ARCHIVE TWO: PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF ~

I am sure if you look through the threads you will find many topics that will interest you.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.
This is how books you mention should look:

Oh well, I may improve with practice!

Good start Carolyn on the citations. When you find the book in the "add book/author" link at the bottom there is an option to do a link or the book cover. Choose cover and then use the author tab to add the author.

Hello, I'm Hannah, an 18-year old college student from Charlotte, NC. I am interested in American History, preferably anything from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. Thomas Jefferson is, and will probably always be, my absolute favorite historical figure, and the majority of books I own are on him (and my collection is small, but it is growing yet). I look forward to reading even more history books and making new friends!

I'm a former journalist from the US who had become an avid reader of history. What started as curiosity has become a desire to fill in the many gaps in my knowledge. It seems that whenever I read a history book, it yields at least seven or eight new curiosities about surrounding countries or adjacent time periods.
When I read A History of Venice, I found myself curious about Croatia, since they seemed like Venice's Mexico (superpower supply state); the unification of Italy; Florence and the Medici; the hypocrisy of the Papacy; and Palermo under Charles d'Anjou; among others.
I've recently read histories of the 1990s Serbian War; Shanghai from 1800; the whole of China's history; Stalin's Russia; Russian espionage on the West; Russian espionage in Hitler's Germany; and currently, Kim Philby's Russian years.
Looking forward to what you're interested in.
Welcome Hannah and Bill. We have lots of threads on American history here - please explore to your heart's content.
Welcome to the group, Pam. Resistance sounds like an interesting topic. We have a bunch of threads about World War II here –

although nothing specific on the French resistance (the only one that comes to mind).

I like philosophy and history and found out that they have helped me to understand better the events of the world. I look forward to learn from the insights of the members of this group.

Briefly, I am Founder and Artistic Director for Theatre Gael, a twenty-five-year- old theatre company committed to the preservation and production of the cultural heritage of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Celtic America in Atlanta, GA. Also WORLDSONG, an arts in education outreach program that focuses on literacy, creative expression and human rights. I am an actor, teacher, playwright, occasional crank and published poet.
I believe we are, through our shared human nature, storytellers longing for a good story. History offers us some roaring good tales. Eugene O'Neill, an Irish-American playwright and fine storyteller reminds us - “There is no present or future-only the past, happening over and over again-now.” So, while the past happens to me once again, I will enjoy the story.
I look forward to the History Book Club.
Best, Sean

My name is Nour ,I come from Syria. I studied English literature & I got a diploma in travel & tourism. I work in a travel agency . I love reading especially biography ,European history, Amercian civil wars, & Soviet Union.. It's a pleasure for me to be in this group ..
Best regards
Welcome Lynette, Elissa, Miguel, Frank, Sean and Nour. It's great to meet new people who like history.

I enjoy reading history alot, not in a way of mere enjoyment of reading, but more like a joy of pure gain of knowledge.
I believe history gives us a better understanding about ourselfs, considering the human being has probably gone through every possible situation in the past, it is the self consciousness of humanity, and the enlightenment of the future, only a fool would abandon the opportunity of learning this much knowledge, and I tend not to be one.
I am delighted to be part of this club, and I am looking forward to discuss some of the fascinating topics that are recommended.

Welcome to our group, Kristina. Your introductory statement demonstrates that you have excellent writing skills, all too rare in a 16-year-old. Your "intense love" for study of the past will always stand you in good stead.

John, welcome to our group and greetings from Illinois. It's always nice to have another member who shares an interest in military history. And so far as railroad history is concerned, I've lived much of my life within a few miles of the Illinois Central Railroad, and still find it disconcerting to see "Canadian National" on the box cars today.
Welcome Ismail, Kristina, John and Meg. There's such a wide-ranging set of topics here, you're sure to find something interesting and useful.
Welcome to the group, Donya -- we are glad you found us. We have lots of discussions on many periods of history so please feel free to join in.

I want to read about the History of the Arabs and Berbers & history of wars .
I believe that if we know our fantastic history we will make our future fantastic too .

Recently I decided that either my education had failed me or I had failed myself when it came to history so I decided to educate myself. I figured I would start off at home and so I am tackling U.S. history first.
So far I have read The Glorious Cause (Robert Middlekauff), 1776 (David McCullough), Founding Brothers (Joseph Ellis), American Revolution a history ( Gordon Wood) and am currently tackling Empire of liberty by Gordon Wood.
I am absolutely loving the journey so far and am looking forward to learning and enjoying more of these amazing books.
