Can you email me the details please Jenny? I'll delete your post :)

That is just wrong!! Stupid really as GR is huge WORLD WIDE! Supposedly. =o(

I occasionally come across giveaways. I do enter some as you can't win if you don't enter but I honestly don't think I'll ever win any of them. There's always about 10 copies for 2,000 + people entered!

Hey Jo & Li'l Owl, check out the giveaways section in this group, we've set up some monthly ARC giveaways so you can request upcoming Australian releases to get around the fact that Australia is excluded from Goodreads giveaways now (latest batch of upcoming releases hopefully up there this week).

Thanks for the information! I don't need it as I'm in the US. I didn't make that very clear, did I? Sorry.

However, many people in this group can take advantage of it! It's very kind of you!
Makes me happy! =o)

May I ask if you wouldn't mind posting it in our other Aussie group if you didn't already? That'd be really great! Thanks again!

I don't think that would matter or be necessary Owl as the majority of our Aussies are members of both groups - the others are overseas so wouldn't qualify :)

message 407: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2172 comments Has anyone else noticed the Community drop-down is disappearing from certain page views? I can’t quite work out the details, but it definitely disappears when I click through to a book’s page. I have to select Home to get it to reappear, then Community-Discussions. I think it also happened when I was on a Series page.

It’s happening on both my desktop and tablet.

message 408: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) Yep, it has disappearred from the Book view and the Author view pages. I don't like it but am hoping that enough people are complaining so that it will return soon :(

The other thing that is happening at the moment is you can't view reviews on books. The book itself loads while the review loading circle just continues to roll round and round :(

Oh, I thought that was my crappy Vodafone reception lol.

Oh yes! I noticed that too, but like Ace, I thought it was just me.

I thought it was mine too until Phrynne said it was happening to her. And it's in the Feedback group too...

message 416: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) The review 'problem' seems to be fixed today (27/5) so I hope that lasts. Prior to today, I have had the same issues as others. I was cursing Optus reception!

message 417: by Ace (new)

Ace (aceonroam) Both of these problems are now fixed!

Sally906 | 90 comments Ace wrote: "Both of these problems are now fixed!"

Yay!!!

How was everyone's weekend?

Mine was busy doing nothing - when I say nothing I mean I was actually reading!!!!

A few of you know, but my hubby had a slight accident just over 5 weeks ago which lead to emergency foot operation and tendon re-attachment in his big toe. With strict instructions to have his foot elevated for 6 weeks (one week to go) He is bored out of his tiny mind - and I have been a bit flat out with work during the day and then house and husband keeping in the evening. So sit down and read time is limited!!!

BUT as a result I feel as though I have a small insight into what our wonderful full-time, permanent caregivers go through and my hats go off to our unsung heroes.

I did get to go out last night - felt guilty leaving hubby at home - but went for a sunset dinner cruise around the harbour for our son-in-law's birthday - the grandchildren stayed to look after Poppy. Looking after meant they ate picnic food - watched How to train your Dragon and little miss Lily read stories to him.

A good time had by all :)

That sounds really painful, your husband's foot not the dinner cruise.
A tendon re-attachment, that must have been agony. Tell him a good 12 year old single malt works wonders. It does for me and I don't have a detached tendon :D

This is important !!!

Bugs galore at the moment! Many people have no Date Read showing any more. This affects the Challenge and other things. Goodreads have assured everyone that the data is not lost, just not showing. They have also asked everyone not to try and add dates until it is fixed - including as you finish books!!!

message 434: by Noelene (new)

Noelene | 364 comments Don't know how it suddenly gets a bug in the programming when it has been running for years without this glitch. Only my challenge has been affected not My books. Disappointing it is taking so long to fix. It is over 24 hours. Mustn't be a priority.

message 435: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80210 comments Mod
Thanks Phrynne. I noticed it yesterday when my book didn't add to the total even though I had the start and finish date. I know they've been working on it for some days now. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

Yes my dates have gone as well as my challenge. I think I will just write my finished books in my trusty notebook and record them once it is all fixed. Paper wins over technology again:)

message 442: by Ace (new)

message 444: by B the BookAddict (new)

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Seems like a couple of the same people who whinge and grumble about every single change GR has ever implemented.

Brilliant comment, Ace. I think you should put it in that thread.

I can't review with dates at the moment?
Oh dear, it is amazing how much I have come to rely on GR, it came along at such a perfect time for me, just as my memory was getting too blurry to remember everything I had read.

Oh well. Back to the backup system of paper and pen.

message 446: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 1210 comments Regarding the Profile Page ~ Can't believe you all are happy that some people have an Add Friend ginormous button, some have a Follower ginormous button, some have both, some have none, just a link to More.

And not everyone sees the same thing on someones profile page, there is obviously a bug that they can't figure out how to fix. But preferential treatment is never good.

Not to mention what they've done to the Series page, as a Librarian I will no longer be editing Series pages. They are trying to make the whole site usable on phones etc, however, it has only made it worse & impossible for desktop users at the same time. Big covers & spoilers on the series pages, and lots of scrolling as instead of the entire series being on one page I only see 2-3 books on my 24" screen. At the moment only Feedback users can see the changes, but it won't be long till its rolled out across the site.

I don't have the patience to deal with the onslaught I will receive Bette and Brenda. I show my support to the GR team via email and support surveys they send after an email interaction I alway give them 10 out of 10 for all categories. I never use the feedback group anymore, I go straight to support@goodreads.com and they are really great.
