2013 October Pick It For Me! Challenge

Here are my picks for you. I hope you enjoy them and please let me know if you would like any repicks.
.Sweet and Gooey:
Chocolate Truffles
The Raven Prince by Hoyt, Elizabeth- I wa..."
I ordered a few books to start, including Dangerous Highlander, Garden Spells, and Where Dreams Begin. Not sure when I'll get to what, but if you want to try a buddy read, let me know. Thanks again for the great picks.

Thanks, Victoria - and you have it exactly correct. Anyone who hasn't received picks by 5 PM EDT on the 26th will be reassigned to a volunteer to pick for them. I'll put you on the list! :D

Happy to help! Thanks for letting me know!

Chocolate Truffle:

Ice Cream:

Jelly Bean:

Potato Chip:

Pretzels:

Mixed Nuts:

Trail Mix:

Bacon Sunday:

You've already read most of my favorite UF/PNR series, so I hope you find something that appeals to you in these picks.
Sweet and Gooey:
1. Chocolate Truffles - Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey is certainly not an exotic location (camping), but has a very wealthy author as the hero and is a lot of fun to read.
2. Ice Cream - Looks like MacRieve by Kresley Cole is available and seems to be one of your favorite series. Otherwise, check out Jennifer Crusie who is one of my comfort reads with Bet Me. Crusie is known for kooky characters/situations.
3. Jellybeans - The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAlister is a fun look at the past as you have the heroine starring in a reality TV show based on historical times.

Salty and Crunchy:
4. Potato Chips - Ok these are both first in series (even though one says book 2 - ignore it). From your TBR there is Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I love both the H/h in this book and the Dark Hunter mythos is interesting. Or you can check out Red-Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells in which Sabine is a half vampire/half witch in a society where the two groups hate each other. And then she gets to deal with her grandmother.
5. Pretzels - To Die For by Linda Howard is a good suspenseful romance. The heroine is a bit flighty, but a good read. Or you could check out either of these paranormal mysteries (with romance): Opal Fire by Barbra Annino where Stacey learns some truths about her family after her business is set on fire. Or It Takes a Witch by Heather Blake has Darcy and her sister moving to their aunt's town which is just a little bit strange. The idea of crafters is very interesting.
6. Mixed Nuts - The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz has a lot of flashbacks as the narrative is different than anything else I've read as you follow Izzy and the rest of her PI family.

Combination:
7. Trail Mix - Both of these books have a shifter in them. First up is The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy. A cool premise that was a pretty good read. Next is Red Hot Fury by Kasey MacKenzie. I like the paranormal characters are a bit more obscure - furies, warhounds, etc.
8. Bacon Sundae - I find it a bit funny that both of these come from your TBR, but you don't seem to have read much or any historical romance and SciFi, so it seems to fit. Amanda Quick (AKA Jayne Ann Krentz and Jayne Castle) is my favorite romance writer so you should definitely check out the first book in the Arcane Society series with Second Sight. Otherwise, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is a really good book and you can get it read before the movie comes out.

Chocolate truffles:
The Princess and the Barbarian by Betina Krahn (on your TBR)
The Billionaire Next Door by J...."
Hi Jessica, thanks for the picks. I think I'm going to go with

We don't have much in common so it was a nice challenge for the 'little gray cells'. I hope you can find something that works for you. With the exception ..."
I'm so pleased that you like the picks I did for you. I wasn't really sure about a lot of them as they were of a very different genre from what I would read. You've made my day though.

Sweet and Gooey:
Chocolate Truffles – Manacled in Monaco--isn't think where rich people go? Clearly I don't run in those circles. LOL
Paging Dr. Hot set in Miami, so you could be hobnobbing there for sure. And there's a spoiled character in there
Ice Cream – Friday Afternoon--this was a new read for me but I know that I'll visit it again. Great story, very realistic and I highly recommend it
The Locker Room--if you don't have the warm and fuzzies after reading this...you have a heart of stone...STONE I tell you!
Jellybeans – Three to Tango-- very cute m/m/f
Too Stupid to Live--I hear this one is good
Salty and Crunchy:
Potato Chips (betcha can’t eat just one!) – Reflected in You
Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet
Pretzels – Run the Risk and Life Lessons are both great romantic suspense/mystery novels
Mixed Nuts – The Perfect Score
The Real Werewives of Vampire County
Combination:
Trail Mix – Bunny and the Bear cute, funny and sexy
A Love Worth Biting For great new novel by a brand new author! I read the arc and though it was great. Comes out on 10/1/13
Bacon Sundae (don't knock it until you've tried it...) - I decided to go the UF route without any romance and recommend
Joe--this was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't put it down.
Hounded--such a great series, I was hooked from this first book. Atticus and his dog Oberon are great. If I can suggest it, audio is amazing on this.

i woke up this morning going "oh, man, i should have picked THAT book for PRETZEL category and THOSE books for BACON SUNDAE", so if you need me to change things up, please..."
hi, shelby.
so, i did add a couple, since you said that you didn't mind m/f. i added books that i've read this year and really liked.

