The Goodreads Authors Challenge - 2014
Sydney wrote: "I'm still wondering whether or not we can count multiple books by the same author??"Hi Sydney,
My guess is no because the point of this challenge is to discover new authors to you, so each new author would count. Zara is leading this challenge though and I am sure she will give you the definitive answer.
I would agree with Jodi that surely the whole point of the challenger is to discover new authors so one author would count only once regardless of the number of books you read by the same one, that's how I'm compiling my list - perhaps some clarification from the moderators is needed
I would like to update my goal to 10 instead of 5, please! Which also means I have finished 6/10 instead of 3/5. Thanks! Also I'm Erika msg 20.
Victoria wrote: "surely the whole point of the challenger is to discover new authors..."Except it does say right in the challenge: "The authors you read don't need to be new to you; however, we encourage you to go outside of your comfort zone a bit to discover new authors right here."
Clarification would definitely be great.
Ok so while the authors being new to you might be more a spirited suggestion, and I'll admit I have previously read other books written by a couple of authors on my list, I guess the fundamental question is can one author of multiple books count multiple times for this challenge? It might be that it is down to individual choice and interpretation of the challenge. I'm sure Zara will shed some light on it.
Woo-hoo! I've met my goal of reading ten Goodread Authors' books. I've read eleven since one is non-fiction and I didn't know whether it was legit. Seven of the eleven are new to me and I've really enjoyed them. This was a good challenge, whoever thought it up, kudos to you!1. Lynn Flewelling - The Bone Doll's Twin (The Tamir Triad, #1)
2. Brad Thor - Hidden Order
3. Gail Carriger - Etiquette & Espionage
4. Tamora Pierce - Battle Magic
5. Debbie Macomber - Starting Now

8. L. E. Modesitt, Jr. - The Magic of Recluce

I don't mind if you've read a non-fiction book for this challenge. The main criteria is that it's a book written by a GRs author. Some GRs authors write both fiction and non-fiction books

Yes it's down to the individual participant's interpretation of this challenge as to whether you read more than one book by a GRs author or not.
My goal was 10...and have read 19... :) I think I will continue and see how many Goodread's Authors I read!!THE GOODREADS AUTHORS CHALLENGE
