By the age of 30, Christopher Rice had published four New York Times bestselling thrillers, received a Lambda Literary Award and been declared one of People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive. His two novels of dark supernatural suspense, THE HEAVENS RISE and THE VINES, were both finalists for the Bram Stoker Award. He recently entered the erotic romance genre with three works in all new series called The Desire Exchange. They include THE FLAME, THE SURRENDER GATE and KISS THE FLAME.. If you have any desire to write, then reading and watching movies and T.V. stop being passive activities. You start analyzing (and sometimes even picking apart) everything you read and watch. So while there's still an element of enjoyment to consuming various forms of entertainment, there's also a stimulation factor there that isn't exactly relaxing. Friends have always encouraged to take up hobbies, but I'm incredibly resistant to the idea. I have a PlayStation I barely play and lots of cooking equipment I've yet to christen. Nothing zones me out quite like going for a long walk with my iPod. A long drive by myself can have the same effect.(less)

And in November, I'll publish THE FLAME, a novella and my first erotic romance. I'm incredibly excited about both. I'll have more information about THE VINES very soon. But for now all I'll say is this, "Don't feed the plants!"(less)

You can only write what you know?Nonsense. Let me translate this statement. There is a certain type of writer (and reviewer) who believes the only legitimate form of fiction is the kind so directly fueled by a writer’s personal experience it’s almost impossible to distinguish it from memoir.

Why these individuals don’t just commit themselves to writing and reading non-fiction is beyond m...

Mhairi Mhairi Hi Christopher! Thanks so much for accepting the invite. Your mother is my biggest influence. It's a goal of mine that someday she might read my books and tell me her thoughts.

Brit-El So we get to send questions? The real one is, what do I have to do to get you and Eric to come to my 18th birthday party next Halloween? That's what I really wanna know.
