Hi, I'm Ryan, still a student, from India. I like to read History books, Historical romance, satire etc. One well-known proverb comes to my mind in this context--'History repeats itself'. I'm basically fascinated with this process of repetition or/and representation, its take on the act of repetition or vice-versa, and other role-playing factors. I would like to read Historical fictions in which individuals try to assimilate themselves or be a part of History. It is also something that I like the way History gets unfurled in a picaresque manner, though the protagonist should not be entitled as a picaro. If the book is based upon 'Indian History', I'll be mostly delighted.

I hope I'll learn a lot from this group.

I'm Persis and though Indian by Nationality I live in Botswana, Africa. I've done my Masters in English Literature and have been running a Bookshop in Botswana for the past 15 years. I've never enjoyed Histroy as a child but now that I've discovered Historical Fiction I can't stop reading. Hello everyone!

This is Imran Azeem from Pakistan. I've recently completed my Electrical Engineering from a prestigious engineering school of my country.

Even though it is a generally held belief that school books are boring and repetitive but my love for history stems from my time in middle school. I was blessed to have a history teacher who would bring the books alive by painting such vivid images in our minds with all the details of past events whether it be the Confress of Vienna, the consort of Europe, the history of Magna Carta or the First World War. Once I was hooked to it, there was no going back and I'm really happy because reading history is very satisfying.

My interest in history is not limited however the things I've mostly read have been about the people and events the last thousand or so years. Mostly the time after the Magna Carta. When compared to my engineering school friends and peers, I've read a lot about the world wars, European history, American history starting from the American War of Independence to the end of Cold War.

I really look forward to meeting like minded people here and discuss the things they've read and what was so great about the books they've read and tell them about my opinions on the books that I've read.

Hi Andrew!

You can actually like a list by bringing it up and going to the bottom and clicking the "like" button. It's sometimes hard to find, but it is at the end of the list and above the "comments" section. You'll see an area that has the different pages of the list (i.e. Previous, 1, 2, 3,...Next), then below that is the "like" or "unlike" button.

Here's an example screen shot with the "like" button in the lower left hand side of the screen:



Once you "like" the list, it will show up in the "Lists I Like" section of your profile.

Thank you for creating this group. I've had an unrealized dream since high school world history class to create a reference library of good books about the history of each country. I don't know if that's a viable dream! But the recommendations here, I suspect, will be very helpful. As time has passed, I still have not read many history books, and I'm itching to start. I'm in Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.

Hey all! My name is Kayleigh and I'm from Gibraltar. I'm hopefully going to be starting a BA in Classical studies this October, granted I can get the funding I need. But my interest in History isn't just strictly the Ancient Greeks and Romans. I love pretty much all periods in history but some of my favourites (besides Greece and Rome) would be: Medieval (especially Vikings!), Tudor and Stuart England and Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings. Oh, and the World Wars. I'm looking forward to seeing what great books I can find :)
