to self: Only bike in KD's vicinity...
But what a horrible coincidence, to have all those cars go kaput at the same time. o_O
We've got to figure out a way to get that car curse whammy off of you!

Yes. I know alot of people who love country and rap - in fact some of the dive bars/meat markets around here seem to only play country and rap for the dancefloor.

I love bluegrass. I grew up listening to bluegrass (thanks, Dad).

message 681: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Which bluegrass, exactly?

message 682: by Heidi (last edited Aug 25, 2009 07:14AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I love going to see Posey Hill perform live. I also love Steam Powered Airplane. And I grew up listening to musicians from around the Mountain Home area (my dad introduced me to the Gillilands when I was a kid, and Bob and Mary autographed my tape for me) - we'd go to the music festival there every year. And of course, The Carter Family was on regular rotation in our home.

I just looked through this thread for the first time. King Dinosaur, I think I love you.

I recently bought the CD Skyforger by Amorphis (a Finnish metal band). I LOVE it!!! I can't stop listening to it.

smetchie | 4034 comments Matt! I am really really liking Joanna Newsom! She's quirky and I like the plinkyplunky music. Her voice is almost annoying but comes off sweet and kooky instead. And her lyrics!
"I killed my dinner with karate.
Kick 'em in the face. Taste the body.
Shallow work is the work that I do.
"
are you kidding me!?!

Sarah | 13814 comments Did anybody else see the headlines yesterday about 'an investigation of Rolling Stones' guitarist's death' and wonder how they had missed Keith and/or Ron's passing?
It turns out they're examining the death of Brian Jones again.

I'm extra confused now.

message 696: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Apparently, there is new evidence to suggest that Brian Jones may have been murdered, not died in an accidental drowning. But the headlines just said "Rolling Stones' guitarist death" and I figured that Brian Jones wouldn't be in the news decades after the fact, so one of the others must have died.
I was wrong.
