A tough read, especially if you have elderly parents and/or grandparents.

Peter | 443 comments The Golden Ass by Lucius Apuleius
As Apuleius puts it himself in his introduction: “If you are not put off by the Egyptian story-telling convention that allows humans to be changed into animals and, after various adventures, restored to their proper shapes, you should be amused by this queer novel… now read on and enjoy yourself!”

I loved Tarzan. It took me back to when I used to watch the series on Saturday mornings. Burroughs knows how to keep a story moving. I didn’t realize that this was the first book in a long series.

Angie | 150 comments Paulo Coelho Veronika Decides to Die: awful.
I don't know why I expected it to be better than "The Alchemist" (another completely overrated Coelho book, in my opinion) -
it wasn't. Just pages and pages of pseudo-esoteric palaver and an insult to all those who suffer from mental illness.

Although I rather enjoyed the writing, in particular the humour in the later chapters, I didn't get as much out of it as I perhaps should have and feel that it's relevance has diminished with time.
