Wow! Thanks so much. I've read Agatha Christie before so I look forward to reading more by her and discovering new ones!

It's a YA for older kids, since there is death and conflict.
It was more suspense/thriller than mystery, I think, although I shelve them together.

Of course, it helps if you like Aussie politics, and if you do, I highly recommend What a Time to be Alive, about the 2016 campaign from BuzzFeed journalist Mark Di Stefano, who was given short shrift and condescension from the 'suits' in Government. They should be more careful whom they offend.
4.5★ from me!

This book has a few essays about Indian culture and society. It surely has been important when it has been written, in the first years of the 20th century, so that people could know and understand better Hindu deities, their symbolism, or Indian music, art, dance, etc. I've already read a lot about India and Hinduism so this book didn't add a lot to what I already knew, but I can see that in the time it has been written it surely was important.

Paul Harding's Tinkers is short, well worth a read for the language and poetry and mood, but I missed something, I guess, and am too dim to put my finger on it.

Bodies of red-heads appear in graveyards, but somebody has sneaked them in, and nobody knows why or how. And one of our favourite coppers is a lovely redhead!

I like all sorts of mysteries but my favorites are the so-called Golden Age (like Agatha Christie, Ngaio Marsh, Dorothy L. Sayers, Michael Innes, Margery Allingham, Edmund Crispin, Rex Stout, etc.) and historical fiction mysteries (Bruce Alexander, Kate Ross, Elizabeth Peters, etc). I have also been enjoying the contemporary police procedurals by Louise Penny and Andrea Camilleri.
Here is a pretty good list of "best" mysteries you could use to explore: http://www.listchallenges.com/the-top...