Ok, please let me know if you want me to re-pick something. Of 3000+ books we only had 56 in common, so I guessed a lot.
Sweet and Gooey:
Chocolate Truffles –

In case you were wondering I don't read paranormal books at all which is why you don't see any books like that in my lists. If there are any they've probably slipped in and I've not been aware of it. lol

Thanks so much for the great picks! I want to read a whole bunch of them! I am leaning towards

I'm glad you liked the picks

Sweet and Gooey:
Chocolate Truffles: Tangled Definitely a spoiled character!
Ice Cream: Giving Chase A book that is a comfort read for me.
Jellybeans: Melody Bright cover! :)
Salty and Crunchy:
Potato Chips (betcha can’t eat just one!): The Gamble The first book in a series that I love and is on your Tbr!
Pretzels: Twinsequences A book with a character who has a twisted personality
Mixed Nuts: Lovers Unmasked An anthology
Combination:
Trail Mix:The Girl's Guide to (Man) HuntingA book where a significant portion of the story takes place outdoors
Bacon Sundae (don't knock it until you've tried it...): Ok, I had a hard time with this one since your tbr shelf had quite a variety of genres, so I chose Perfect Mate since you only had three zombie books! I actually really enjoyed this one too! (zombies aren't typically my thing...)

Chocolate Truffles –
From your TBR list- The Queen's Librarian- this looks like a hoot.
Ice Cream –
From your TBR list -Under the Rushes I see Amy Lane is a favorite author of yours.
Jellybeans –
from your TBR list Kamikaze Boys This has a bright cover and is in the LGBT genre
Potato Chips (betcha can’t eat just one!)-
From your TBR list -Not So Innocent This is the 2nd in the Shattered Glass series. You enjoyed the first one.
New To You - Naked in Death I see you have read many of Nora Roberts books and have enjoyed them and have not enjoyed them. This series is really good. Maybe give Nora Roberts alter ego a try. I know I prefer J.D. Robb to Nora Roberts maybe you will too.
Pretzels –
New to You - The Eyre Affair I see you liked Jane Eyre as much as I did which is why I first picked this book up. I really enjoy the wacky and sometimes hard to follow story. The next books in the series are equally good.
Mixed Nuts –
From your TBR list- Ghost from the book description and the reviews this has many flashbacks.
New to You -The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane This was such a good book. Interesting story about the witches during the witch trials and present day.
Trail Mix –
New to You -The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon This book entirely takes place outside. I loved this book and I am not a Stephen King fan.
Bacon Sundae (don't knock it until you've tried it...)-
New to You - To Your Scattered Bodies Go This is way outside your comfort zone. It is Science Fiction but also has many different figures from all times of past history all put together in a single book or series.

Chocolate Truffles – a wealthy character

Oh My what a great choice of books, the few I don't have on my list have been added to my list. Like it wasn't long enough. I think I'm going to start with Blood Trail (Victoria Nelson, #2) first but it is a hard choice.

Sweet and Gooey:
Chocolate Truffles – Just Ask - List
Ice Cream – Mourning Heaven– New
Jellybeans – Glitterland – New
Salty and Crunchy:
Potato Chips - Love, Hypothetically - List
Pretzels – Rentboy – List
Mixed Nuts - Downtime – New
Combination:
Trail Mix - Bonds of Earth – List
Bacon Sundae - Welcome to Temptation - New

Thanks for the great picks, Joyce. :) Don't know which yet, but I'm definitely reading a few. And even though I mostly read m/m now, a few of those non-m/m are making their way to my tbr. They just look too good to pass up. Thanks again! :)
Unfortunately Not So Innocent hasn't been published yet, but no worries, I have plenty to pick from. ;)

I'm definitely going to read Rentboy and Love, Hypothetically.
I like to pick one new also, but I am having a hard time deciding between Glitterland and Welcome to Temptation. If the library has the J Crusie book, I'll go with that one. I'll post again.
Thanks so much for these great picks. I'm sure it was tough dealing with a different genre, and I appreciate the obvious effort you put into it.
Hope you enjoy this challenge enough to come back next month!

i woke up this morning going "oh, man, i should have picked THAT book for PRETZEL category and THOSE books for BACON SUNDAE", so if you need me to change th..."
Oooh yay! More books is always fun, though looking at my personal challenge thread kinda makes me shudder. I am a glutton for punishment apparently. But I'm going to try to get through as many as I can.
I'm already planning on Red+Blue, Sixty Five Hours, and Lair of the Jaguar God for other challenges so they'll double beautifully. I want to fit in at least one of the MF books as well though. Yay! Is it October yet?

I finally have your picks. It's a mixture of genres, so I hope you'll find something that will intrigue you enough to read. : )
