(Please check with Mod running the discussion about the day’s DQs for which you want to volunteer.) Yes, you may ask to have a “buddy read” set-up for a particular book. It must be posted in the regular NBRC group, under the alphabetical authors’ listings, and includes the regular NBRC members not involved in the Tower Teams Reading Challenge. 6 From May’s R-a-T Mini Challenges: Read books with a predominantly green color; or have a flower on the cover; or are set in a favorite holiday destination; or have a moon on the cover; or have a iconic landmark or monument on the cover; or would spell out “A.N.Y. R.O.S.E.” (same rules apply as for #5). Yes, you may count one book that has a flower, one that has a landmark, and one that helps spell “any rose” to reach a combined total of seven (7) books.Max 14

7. Seven: Read books with seven letters in the title. Read books that have seven words in the title. You may include the series name, or not, and you may ignore the indefinite and definite articles (a, an, and, the), whichever is to your benefit. Or read books that are the seventh book in a series. Or are written by an author with seven letters in their first, last, or combined names - and initials, if that helps. Or you may read books, that total seven words with the title, series name, and author combined. (Example: Summer Knight, The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher.) Or if the title has the word “seven” in the title. Or read a book that was originally published in the seventh month (July). Or you may spell out “S.E.V.E.N. U.P.” using the same spell-it-out criteria mentioned above.Max 14

At this time, it appears that I have eight "am definitely reading" books going toward task #7. (Of those eight,I have four toward #6 and five toward #5). I'd happily just take care of task #7 for at least one round of 7 books. Of course, I don't want to box anyone out if that is a category they really want, though there would still be 7 slots open for a second round of that task.

STILL WORKING ON MATCHING JEX's TEMPLATE!
For the cupcakes, all my books read in 2013 are on the same shelf: challenge-nbrc-tower . My name is on there twice.
Some are 99% sure, some are 80%, some are 50%. I'll figure out how to indicated that later.
This is what I got. Though, I'm still working on this.

Vicky's Books!I'm splitting the list into books I'm definitely reading in June and books I'm definitely reading in July (though I'm not definitely reading all of them before the challenge ends).
I also have a bunch of other books that I could read during the challenge that will fit, so I can be flexible once we see where we're going to be lacking.

(Mind you, it looks like a lot of books but I could very well have as many if I really get down to it, hehe).
I don't know about Bronze. But there's a green cover edition and it works for I & R in the spell outs.
Well one of the mods might approve it for bronze. Point is, if you want to read it, read it and when it's finished, I will find a spot for it.
I can place the book you finished on June 2nd, Ordinary GRace, onto the 7% challenge. Did you finish The House At the Sea's End on June 1st? It's showing June 2013, which is what I think it shows when you mark a book read on the 1st of the month. I can fit that in somewhere too.
So see you already gave us 2 books for this challenge.
Oh and you don't have to list your books ahead of time. People have just been doing it to keep track for themselves.

Sorry, Barbara, it doesn't look bronze to me. Works for the letter "I" and "R."

yes, I just finished The House at Sea's End the other day.
Also, I am probably going to end up reading more that 50 books this year, so does that skew things?I put in 50 because I wasn't totally sure and I have been kind of tracking what I've been doing as a whole since January and 50 seemed reasonable. But, when I look at the last few weeks it looks like I am going to be ahead of schedule and I have a lot of books on my list that need to get read.
Just want to make sure it doesn't look like I dogged it, or should I change my 2013 goal a bit?
Mrs. Dresden, since Holly joined, and we have someone else named Caroline who wants to join (don't know book count yet), we'll probably be taking the Mod Account off the joint Cadet/Pewter Blue for the 7% Solution Challenge. Does that throw a monkey wrench into your set-up?
Sorry didn't see your post yesterday. I don't think it will because the mod account hasn't finished any books yet. I didn't fill in anything unfinished into my submission plan. Only finished books.
I might have to take someone else away, too. Can you look at the spreadsheet and decide, Mary: HDLS?
Why do we have to lose someone when our team goal isn't even near the required goal of 1350?eta: our team "goal" is only 1125 and I just looked at a bunch of other teams and their team goals are all over 1300, some 1400 & 1500+. So I don't get why we have to lose someone and not one of them? Should the team with a combined goal of 1500+ lose a member first?
I think she means to take someone off the 7% challenge because our teams are combined for that?If my guess is right, I'm curious to know how that is determined? Are you trying to average out how many people are doing the 7% from each team and trying to make us equal those? If any books can count "by accident" (as I call it when someone who isn't actively playing along can still get counted), do those people that get "removed" from the cadetblue/pewter combined not count at all, even by accident?
If I have to lose someone from the 7% challenge then I'd rather it be someone who hasn't finished a book for it yet. I'll have to see if there's anyone who hasn't finished something yet.
Sorry for the confusion, Mrs. Dresden. Yes, Teresa is right. I meant when you look at the "Pewter & Cadet Blue 7% Participants" tab along the bottom of the Team Assignments Spreadsheet. Total would be up to 1,502 - if I left everyone as is.
I am curious about those teams with over 1400 books as their goal. I'm curious about the method behind the madness of having teams so high in goals vs others being lower. If it's too complicated to explain, that's cool, but I'm really curious if there is ever a chance to explain.
Is Michael active in the 7%? Just doing a quick scan, his name might be one to remove if he's not participating. I haven't been keeping up on exactly who all is playing along but I don't remember seeing him in the finished thread or the player update one.

Pretty simple, really. Those people changed their goals after assignments were made and the challenge began. We didn't feel it warranted a, "Now you must change Teams."

Michael was the one I was thinking about. I just didn't want to mess up Mrs. Dresden's behind-the-scenes shuffling and thought I'd ask first.

I would still like people to post when they finish a book in the finished thread. That will just make it easier for me to place books where they need to go when they're done.
