Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hi everyone. I just joined yesterday. I have strong interest in American History and Military History. There is local history to that I also enjoy finding information about. Mainly I'm spending a lot of time right just on 20th Century historical events. from 3 novels because I love how authors use real history in their plots that revolve around a very good narrative.
My name is Brooke C. Stoddard. I grew up in Ohio and live near Washington, D. C. I’ve enjoyed history books since about age 11. Jim Billington was my history professor in college. These days I not only read books but also listen to audio ones walking to and from home and office. My special interests are Ancient Egypt, Classical Greece and Rome, early U. S. republic, American Civil War & Reconstruction, and Depression/World War II.
Welcome to the History Book Club, Scott. I think you will find much here to further pique your interest in all things history. Here are a couple of links to your favorite topics, American History and Military History.American History

Hi everyone! I'm Marietta and I'm 14 years old. I love history and hope to have a job related to it someday. I also love tackling books that are way over my head, otherwise how would I learn anything?

You will find great resources here and wonderful book recommendation. Hello, AllMy name is Darrell. I am a retired pastor, now serving a not-for-profit which focuses on character. I have always loved history, though my college grades didn't reflect it. I read and have a fairly good library on the Civil War, WWII, and Vietnam, but any history really captures my attention. I live in Belleville, IL, USA, across the Mississippi from St. Louis.
Greetings. I am an expat Scot living in the USA. I used to be an avid reader back in the 90's, but stopped dead after I discovered the internet and various other visually distracting forms of entertainment. A recent life change has left me with plenty of time on my hands and I have rediscovered my love of books. I am addicted to buying and collecting ebooks. I find them an amazing advancement. Currently into historical non-fiction. Glad to be here.
Cheers to you JR and a warm welcome to the HBC!! It is always nice to have a history scholar in our midst. You and I share a love of WWI history, so why not browse that thread first.World War I

Hello, My name is Pam and I live in Kennesaw, GA in the USA. This is an appropriate place for a member of a History Book Club, don't you think? Kennesaw Mountain is where the battle of Atlanta took place in the American Civil War.Anyway, I am married 47 years and the mother of 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren ages 6-18 and all big readers, I am proud to say. I now have the time to spend all day reading as much as I wish and that fulfills a lifelong dream. I divide my reading fairly equally between fiction and non-fiction and history has always been a deep interest. I look forward to discovering more interesting books here and following some lively discussions.
Hi thereI am new to the group and new to Goodreads. I love historical thrillers and keen to find out more about using Goodreads. Any help or links will be much appreciated.
thanks and regards

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hi my name is Kate. I got my first degree in history and my second in accounting. I work in tax now, but still love history. My favorite type of history books are ones that explore the everyday lives of people, and I'm not a huge fan of books about war or that sort of thing. Nice to meet you!
Welcome to the place for the history lover, Kate. Anyone who works with taxes has my admiration!!!! Look around and see what topics catch your attention on the home page. And then jump right in.Home Page
