What's 777?
Down the road about eleven blocks and across the street from the beast?

A number that's about as significant as 666 or 888 or 999. :)

I've been downloading a buttload of bootlegs from a site called QualityBootz.

Found an OUTSTANDING Stones gig from 1973 whose sound quality is just as good as Get Yer Ya Ya's Out. There's good bootlegged recording to be found at that site.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Nick Cave - "Night of the Lotus Eaters," "Lie Down Here (& be my girl)," and others.

message 871: by [deleted user] (new)

The hum of the flourescent light above me...it's got a nice beat, but I can't dance to it.

message 873: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Ooh, good ones, KD...

Yesterday I listened to a lot of Antony and the Johnsons...rainy day...

Also, I listened to that Dirty Projectors disc everyone was raving about a couple months back...what the was the big deal? I thought the disc was blah.

message 874: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) sarah vaughan is awesome, im a sucker for ella though... and lately ive been listening to diana krall a lot, though people have criticized her vocal abilities (ive been listening to too much music on youtube..) there's something about her voice that does it for me, so to speak.. day or so ago i listened to all the versions of 'cry my a river' i could find on youtube, and Ellas came in first, julie london came a close second, but diana kralls wasnt so bad either, imo anyway, i thought it was one of the better ones..

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I'm in a coffee shop...right now the speakers are playing Sigur Ros's () album. I want to hug the guy behind the counter.

message 876: by David (new)

David (bowsertheturtle) just because you said you were listening to it i checked it out.. its cool, reminds me of pink floyd a bit and some other things i cant put my finger on, like maybe cold play, but mostly pink floyd..

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm listening to aggressively cheerful Christmas music, including the Barenaked Ladies Christmas album, the Brian Setzer Orchestra, the Beach Boys, and lots and lots of Vince Guaraldi.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Why are you sorry to say that, KD?

message 879: by [deleted user] (new)

Any day is a good Nick Cave day, in my book.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments And does it make you feel better, or worse?

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Sarah, have fun tonight! I heard the Milwaukee concert was great...

Ok, people, you need to know that Jackie thinks just about everything to which I listen is depressing. She says Eno's Music for Airports is depressing. Mellow, yes...laid-back, yes...ambient, of course...but not, in my eyes/ears...depressing...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_4pe3...

What do you think?

message 883: by Evee (new)

Evee (evee9109) | 2 comments 1. Dear Angel by April Sixth
2.Straight through my heart by Backstreet Boys
3.Love Show by Sonohra
4. Mujeres in the club by Wisin Y Yandel featuring 50 cent
5. Ven a bailar from Isa TKM.

My playlist is bilingual. LOL!

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Not everything, RA. Just... most of what you listen to. A lot of the Wilco is good, and the last eels CD was okay.
But it's not like you listen to much upbeat pop, you know.

message 885: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Hm...some, I guess, but I don't reference those often...The Hold Steady is upbeat...oh, Stars are...I'll get those to you:)

message 886: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Stars can be pretty depressing.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I like the Hold Steady. :)

message 888: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Hm....good point....maybe I do listen to depressing music:)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments And, you listen in the dark. While you drink.

message 890: by [deleted user] (new)

Good lord, RA! We must be on an Eno kick, because I've been listening to Another Green World non-stop today.

And, no, Music For Airports is not depressing. I find it to be excellent reading-and-relaxing music.

Cont. 996: ....sometimes at 9:30 in the morning.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I listened to Eno again, and those minor key harmonies just about prostrate me. Depressing, heck yes!

message 893: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I just wanted to be post 1000. I just found this on youtube. I loved the Ellen James Society, and I never even knew they had made a video. So early 90s.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments high-fives Eno-lovin' Gus, notes we outnumber Jacks 2-1

I was listening to Phillip Glass through my headphones in this coffee shop, just after dusk, but the cacophony in my head was too much so I switched to Postal Service.

message 895: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments The Mountain Goats' Heretic Pride now. I forgot how much I loved this album...first time I'm listening for a good six months.

message 896: by [deleted user] (new)

Glass' Music in 12 Parts unnerved the hell out of me, for some reason.

Jackie would be wise to listen to Eno's Here Come The Warm Jets for a more aggressive side of the man. Robert Fripp's solo on Baby's on Fire is one of the most breathtaking, shattering and spine-tingling solos you'll ever here; you swear you can see Fripp's amplifier melting during that solo, as Eno cheers him on for the sake of art.

message 897: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Oh, I'm with you, KD...I love that record.

Gus, yes, that one would be better for Jackie, I agree. Unfortunately, I sent her Sigur Ros' "()" instead, which will probably lead to tears before track three....

message 898: by [deleted user] (new)

RA, are you trying to kill Jackie? I love me some Sigur Ros, but I would never recommend them to a friend. Ever.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I'm starting to wonder, myself, Gus. Yes, the Sigur Ros had me crying pretty fast. I had to turn it off and mainline some Dancing With the Stars to calm down.
Go Donny! :)

message 900: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Ha...Gus...that made me laugh...yes...bad timing...I had already sent the package when she said Eno freaked her out...but...

goes into secret musical lab, looks for Joy Division's Closer, makes her a copy
