David P Forsyth (daidpforsyth) | 352 comments Let's keep track of who's new and who is still actively undead. I'll start and see where it goes.

I'm from California and I joined this group last year after I wrote my first zombie book. I've made some friends here and really enjoy the thread that lists "Free Kindle Books About Zombies." It's become my favorite source for filling my Kindle and Cloud with freebies!

I'd like to help attract more members to the group, so if you are one of them, give a shout out! LOL. Let's make this a fun and active genre group.

Don't I know it, Felicia! Just so the rest of you know, Felicia A Sullivan is THE editor of choice for the Zombie genre. If you are looking for a reading list of well edited zombie books, start with: http://indie-editor.webs.com/booksiha...
In fact, she edited three of my books this year! I have no idea how she has time to do anything else. :)

Ian McClellan | 294 comments Yeah, that's good to know, David. Thanks.

BTW Travist, I opened my first e-mail account in 2010. Never spent any time on a computer before then. Now I have a few FB pages, a Twitter account, a web site, Goodreads and a couple of similar sites, and I just started writing for an e-zine. It took me a while and I'm still learning, but it's not too hard once you get into a routine and stop sleeping ;)

Jim, I hope I didn't overstep by starting this thread. :) Wasn't sure if there even was a moderator of the group! LOL.

And Tammy, what is your favorite color? ;)

I was in Italy and Ireland a few months ago. Loved it. Now it's back to working on my next book in Malibu. Darn it.

Steven (tbones) | 92 comments Hello Everybody!! I'm Steven from Washington and my family and I are zombie-aholics and proud of it. With all the zombie books popping up it is great to have this thread connected to freebies or I'd be totally broke for life, homeless, and wandering around like a zombie :o) So thanks for all the great lists.

David P Forsyth (daidpforsyth) | 352 comments Hi Steven. Thinking of flying up to Seattle, Washington and driving back down the coast in the next month or two. Purely for research on my next book of course. ;)

I love the Free Kindle Zombie Book thread that Randy started here. It is one of the few thread feeds that I click on almost very day.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Hi David, Travis, Randy, Felicia, Lisa, Ian, Jim, Neil, Amanda.
David that's ten and there are some newly awakened in there, cool!
As for my favorite color, Orange.
Ok I'll ask the next question of anyone who will bite.
What is the longest book that you can recall reading?
Edit two more posted while I was typing. Hi pleasure and Steven

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 48 comments The longest book I've read was probably The Stand by Stephen King.

message 22: by Steven (new)

Steven (tbones) | 92 comments Hey David, where are you flying up from? If you are driving back down the coast, will you be going down through Oregon too? If so my wife and I were as far down as Bandon,OR. I highly recommend the West Coast Safari 7 miles south of Bandon. You get to pet a baby tiger, bobcat, lynx looking cat, black bear, fox, a skunk, and they have lot of deer and such just walking around that you can pet and feed too. I highly recommend this park. Plus, up near Florence is the awesome monster dune buggie ride park. The Mill Casino in Coos Bay. Washington's coast has plenty of inspiring locations too. You are gonna have a blast. I could send you a list of great spots to check out.

And yes this thread is an everyday stop :o)

message 23: by Steven (new)

Steven (tbones) | 92 comments Hi Laurie, what's your all time favorite zombie book or movie? I'm a big fan of the Return of the Living Dead stuff. The big oily, slimey zombies were freaky and I just loved how all they ate were brains..and they could talk..."Send more freebies." :O)

I would have said The Stand too, but Amanda beat me too it. Then I remembered that Lord of the Rings was written as a single book and then split into a trilogy by the publisher. The Foundation series is also a contender. How about this one: what is the longest SERIES you recall reading? ;)

message 25: by Tammy K. (new)

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) Amanda wrote: "The longest book I've read was probably The Stand by Stephen King."

I also read that one. I broke it's spine and ended up carrying it around in two pieces. It was in such sad shape when I finally got through it.

message 26: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (snowqueenliisa) | 18 comments Longest series for me, the Dark-Hunter series. 20+ books and still going.

April (asmohinani) | 79 comments Hi, I'm April, originally from Maryland, but I now divide my time between the West Indies and Alaska. I've been a member since January of this year. Zombies are new to me, but I've been enjoying the genre immensely.

David P Forsyth (daidpforsyth) | 352 comments Pleasure wrote: "Gone With The Wind. I went through this Civil War Phase when I was 13."

Hmmm... I think he said "zombie book or movie"... But glad to see that you appreciate the classics too. I think books about war and zombies have a lot in common. It's just easier to desensitize the violence when the "enemy" is already dead. But Scarlet O'Hara wasn't that different than a woman hiding out on a farm during the Zompoc. :)

Mike | 48 comments Hello. I’m Mike. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota about 11 years ago (talk about culture shock). I just got back into reading a year ago by randomly choosing Day By Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne. It was such a great series that I now try to read a little bit before bed and apparently like reading Horror, Zompoc and Tragic Wall Street stories.

The longest book I’ve ever read was Resurrection: Zombie Epic by Tim Curran that was 666 pages which was fitting considering it was the most evil thing I have ever read.

Tammy K. (rambles_of_a_reader) I've lost count. How many members is that David?
If you can get to 40 (different) group members posting a comment on this thread before tomorrow morning (west coast time).
I will start a buddy read in this group for your book Voyage of the Dead even if I do not get any other takers and end up doing it myself, and I will post my review on Amazon. (Remember, I do not give fluff reviews.)
It's not much but it's what I have to offer.
Here is my amazon profile:

Are you up for the challenge?

Just back from dinner and ready to take up the gauntlet! Please set the deadline as 11:59am PDT (that's still morning here). LOL. I already sent out some feelers. Let's see if I can pull out the heavy artillery! ;)

(might be a sequel, if you like it). I love the genre, OF COURSE i have my fave authors, and David wanted me to say hello. So hello. Zombies Rock!
