Hi Ladies....Sorry I am a little late, my father is in the hospital, so it has been hectic. But there is always a good side, while I spend the day at the hospital I read ALOT! Not that that is new, I usually read 1-2 books a day.
Since all this is going on, I will not be able to volunteer for Captain.
Jennifer those are all great names I think my favorite is FIRST IN LINE.
Here are a few to add to the list:
Book Munchers
Spine Crackers
Soul Readers
Between the Lines
I look forward to playing!
Sorry to hear about your father NayNay. I will have your family in my prayers.Unless Lauren or Lindy want to I'll volunteer to be captain if everybody is ok with it?
Hey everyone!Sorry I'm so late to the party, I've been away at a three day work conference. Can't complain though as the hotel was fantastic :0)
I'm great with Jennifer being captain as the academic year is starting here in just over a week and I'll be away from the computer during teaching hours - don't worry though I will still be reading.
I love the name Soul Readers (or perhaps Sole Readers to fit in with team #1). I also like First in Line.
Just thought we'd post a few of the key things for this challenge.1) First and foremost please keep in mind that each person is required to read and review 2 books each week. All reviews MUST BE POSTED by Sunday and Thursday or I CANNOT roll our dice!
(Because of this I wanted to ask you ladies if at all possible we could try to have our reviews posted sometime on Saturday and Wednesday so we can be sure to get to roll our dice as soon as possible?)
2) Books must be at least 150 pages.
3) Anthologies are allowed but you must mention all of the stories in your review.
Sure if I am not away, and i travel a lot. o jate reveows sp O wpmt\ be readomg amtjp;pgoes for sure. How many sentences int he review?
The first roll is this coming Sunday Lindy. That review will need to be posted by Thursday but so we can roll soon as possible I was asking if everybody could try to have their reviews posted sometime on Wednesday for that one.Reviews only have to be a sentence or two. Jenne said it has to be more than you liked or didn't like the book though.
Lindy wrote: "Now can we read what we want, or are books assigned, give me an idea of what i will see on Sunday"Lindy we're all kind of feeling our way since this is the first round of this game but if I am not mistaken we can read anything we want to as long as it is 150 pages long and is either the correct book in a series ....like say I roll a 5 then we would all need to read a 5th in series book or we will be given an alternative choice each week if we don't have a book to fit the series number we land on we can choose the alternative instead.
One small clarification - you read the number of the book you land on not the number you roll - so the first time if you roll a 5 then you read the 5th book in the series (or the alternative, which is chosen at random by the Mods). On the next turn, say you roll a 3 and you move three space to land on 8, you read the 8th book in a series (or the alternative) not a 3rd book in a series.
That's right Lauren. The roll is only to move places the spot you're on determines the # of the book you read.
Since I get all my books from the library and usually have 30 out at a time, I dont have unlimied books to choose from. If I am at my house I can run to the library but not if I am at my boyfriends house.
@Lindy - there will always be an alternate option to reading a book in a series - a book with a certain setting, with a particular cover color or on a specific Goodreads shelf. I'm sure it won't be too difficult to find something to read from your library selection. There is a link of the possible alternate items (a different one will be called each time) in the links at the top of this thread.
You shouldn't have any trouble then. I personally prefer to read in order so I might be making good use of the alternate item option.
the high numbers ae books that coem out once a year as in Stuart Woods Stone Barrington series, and Sherryl Woods Chesapeake series
The rules state that for the high numbers, say 24, you can read either the 2nd, the 4th or the 24th in a series. Your choice.
I will probably frequent the alternative a good bit myself Lauren because I am very anal about reading out of order. LOL
I don't read a lot of series books so I will be looking for alternative option. I read a book sometime 2 a day so I don't think I will have a problem finding something to fit.
We rolled a 2 ladies and is on spot 2 so we need to read either a second in series or do the alternative which is Alternative - The author's first, middle, or last name to start with a "b"
Please remember this review needs to be posted by Thursday but
if at all possible
if everybody could have their reviews in sometime on Wed so I can go ahead and get everything linked up and ready for our next roll it would be a HUGE help for me. :)
Okay I will be going with the Alternative and reading
by Lynn Kiele Bonasia. Jennifer I will probably start it tonight or tomorrow morning, I will be posted by Wednesday.\
HAPPY READING LADIES!!
Finished my first book here is my review....
by Lynn Kiele Bonasia 10/08/13 - 4 starsA wonderful novel. The story was really...you could relate to it and the characters. The characters were brought to life, they seemed to walk of the pages. The book was filled with wisdom, it was witty, and the description was so well done I want to go visit the Cape now.
Finished my book and will post a review tomorrow morning as it is quite late here and I can't keep my eyes open.

Review: Very nice story of magic and mayhem. I love books that open up and your already pretty much into the action as was Second Chance with Ava coming face to face with a creature I would say would resemble a zombie and having a gorgeous hunk of man come rescue her out of the blue.
Only she later learns this strange man was once very much a huge part of her life in another land..one she must revisit for the sake of her people.
Spot #2: Second in series
Book: Quicksilver by Amanda Quick
Finished: Oct 8th
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
Waking up in a mirrored room next to a dead man, Virgina Dean is rescued by the enigmatic and dangerous, Owen Sweetwater. It soon becomes clear that Virginia is the target of a serial killer murdering glasslight readers, and she and Owen will have to pool their resources to find the villain before it is too late.
Quicksilver follows a similar formula to the previous books Arcane books but it has its moments nonetheless.
As per Quick/Krentz's other couples, Virginia is a vivacious and determined heroine with an interesting backstory and Owen is intense and sexy although the nature of the Sweetwater family business and the nightwalker affliction could have been better developed. The attraction between Virginia and Owen is captivating and their chemistry sizzles.
The investigation into the glasslight reader murders is interesting and the climax is one of the more gripping in the series although the culprit is not all that surprising. Unlike the overly detailed descriptions of dreamlight in the previous trilogy, Virginia's glasslight ability and the idea of perceiving the afterimages of violence in mirrors is well-written and compelling. One shortcoming, however, is that the plot thread concerning Mrs. Bridewell's automatons lacks explanation and remains unresolved. Perhaps information on this will be forthcoming in the final installment.
Despite their formulaic nature, Quick/Krentz's books always manage to leave me smiling and satisfied, and Quicksilver is no exception.
Lindy posted her review in the discussion thread if she doesn't post it over here by the time you're ready to turn it in just go ahead and use her post from over there
Jenne wrote: "Lindy posted her review in the discussion thread if she doesn't post it over here by the time you're ready to turn it in just go ahead and use her post from over there"oops ok. Thanks for letting me know Jenne! ;)

My Review:
This was a monster to read, but I loved every minute of it. I usually read books fast, near speed of light fast, but on a choice few I slow my pace to savor the taste. You really have to just to soak up the atmosphere of this dying world.
I don't want to review this in full since it will give way too much away, but it will twist your emotions about like a tilt a whirl. Read it and weep! I mean that in the literal. You will cry, scream and even bitch out this book, but it is very dearly worth the read.
And I need to get this out there, my GOD this man can write some damn fine characters.
