I am Jessica. I am a pediatric nurse. I love to read mostly fantasy, but I have a love for learning and history.
I don't have many people locally that likes books. I am excited to be able to read a book and be able to talk about it with others. :)
Greetings to the group.My particular historical interests are, I would suppose, fairly typical ones — American, early modern Europe, and classical. I’m also interested in the history of science and technology.

Hello everyoneI am Elin Sofie from Norway. I just love reading and my favorites are everything on history and historical fiction. I'm interested in political, religious and cultural history.
I started reading history and historical fiction novels when I was very young. I loved the Sagas of the Norse Kings from the Icelandic historian, poet and politician Snorre Sturlason. He got me interested in Scandinavian history.
In the 1980s I listened to the radio as the Norwegian author Richard Herrmann was reading from his books about the history of London and the history of three great English queens. After that I was hooked on Brittish history. I have read some European-, American-, Middle East- and Chinese history.
I don’t have anyone local to share my love for books and history so I am thrilled that I stumbled upon this group. Looking forward to learn from the group and hopefully contribute back.

Hi all. I'm Chuck and I'm an IT manager from Pennsylvania, USA. I've been interested in history all of my life and have always gravitated towards the Civil War, but lately have become interested in WWI as well. With 2 young kids, my time to read is sometimes limited, but I'm hoping that this group will help to point me towards new books.
Hello my name is Patrick and I am a geologist who lives in Maryland US. I love history and I am always looking for great new books to read! Some of my favorite time periods are Middle East history mainly the Persian Empire (favorite book from this time period is the Bible). Also I enjoy the Classical Antiquity and Middle Ages of European history (favorite book from this time period is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius) and of course as a geologist, I enjoy geological history (favorite book from this time period is the diamond makers by Robert Hazen)

Hello! my name is Haley and I'm an English teacher in Turkey but I am obsessed with history (hoping to reach it one day). I am currently working on my Masters and am focused mainly on history of the Middle East (primarily Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq). I have a working proficiency in both Persian and Turkish. Hi everyone, my name is Matthew. I am from Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. I am a recent graduate of Bishop's University with a BA Honours degree in history, I also have minors in geography and journalism. I have always been passionate about history, particularly 20th century military history. I wrote my honours thesis on how the US and USSR used the opening ceremonies of the 1980 and 1984 Olympic Summer Games as propaganda tools. My favorite topic is WWII. I have just finished reading D-Day: The Battle for Normandy by Antony Beevor, and was blown away by his detail and his knowledge. I have also just started to read Hiroshima by John Hersey and am finding it very interesting. I look forward to discussing history with all you fine people.

Hello my name is Roxanne Jordan and I love history, I focus more on genealogy. I have a lot of my family that goes as far back as the kings of England and the era of the Tudors so I study a lot about them. I also study the civil war, I also have a lot of family that fought in the civil war. I love to do research on history and learning about the past.

Hello, my name is Bill and I'm very pleased to be accepted as a member of The History Book Club. I live in Ontario, Canada where I was born. From ages 5 to 17 I lived all over the U.S. becoming a lover of history at age 10. Living north of Kansas City at the time, I became a 'fan' of President Harry S Truman. Since then my main focus on history has been U.S. Presidents, Prime Ministers of Canada and the U.K. as well as the people who worked in their administrations and those who were influential in their lives.
I also really enjoy general U.S., Canadian, U.K. & Irish history with a side helping of the history of the NFL.
I look forward to being active member of our group.
