#112 - I finished the classic Science-Fiction/Horror novel
The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells
Rating: 4 stars

The Killer Inside Me by Jim Thompson and Under the Volcano by Malcolm LowryLoved the first book, meh on the second one.
The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells, which was very good. And Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, which was great.
Three Lives by Gertrude Stein. The stories were okay. The style was difficult with narration and dialog having a lot of repetitive phrasing, to the point of distraction.
The Blind Owl by Sadegh Hedayat - 2* - My Review - this was not my jam - recommended to fans of horror

The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists by Robert Tressell, I enjoyed the story and the political philosophical discussions.
#113 - I finished the somewhat-autobiographical classic
Martin Eden by Jack London
Rating: 5 stars

#114 - I finished the first book in the Border Trilogy
All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy
Rating: 4 stars

Tom Jones by Henry FieldingOverall, a lengthy but relatively light read. It is straightforward and easier to understand than some classics and made me smile at times. I also found it a little repetitive at times but I'm glad that I've finally read it.
#115 - I finished the memoir
H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald
Rating: 3 stars

It's a nice book, but I'm not sure anyone really needs to read this one before they die.
Agree. Very interesting, in-depth descriptions but not a 1001 need. Must be the quality of the writing not the subject.
Last list book I read was The Optimist's Daughter. There's not much plot, but her writing is fantastic! Wish she had more books on the list. 4 stars.
