This was a on the edge of you seat book....Very strong characters, good storyline and even though it was a typical romantic suspense, it had some pretty good sex scene's - very hot! I would recommend highly both this book and the author.

The next roll is Sunday Dec 1 due to Thanksgiving.
Also, please can you post your review in this thread. Thanks.

I'm afraid I'm unlikely to finish by midnight :0(
It is almost 22:00 here and I have to be up tomorrow at 7:00 - I'm halfway into the book and will only be able to read a couple of hours more - *sigh*

Book: Lothaire by Kresley Cole
Finished: Nov 26th
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
An entertaining addition to the IAD series although there are some irritating elements.
What can one say about Lothaire? He's magnificent yet evil, cunning and intelligent yet ruthless and cold-blooded. Since the beginning of the series, he has been the most intriguing of all Loreans and we finally get his backstory and explanations for his behavior.
The Saroya/Ellie storyline is interesting but not as intense as it could have been. In contrast, the revelations in the overall story arc are compelling, especially the insights into Nix's machinations, and the introduction of the Dacians.
The romance has its ups and downs. Ellie is a wonderful heroine, feisty and courageous with a stubborn streak that drives Lothaire round the twist. There are one or two moments when she could have had more backbone but all in all, she gives Lothaire a run for his money and it is fun to see him so confounded.
The biggest problem, however, is that despite his infatuation with her, Lothaire views Ellie as inferior and unworthy of his attentions for much of the book. He even wishes his Bride were someone else. Moreover, he constantly belittles and dictates to her and even turns her into a vampire against her will. Yes, he ultimately learns to love and accept her but the timing is problematic (view spoiler)
The secondary cast are intriguing and we will hopefully see more of Thaddeus, Balery and Nix, not to mention Furie and Kristoff as well as Lothaire's Dacian cousins. Lots to look forward to in future installments.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Sweethearts since childhood, Ellie Hogan and her husband, John, are content on their farm in Ireland—until John, a soldier for the Irish Republican Army, receives an injury that leaves him unable to work. Forced to take drastic measures in order to survive, Ellie does what so many Irish women in the 1920s have done and sails across a vast ocean to New York City to work as a maid for a wealthy socialite.
Once there, Ellie is introduced to a world of opulence and sophistication, tempted by the allure of grand parties and fine clothes, money and mansions . . . and by the attentions of a charming suitor who can give her everything. Yet her heart remains with her husband back home. And now she faces the most difficult choice she will ever have to make: a new life in a new country full of hope and promise, or return to a life of cruel poverty . . . and love.
This story was open and honest of the struggle of leaving home for the possibility of something better. I found the book to be a quick read, with strong characters. I would recommend this book to fans of historical fiction and/or about Immigrants.

Book: Lost in Your Arms by Christina Dodd
Finished: Dec 3rd
Rating: ★★★★1/2
Review:
Enid MacLean has a satisfying life as the companion/nurse to Lady Halifax when she is suddenly called to the bedside of her estranged husband after he is almost killed in an explosion. As she nurses him back to health, Enid discovers that he is suffering from amnesia and has no recollection of his past transgressions against her. As they become reacquainted, Enid finds it more and more difficult not to succumb to his charms once again.
Lost in Your Arms is an engaging romance with a smolderingly sexy hero, and an admirable heroine. Enid and MacLean have intense chemistry and their witty banter is light and fun. The suspense sub-plot adds another layer of tension to the story and the resolution is satisfying.
All in all, Dodd is definitely back on track after the disappointment of In My Wildest Dreams.
