As much as I would like to save Snape and Dumbledore, their deaths are too important parts of the story to save. Also, in Snape's case, it's part of the redemption of his character, so not to kill him off would detract from the impact of his sacrifice. The two deaths that shocked me the most in the books were Tonks and Remus. They didn't feel necessary. Then it's a straight choice, for me, between Hedwig and Sirius.
Just three to save? I'm gonna cheat and save 5.1) Sirius Black
2) Fred Weasly.
3) Tonks & Remus
...And Dobby the house-elf & Hedwig the Owl.
It would have changed the story, though.
I love the Harry Potter books, and it is true that many people and creatures die, if I had to save three it would have to be Fred, Remus and Tonks.
It's so hard to just pick 3, but I think I'd save Fred, Tonks and Lupin. George needs his other half (and I just adore Fred) and Teddy needs his parents. I would like to save Cedric too, though, he was so young.. as well as Colin Creevey oder Lavender Brown, they just didn't deserve to die. Sirius and Dobby, too, I see, it isn't too easy :D
Even though I love Dumbledore, I would not save him because it was his time. He was brilliant but old, he was ready.
Sirius. That was cruel, despite being somewhat necessary for the story's progression. Of course Fred deserved to live, that one was a bit much for me. As much as I adore the body count at the end of a great series, there's always one or two lives that really could have been spared.
It's really hard to choose a character whom i'd like to save. All the characters who died in last few books in harry potter are awesome characters and gave me shock when they died. But since i have to choose three characters i'd like to save fred, sirius and dumbledore .
I can't pick because they all deserve to live except for Voldemort and his death eaters and the other bad people!!!!!! I would choose Fred,Harry's parents, Sirius, Lupin, Tonks, Hedwig, Dobby..........

I remembered that he died and put him on my to save list but only because of the end. Because of Lily and the doe and the memories. Because of the the blood shed to protect Harry and his cause and because of Dumbledore and the respect that I have for the man.
Once when I was eight I named my goldfish Dumbledore but because we were eight I was the only one who had read and understood that series my friends all thought that I was crazy because who names their goldfish Dumbledore. But I named him Dumbledore because of the respect that I have for Dumbledore, and at that point, I didn't really care what anyone else thought.
Sirius, Dobby and Hedwig. I bawled my eyes out when all three died, especially Sirius. I wanted him to come back from beyond the veil so bad.
SIRIUS BLACK. After that it's a toss up between basically everyone else. If I had to choose though, it would probably be Lupin and Dumbledore. And since Hedwig isn't a "person", but an owl, then I would save her, too. :)

i so agree with you
I wouldn't save any if It changed the story as a reader. As a character I would save Lily, Serius and Hedwig. Lily and Hedwig are pure love and kindness and Serius is mad fun and a great god father. Ooo didnt think of Dumbledore... hhmmm.. Dumbledore or Serius, tough decision. So much knowledge lost when he died, makes me sad.
Remus, Tonks, Sirius!! Remus and Tonks were Harry's parent's all over again! You want little Teddy to have to grow up like Harry did (minus Voldemort)? And Sirius, I LOVED Sirius. And he was the closest thing Harry had to family left. I cried when I first read the scene where he died.
If I had to choose I would choose voldemort's parents and uncle this way he wouldn't grow up to be murderer

The only reason I say no to saving Snape, despite him being my favorite character in the series, is that we wouldn't have the heart wrenching "Prince's Tale" in the final book. Probably my fa..."OMG...you literally took the words out of my mouth. I agree about The Princes Tale ... so memorable and every word was like a punch in the face. I read it out loud to my kids and had to try so hard just to get through the chapter without breaking down. And George without Fred... there is something just so incredibly heartbreaking about that.
