Roll 6
We Rolled a 3 putting us on spot 24
Thursday 10/24/13

It's not "week 6" it's Roll 6 because we have to read 2 books per week.

it has been fun. thank you, ladies.

It's only a game and the point is to have fun and read.

It was a war among the supernatural, it was a romance that burned the pages....I really enjoyed this installment to the series. Paranormal Romance fans need to give this series a read.

Tempted and Twisted are novella's

Book: Rogue Rider by Larissa Ione
Finished: Oct 26th
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
Slow to start but picks up at the halfway point.
With the End of Days plot resolved in the previous book, the story focuses more on Jillian and Reseph’s romance, which reads like a contemporary romance until the moment Reseph remembers his past and the supernatural elements come to the fore.
Reseph is the epitome of the tortured hero and the manner in which he deals with his memories is intense and realistic. It is a testament to Ione’s skill as a writer that she manages to redeem a character as evil as Pestilence and enables the reader to sympathize with Reseph to such an extent.
Jillian has had a tough time of it with her unfortunate taste in men and with the demon attack that drove her into seclusion. The fact that she is able to open herself up enough to love and trust Reseph makes her all the more endearing. She and Reseph are sweet together and their emotional connection takes time to build unlike the couples in the previous installments who seemed to fall in lust at first site.
There are some interesting revelations throughout the book such as the identity of the Horsemen’s father although I had already guessed this little tidbit. The relationship between Reaver and Harvester, which has been developing over the series, also gains momentum and I am eager to find out what happens with them.

I added the first book to my TBR. They really do sound good! Thanks for the heads up! :)

Review: Oh wow ya'll know I am a zombie freak and this story totally freaked me! It starts out like your average zombie deal but then it turns into so much more because these are not the mindless stupid zombies that we are used to reading or watching on our tv screen....some of these zombies can think, manipulate, and look almost normal until they're up to close and personal for you to protect yourself! I am totally interested in continuing this series!

this is the tird book inthe Janie series. The Kidnapping is long gone and her boyfriend Reeve Shields is heading off to college in Boston. He has joined the crew at the local radio station in hopes of being well known. Reeve gets his chance to be the voice on the radio, and when he tells the most fascinating story he knows, his show becomes a sensation. Reeve is so sure that Janie will never discover what's making his broadcast such a hit that he doesn't stop himself. Book: Eternal Flame by Cynthia Eden

Eternal Flame
4 Stars
The Night Watch world, comprised of humans and a host of paranormal creatures ranging from vampires and shapeshifters to demons and humans with supernatural powers, is original and intriguing. The focus in is on the latter two groups and unfortunately, despite hints interspersed throughout the storyline, there are not enough background details on the demons - their origins and their abilities.
The plot revolves around Jana Carter, an Ignitor or human with the ability to start and control fires, and the various groups seeking to apprehend her. As the prime suspect in a series of arson cases, Jana is the target of Zane Wynter, a Night Watch Bounty hunter, an overzealous FBI agent and a shady organization bent on destroying all supernatural “monsters”.
The story is fast paced and exciting but it can be difficult at times to keep track of who is who and what is what. Moreover, the writing has a drawn out feel to it because as soon as one thread is wrapped up another appears to take center stage. That said, the themes that emerge are compelling, especially the idea that nothing is as it seems and morality is not black and white as both humans and “Others" alike share a capacity for good and evil.
In terms of the romance, Zane is a sexy and powerful alpha with a dash of tortured hero as he fights to control the darkness within. Jana is smart, resourceful and kick-butt, and her chemistry with Zane is both sweet and spicy. The sex is sizzling but it is the emotional connection that builds between Jana and Zane as they grow to love and trust one another that makes their relationship so special.
This particular trilogy comes to an end but there is one more book set in the same world and knowing Cynthia Eden, it is bound to be action packed and smoking’ hot.

3 stars 10/29/13
I have to admit, it has been years since I read Dracula, so some of the details of his story has been forgotten....with that said.
I liked the character's, and Syrie James writing style is wonderful. The story was intense, you actually feel the emotion going on in Mina for her love between two men. Her vivid detail is beautiful. The book is interesting enough, but the ending totally ruined it for me. 3 stars.

HOW: set in CA
Rated: Rated 5
Finished: 10-29-13
REVIEW
I think Woods is my favorite author with crime, erotica, romance and so much more in it. Stone flies out to Ca where is son and hs friends Hannah and Ben are working ont he movie lot. Someone is trying to kill all of them. And Teddy Fay is part of it. One of my favorite in the series.

Lauren, Lindy's book is set in California, that is the alternate option for Roll 7. She has indicated that in her post.

Review: This brings the conclusion to the Beauty trilogy and although I didn't like it better than book 2 it was totally better than book 1 which was mainly just a warmer upper. Beauty's Release carries on in the erotic tortures/pleasures but Beauty has gotten tougher and turns the other cheek so to speak and I'm not sure I like her that way but it does make for the perfect ending to such a weird yet exciting trilogy

Quick Read Shelf

Roll #8 - Quick Read Shelf, page 2
10/31/13 ***

While I enjoyed the storyline, and the character's were entertaining it was a predictable read. A good fluff book, something you would read on a plane. Oh, and it had pretty hot sex scene.

Book: Winterblaze by Kristen Callihan
Finished: Nov 2nd
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
Excellent beginning and wonderful characterization but takes a turn for the worse with the weird Doctor Faustus plot.
The narrative structure transitions smoothly between the past (1869) and the present (1883), and in this way provides readers with the backstory detailing Win and Poppy’s courtship and early marriage.
Win and Poppy have a definite Mr. & Mrs. Smith vibe going on and their chemistry, both physical and emotional, makes them a compelling couple. Moreover, the keeping secrets trope is thankfully kept to a minimum and the focus is on Win and Poppy’s reconciliation as they work together to defeat a common enemy.
Speaking of the enemy, this is where the story encounters some problems. The plot is contrived and the revelations are predictable. Moreover, there are times when the villain is actually quite sympathetic. Yes, he is evil but he has also been wronged. Moreover, the secondary conflict (view spoiler) is underdeveloped and feels tacked on for the purpose of continuing the series.
The next book, Shadowdance is Jack and Mary’s story and I look forward to learning the reasons for their obvious animosity.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

felt no connection to the characters or the ill timed love connection. the jumping around of view points didn't help matters.
Action wasn't bad. didn't like the invented terms thrown about. could have been better.
