I love The Smiths so much it causes me slight physical pain.

That's too bad, but much better than a lot of other places :).

message 756: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Aw man. Blue Cheer. Holy crap.

message 757: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not so bad. Just ... really different.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I was just thinking about that interview yesterday, wondering how it had gone. :)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Are you ready for it?

message 760: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Uh oh.

message 761: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Wish I had one of those.

message 762: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Phone or benefactor?

message 763: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Got a couple of phones.

message 764: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments What about Skype? Then all you need is a headset, and a good internet connection.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I've got Roll Out stuck in my head right now... even though I'm listening to Neko Case. :D

Roll Out (My Business) - Ludacris

(one of the coolest videos ever - the little man dancing part, I mean)

message 766: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Page France! Enjoy it, N.

Currently: "Lord Kill the Pain" - Red House Painters

message 767: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (ghostinmarble) I'm going to see Neko Case in November.

*pauses to smile goofily like I do every time I recall this fact*

Current playlist has recently consisted of Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Roky Erickson, The Cramps, PJ Harvey's latest record, and Murder By Death.

My love for the Smiths also causes me pain in my soul... as some part of said soul will always be sixteen, clumsy, and shy.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments You can borrow my cell phone if you need to, KD. I could courier it to you.
Really, I mean it.

message 769: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Jackie's so cool.

message 770: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) That first one looks like a Caravaggio.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Okay, but the offer stands open if things fall through, KD.

message 772: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Can't lose with Jesus Lizard...

message 773: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (ghostinmarble) Yeah, it does look like a Caravaggio.

Neurosis? Holy cats... I haven't listened to them since high school.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Small world, KD!

message 775: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) He's not bleeding! That can only mean man rape!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments "Beyond the Sea" - Bobby Darin

"All Along the Watchtower" - Bob Dylan

Wouldn't you be in Vegas?

message 778: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (ghostinmarble) Oh man, that Rockin' Bones looks sweet. I'll keep my eye out for that one.

message 779: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (ghostinmarble) KD, downloaded Rockin' Bones last night. I am a happy, happy girl.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments "U Got the Look" - Prince, featuring Sheena Easton!
"Raspberry Beret" - Prince. One of the best summer songs, ever!

message 781: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (ghostinmarble) Nabbed a couple of great albums from Soulseek - "Femmes de Paris Vols. 1 and 2." Female French pop singers from the 60s and 70s doing their thing. Great covers of the Moody Blues "Nights in White Satin" and the Stones' "Paint it Black."

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Those sound great, Natalie!

Prince is Sheena Easton? I knew it!

message 784: by [deleted user] (new)

I was just listening to "People Who Died" by the Jim Carroll Band.

Jim Carroll, 1949-2009

message 785: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (ghostinmarble) Yeah, KD, it really does. Also have picked off Dead and Gone: Trauermarsche - Funeral Marches and a psychobilly band called Hillbilly Hellcats, and as many versions of Cry Me A River as I can find by female artists (there are some songs that were just meant to be sung by male/female artists, and Cry Me A River was meant to be done by women. There, I said it.)

You got me in a mood for ein klein nachtmusik, KD!

message 786: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Ooh. Haven't listened to Prince lately.

I'm listening to Thom Yorke's The Eraser now. I'm not a huge Radiohead guy, but I like this disc a lot.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments "Eminence Front" - The Who
"Werewolves of London" - Warren Zevon
"Loving Me, Loving You" - ABBA
"Night Time Is the Right Time" - Ray Charles

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Goin' old school grunge, I see, KD...

Tonight I played Mogwaii's Happy Songs for Happy People and Fields' From Here We Go Sublime in my office real loud.

message 789: by [deleted user] (new)

I have those Green River, Nirvana, and Screaming Trees albums.

I rocked out to the last Afghan Whigs album, 1965 the other day. Good one--it didn't get the accolades that Gentleman got.

message 790: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I like Congregation a lot myself...

message 791: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Love the artwork on Screaming Trees, a lot.

message 792: by [deleted user] (new)

Stephen wrote: "Love the artwork on Screaming Trees, a lot."

Looks like kind of a precursor to the new Alice in Wonderland movie.

1965 is an AMAZING album, start to finish.

Gentlemen has that concept album thing going where individual songs don't necessarily stand out. I like to listen to it when I'm in a dark mood.

I don't do a lot of whole-album listening these days, but both of those are usually whole-album listens for me.

message 794: by Natalie (new)

Natalie (ghostinmarble) Gentlemen is my hands down favorite Whigs record.

1965 has "My Enemy," though. Fantastic tune.

message 795: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephenT) Going now!!!!!

message 796: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I will now do a happy dance all over the internet. My bassist bought me a ticket to Springsteen's first Baltimore show since the early 70s! Baltimore Arena is small, and I am happy happy happy.

message 797: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay for you Sarah. I'm sure you will have a great time.

Oh! That's wonderful, Sarah! Have you ever seen Bruce Springsteen in concert?

message 799: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I have, and he's always worth it.

message 800: by Heidi (last edited Sep 25, 2009 08:14AM) (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I'd love to see him in concert. I haven't, though. About 10 years ago, he came to Little Rock and had one concert... and rumor was he was pissed that the box office jacked the prices up so high that he vowed to never return to Little Rock and that sucks for us... really. I mean, I get why he'd be mad, but it sucks that we have a venue that inflates ticket prices.
