Hello, thanks for the welcome to the group. I'm an avid reader, having several books going at the same time. I range from popular fiction, chick lit, popular non-fiction and of course history. I love the Delores Kearns books. I have read 2 Erik Lawson's recently and looking for more. Thanks for including me. I work for a private college in Indiana.

Hi guys. It's been way, way long time since I've postponed this self-intro in this forum. I'm a big fan of history, and discovered my passion in it when I realized that I love historical related movies. But since all of that is for Hollywood, I decided to pick up a book about Khublai Khan, now expanded to whatever history books I could lay (and pay) on to.

But since all of that is for Hollywood, I decided to pick up a book about Khublai Khan, now expanded to whatever history books I could lay (and pay) on to. I'm too now studying History and still widening my reading horizon, especially when it comes to history related books (includes historical fiction).
So, guess that's enough for now. Again, hello all and nice to meet you guys.
So glad you joined the rest of us history lovers, Paul......you are in good company. Here is a link that contains some of your favorite topics.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box). It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

You have come to the right place for the history lover, Doris. Lots to see and do here. You did a great job with the book citations! Since you didn't define a particular era of history, let me direct you to the home page where you can browse at leisure and find something that appeals.

Jason, you have come to the right place for all things history. I share your appreciation of WWI history and agree that it gets short shrift in the overall picture of wars that involved the US. A warm welcome to you. Here is our link to WWI.....I think you will find much there that you will enjoy.

     Hi everyone.
Hi everyone. My name is Maren, but since most people have trouble pronouncing that for some reason I mostly go by dawn, or as my username is Dawnie.
I live near Munich in germany.
I honestly don't have a specific time that I enjoy reading more about, because if the book is written well, I think that every history aspect is fascinating. So I read non fiction and fiction historical books of any time and just try to learn more about the overall history of our world.
If anyone has recommendations, please don't hesitant to send them my way :)
Welcome Maren to The History Book Club. My middle name is Dawn and a lot of my family call me Dawnie! I love the name.

Hello all. My name is Dominic and I recently got the Good Reads app. I enjoy history, particularly ancient Mediterranean. Recently, I have become more interested in Byzantine and Ottoman, American (especially Revolutionary and Civil War), and military. I look forward to participating here when I can.

Hi guys! My name is Micah Offermann and I just graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, KS where I grew up. I love to travel and I love reading historical fiction and nonfiction. My favorite era would probably be the 1700's in the West Indies. I am fascinated by the colony lifestyle and am in love with the Caribbean islands. I am posting this from Jamaica as we speak. I was fumbling around on the app yesterday, looking for my next good book to read when I got home and some how came across this group and it looked fun, so I joined! I look forward to sharing my comments and I hope I can recommend books for you all as much as I hope that you will recommend books for me. A couple of other civilizations that interest me are; Japanese and Chinese culture (any time period), the Americas during the discovery era, Vikings of Scandinavia, and really anything in India. If you guys have suggestions for me, I would love to hear them, or if I need to include anything else, let me know!

My name is Sabbir Ahmed. I am from Bangladesh, a small, densely populated south asian country but rich historically.I have bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. So, you can bet i'd highly likely to be an engineer. I have a very strong attraction towards history be it about my country or about whole world. I like to know the history each and every country in the earth along with their cultural and natural diversities.
But, alas, life is too short. Can i quench my thirst in this short span of life?

Hey, my name is Paul Cranford and I love History of all kinds. My favorites would be American History especially the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Have been to every major battlefield and many minor ones East of the Mississippi for both wars. Have read about 100 books just on the Civil War. I do mix it up with WWI, WWII, Korea & Vietnam. Look forward to being part of this group.
