It took a while, but I just finished The Magic Mountain.
And I think I may have, Jennifer. I may not have understood it all, but I did enjoy the story part of it.

I definitely didn't understand it all. I liked the story part of it, too. The philosophy parts are what killed me! :)

The Trials of Persiles and Sigismunda: A Northern Story by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
The title of this book is also listed as "The Travels of Persiles & Sigismunda". However, the original Spanish title used the word "trabajos" which literally means "works". To me, "Trials" is closer to "Works" than "Travels", so I went with "Trials". This might not matter to anyone, but I thought I should clarify in case anyone thought I had made a mistake.

The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner. Not the easiest read, but when it all comes together its genius is realized. Loved it.
1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
I really enjoyed this novel -- fascinating plot, interesting characters, and beautifully written. Murakami has definitely become one of my favorite authors.

OMG I did it. Wil Wheaton loves this book and that made me wanna love it. It was... interesting. I'll give it that. It was an experience.

I found this book to be much better than most of the pre-1700 books that came out of the European area. I've given it 4/5 stars.

I read that earlier this year. I thought it was an interesting read as well.

Nope. No thanks. Not reading that ever again. I don't need kind of emotional trauma in my life.

I found the first 300 pages or so of this novel an outrageous roller-coaster of a ride but unfortunately there were still a quarter of it to go.

I finished Dom Casmurro by Machado de Assis. Very interesting style. I love reading a book that knows it's a book.
