I am currently reading "The Trials of Apollo- The Hidden Oracle" by Rick Riordan
I am currently listening to audiobook 24 Hours by Greg Iles. It is a suspense thriller. I'm not really a big fan of such books but I wanted to try audiobooks and one of my coworkers loaned me this book, so far I'm enjoying it.
Just finished Tim Weiner's LEGACY OF ASHES: THE HISTORY OF THE CIA. Engrossing. Disheartening. I'm glad I took the time to read it.
I just finished The Song of Achilles recently and it was amazing from the first word to the last. Its a historical fiction love story with two male leads. If you like the Iliad or Greek history/stories you will really enjoy this. I'm still sitting with the feelings from this book. Just a real page turner and emotional story.

I just finished The Reader but did not enjoy it too much. For a critically acclaimed Holocaust read, I would rather read something else. Right now, I am trying to pick between reading The King's General or Because of Mr. Terupt. Anyone can recommend?
Finally able to start The Shack by Wm. Paul Young pretty good...but I'll see what I think as time goes on and/or finish the book (audio and physical book)

Recently finished The Beech Tree. Fabulous book! It is an easy read but emotionally powerful!I wrote a review on Goodreads but this one actually describes the book better. Definitely a MUST READ.

I don't post about many books but this is really one to read. Its got everything. Love, lust, heartbreak, and redemption with a twist of the supernatural and getting revenge in the afterlife on the one who hurt you. It reads with all the emotion of a great Jodi Picoult or Liane Moriarty book. It comes out in October but you can get an early copy here. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
Hi Everyone,My name is Michele. I recently joined this book club, and I'm ecstatic to be amongst other voracious readers! I love learning about new reads, along with the readers' commentaries. A book that I'm currently engrossed in is Cecily Wong's DIAMOND HEAD. The story line revolves around several generations of Chinese and Hawaiian women, their histories, and their emotional connection with a member of their family who dies. This is the author's debut novel. It is well-written and the cultural traditions of China and Hawaii well-imagined. Having visited Hawaii years ago, visiting the Diamond Head volcano -Needless to say, Wong's moving story is bringing back fond memories for me. A great read!

I'm reading "Freeman" by Leonard Pitts, Jr. Numerous books have been written about the Civil War but I haven't read many about what happened immediately after it. This book begins the day after the Civil War ends and centers around Sam, a free black man who has gone back to Mississippi to search for his wife, Prudence, a white woman from Boston who has gone to Mississippi to open a school for the newly freed slaves, and Tilda, the woman for whom Sam is searching. I haven't gotten to the part where their stories intersect yet and maybe they won't. I'm finding the story very compelling. Leonard Pitts is a very skilled writer.

Recently finished The Secret Life Of Bees. Interesting read, and really explained the situation back in the 1960s between white and black people quite well.
The pillars of the earth--a long book
I am currently reading All The Light We Cannot See. I have read about 75 percent of the book and can't put it down. It is such a human tale of war, suffering, loss and within all of this the human spirit is being celebrated. It is an ode to survival. The two protagonists arecwell drawn and I am holding my breath because the two are about to cross paths. The parallel plots are going to intersect soon. I love the small chapters. Even if one is busy with other things one can finish a small chapter, keep the book down, come back and start the next chapter. There is something about the pace of action too. The pace is getting faster and building upto the finale. It has evoked a physiological response in me too apart from an emotional one. I can feel my stomach churning.

I very recently read a book entitled, "Culmination." I have to say that I literally loved it. It grabbed ALL of my emotions and sent me on a roller coaster whipping me around from anger, rage, sadness, joy, hope, fear, etc... I haven't read a book in a long time that made me so angry. That being said, I love it when authors can compose a story that does that (take me through a range of emotions). I will admit this is not a book for just anyone. It is dark, raw, and grotesque. It defies morals and really made me wonder what some people are really capable of. It's different and disturbing.
I recommend it but with caution. It is a FANTASTIC read, but touches on MANY taboo scenarios. If you are offended by sex, gore, and language, DON'T read it because you will not finish it. If you crave something different and unique and don't care about cursing, sex, violence and gore, READ IT! You will not be sorry and you will certainly never forget it.
Currently reading The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken. Also loving it, but like Culmination, it's dark and disturbing. Maybe there's a correlation... Maybe I'm disturbed:). Kidding. Or not? lol
