Okay, thanks!
Okay, thanks!
odd question but how do i add a picture to a post I have a challenge I want to post in the ideas section but it has a picture?
Is the picture hosted somewhere on the internet already? If yes, then you need to get the URL to it, then you can use this HTML:[img src=YOURLINKHERE] except replace the []s with <>s.
Hey I'm new and was wondering what do you guys do? Not only that are there challenges that this group is doing or going to do because I need something to do?
Hi Abbey! Did you receive your welcome message? It looks like you're on the list of members who have received them. That message has a list of all of our activities. We have monthly group reads, and many yearly, quarterly, and monthly challenges to choose from.Let me know if you have any specific questions about any of those things.
Welcome to our group Abbey! If you haven't yet you will get a message with some guidelines that explain what we do here. We have lots of challenges you can join and we read books together. We have a monthly book read you can join if you want to. Also there's buddy reads and twin reads. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions! Winter

help! i've lost my corner! I thought i was moving it from 2015 corner to 2016 corner, but now i don't see it in either place.
it's in the 2016 folder Sabina, here is a quick link for you. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I bookmark mine. I know I am not a mod but came to ask a question of my own figured could help.
do the challenge ideas that we come up with have to always fit one of the themes?
How do you handle books you started in 2015, but finished in 2016? Do they count toward the different challenges?
Blagica wrote: "it's in the 2016 folder Sabina, here is a quick link for you. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I bookmark mine. I know..."
Blagica, I wondered that too, and when I saw the theme for December 2015 was presents, I went Ugh. I don't celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, and I know we have a few other Muslim members. At first glance, if felt like all the non Judaeo-Christians were being left out.
Then I thought, there is a way to twist this in my favor. Muslims (and a lot of other cultures) love giving gifts for any reason. If I ever get invited to your house, I promise I will bring you something. I never go anywhere empty handed. It's just something most eastern cultures do (my friend from Mexico says it's common where she's from too).
So, I made a challenge for me. The irony is I didn't participate, but I had a great time making it up.
So the point, our themes are very broad. A little creativity and a Google search can go a long way in creating a challenge that does what you and the group wants to do.
Julie wrote: "How do you handle books you started in 2015, but finished in 2016? Do they count toward the different challenges?"Goodreads counts books on the day you finish, and this group will be following that policy. So, it's up to you. If you want to count a book in 2015, make sure you mark the date finished before Dec. 31, and if you want it to count in 2016, set the date after Jan. 1.
I'm on winter break right now, and I start my reading year on Dec. 25, so even though I will probably finish a book or two today, I'm going to count them in 2016.
I hope this helps.
thanks Blagica - but I'm actually looking for my "corner" that i set up the books i wanted to read this year ( 2016) I cant find that post anywhere. Update : so i found my corner and am bookmarking it!
Does anyone else find this overwhelming???
It can be a little overwhelming to decide how you want to track your books. Is there anything we can do? Feel free to simplify as much as you like. You get to decide how you want to use your corner or personal challenge topic - what you want to put there, how often you want to update, etc.Bookmarking your topics is something I recommend to everyone!
Where do I find my personal thread? I created one, but can't find it. How do I post books I've read to my 2016 challenge?
Donna wrote: "Where do I find my personal thread? I created one, but can't find it. How do I post books I've read to my 2016 challenge?"How many books did you want to read Donna? I can help you find it. It is a good idea to bookmark it.
If you mean how you get them to count in the official challenge tracker you need to set a date finished (in 2016). In this group you just post in your personal thread that you have finished it and leave a review if you want to :)
Did that answer your question? I will look for your thread, but it helps to know which folder I should look in :)
For the Goodreads Choice Awards, what publishing date do the website people go by in whether or not the book is included in the 2016 awards? Sometimes, there are multiple publishing dates, so I just wanted to check before I delved in. Sorry if this is a repeat question!
That's a good questions, Megan, and I'm not completely sure. Since Goodreads is an American company, I'd imagine that they would use the first US English publishing date. You could probably email them and ask.
Megan, it's the first published date in the US.Books published in the United States in English, including works in translation and other significant rereleases, between November 16, 2014, and November 15, 2015, are eligible for the 2015 Goodreads Choice Awards.

Cool, thanks! And I didn't realize it included books from December - that will add to my challenge:)
Kiara wrote: "How do u add a book that you have read to the reading challenge"You have to set the date read when you review the book. Set the date to a date that's in 2016 aand it will count towards that goal. You should now see the book counted on the tracker. :)
hi, when I look my name up as member, all my 2015 books I read now have the 2016 emblem. I would like to set goal for 90 for 2016. Help
ShayWebbs wrote: "hi, when I look my name up as member, all my 2015 books I read now have the 2016 emblem. I would like to set goal for 90 for 2016. Help"That may be because we changed the name of the group. We have new folders for the 2016 goals. I can either move your old thread into the goal, or you can create a new one.
I am trying to create a new thread and it keeps saying that I need to confirm my e-mail before I can do this. I'm not sure what that entails since I have tried to look at threads and try to figure it out. If someone can help me on this issue, I would be very grateful!
Rebekah wrote: "I am trying to create a new thread and it keeps saying that I need to confirm my e-mail before I can do this. I'm sure the site is data mining because that is what Social Media does.
Can some please set up a buddy read for Divergent to start 1/11 (sorry it is now short notice it has been on the thread) and one for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children for anytime left in January. TY
Question about challenges- Do we need to notify a mod every time we update a post in the challenge thread? I'm just editing my existing post. It's less confusing for me than having several posts in the same thread. It's possible there is an answer to this question somewhere but my three year olds are not allowing for any down time today and I don't think I'm going to have time to look for an answer. Sorry.
I am new to posting so I apologize if there is an obvious answer or an answer somewhere else. Is there an easy way to find my personal challenge thread. I created one when I joined and would like to update it, but am not sure of a way to find it again, other than to scroll through the challenge post folder. Is there another way to do it?Thank you in advance!
Gretchen, yes--the challenge leaders do not go through all of the posts to see which have been updated, and unfortunately, Goodreads doesn't offer a non-manual way to do this. So you can keep your original post and keep updating that, but when you do, please post an additional message in the topic that you've updated your post. Thank you!Lindsay, you can search topics by name, but that can be a little cumbersome (especially if you're on mobile). What I would recommend is bookmarkign your challenge thread. You can find a link to yours here: https://www.goodreads.com/comment/sho...

Catarina wrote: "How I update my challenge, on my topic or on the challenge itself? Or maybe both?"I do both Catarina :) I might not update the challenge itself for every book, but let's say a challenge has 26 books (A-Z)
I will post for example:
update message .. 1/26
update message: 3/26
If I have time I update, and I like to add it to my corner and personal topic every time, but if you want to read three books and then update that's fine too :)
Did that help some?

You're welcome!
I just finished another book so my total should be 8 read but when I go to my stats it is showing 7 books read. I have marked the last book read and entered today's date which is when I finished it. Is there anything else I should or can do?
Lola, there's a Goodreads widget for Facebook for authors, but not for readers--as far as I know. However, you can have Goodreads set up to post your updates to Facebook by following these instructions: https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...
Hi Barbara! Only on my ipod now, but I will try to help. You mean you can't find your own topic ? We always recommend bookmarking as there are no good way of searching. How many books do you want to read in 2016? It's probable that it's in the folder that corresponds with your number. Also if there's some days since you posted there it might be in the later pages:)
